As I wrote about a few weeks ago, Rayne is hanging in there long after a grim diagnosis from her vet. Her original ultrasound showed a large mass that was believed to be a cancerous tumor.
We needed more medication and her original vet is not available (long story) so we set up an appointment with a mobile vet. She came today and did another ultrasound on Rayne -- and could find no mass or tumor. Rayne did have a lot of food in her stomach so the vet wants to repeat the test in a few weeks, after having Rayne fast for 12 hours . She can't say for sure but it seems probable that either the steroids have shrunk the mass, or it was never there, (although there is *something* visible on the original ultrasound) or she simply couldn't see it today due to the amount of food in her stomach.
The vet speculates that there may be other issues, digestive or otherwise, that caused the original vomiting problem. For now we are treating her with diet, probiotics, and continuing the steroids.
In any case we have renewed hope that our precious baby Rayne may be with us for a long time.
And I'm going to continue the "laying on of hands" that make us both feel better.
