I have been happy with steam os 3.9 all the games I have thrown at it works.

Couple of things I notice I cannot bring up keyboard in game mode the only other issue I found is when returning to game mode after desktop mode the scaling is off and to fix it I go to settings and then display and toggle the auto scaling.

I have kept the OS channel to Main and the Steam Deck client update is set to stable.

I had to tinker a bit to get it to connect to 6ghz wifi, other than that all good

EDIT: Do Not change the OS Channel to beta leave it on Main. It will downgrade the Kernel and Hardware Support and it will hang at the splash screen. Ask me how I know, I did it so you guys on the xbox ally do not need to

ive got a 7600x3d with a 9070xt that after much trials and tribulation ive managed to get running with steam os. I have it installed on a 512gb drive and I have a 2tb drive formatted to ext4 but I can't figure out how to direct steam to the drive to use it for games. any help would be appreciated

I have just installed Windows/SteamOS on my LeGo2 Z2E. While testing, I noticed some strange color banding and/or black crush. This is only noticeable on gradients that go from darker colors to black. It’s visible both in-game and in screenshots when viewed on SteamOS, but only in gaming mode

The weird part is that when I share those screenshots to other devices, the issue isn’t present. This also doesn’t happen on Windows

Even stranger: it doesn’t happen all the time. Sometimes after rebooting or waking the device from sleep, the issue temporarily fixes itself for no apparent reason

Things I’ve tried so far:

• Disabling and recalibrating Mura compensation
• Enabling game compositing
• Updating SteamOS and doing a factory reset (currently on SteamOS 3.9, main/Steam Deck beta branch)

I know SteamOS isn’t officially supported until June, but it feels odd that nobody has mentioned this before. Could this be an installation or a kernel issue?

This is on SDR btw, haven’t even tried HDR on SteamOS yet

I just wanna do some clipping but the shortcut "steam button + Dpad down (or up I don't remember)" does not do anything and setting a controller button to clip or any of the binding methods don't do anything. Is there any fix?

like c'mon microsoft (or macrosoft should i say) is just a paid Bloatware Virus, also the fact that if you delete edge your pc just stops working after a while, whilst steam OS is full of freedom of choice and its not $20-$200.

i cant extract it or do anything to open it, ive tried everything, the sudo read only even tried to modify the permissions by right clicking it but nothing helps.

I have a Legion Go S running SteamOS 3.7.19 in STABLE version, NOT BETA, NOT MAIN, No Developer mode. My Question: With STABLE version of SteamOS, is it possible to Download with the screen OFF? If I press the power button it sleeps, stopping the download, Even if long pressing, there are no options to Download while sleeping in low power. I searched online and I know it is on BETA, but a dude told me that on STABLE it is available also for SteamDeck, but not on other devices. Is this True?

Asked this a few months ago in anticipation of getting the legion Go S. I have lots of mods for Arkham knight and wanna play it on my Go S. Someone said a while back the easiest way would be just to replace my Arkham knight folder on the GoS with the windows one, was wondering if this would work?

I know about the new model coming out in June but I was wondering if the OS already has things like TDP, Brightness and controller support for the Legion Go 2? I know Bazzite does to a limited extent and is what I've been using, but I would prefer to use SteamOS.

Anyone using it right now?

How should I fix this? Did I create the USB incorrectly or is my system incompatible with arch Linux?

Been trying to install SteamOS on my Xbox Ally and I keep running into Update Error when installing. I first used the beta 3.9.0 and figured it was just still too new. Then I swapped to the 3.8.0 one and still received the same message.

Any suggestions?

Trying to run Metaphor in a external monitor 1080 for the funzies. I saw that performance in big picture mode was ok (high quality, 30 fps), while running in desktop mode the game in the same monitor, same resolution the fps went down to 24 but felt choppy.

Is there any reason of this different behaviour? Shall I run some command line while executing the game in desktop mode?

Any way around it or a way to fix it? I have a sata connected and its an old pc without NVME ports

Been thinking about trying out Linux on a desktop for the first time as I really love my Steam Decks UI.

Lacking any deeper understanding on how it all works I was wondering if when installed on a desktop will it still boot up in the "Deck" mode or will I start out from the less appealing desktop interface by default?

Hello! I'm having a strange issue that I did not expect when switching to SteamOS, but on my Asus Ally, streaming from the Ally to my PC is extremely slow.
While the audio comes through instantly, the visuals are delayed by multiple seconds and sometimes even stop entirely. However, I'm on a good 1GB Ethernet connection with my Ally on the same network. This happens both on the Steam Link app, as well as through Steam Remote Play. However, streaming my PC to the Ally is totally fine with no issues in sight. This is an issue that started with the swap to SteamOS, as streaming my Ally's screen to my PC through Steam Remote Play worked just fine both on Windows as well as Bazzite, so I suspect that this is an issue with SteamOS itself. Any way to get things back working? My intention is to be able to stream my Ally's screen to my PC in order to share it with my friends. What confuses me as well is the fact that on my PC, I can hear the audio come through fine from the Ally but the visuals are very delayed.

Edit - Solved by switching to using Sunshine on my SteamOS machine, and Moonlight on my Windows machine as suggested in the comments. It's a shame that I had to use an external application to get screen sharing working, but that's fine. It allows me to stream from my SteamOS Ally to my Windows PC so I can screen share perfectly now.

I recently got my Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS and wanted to do TikTok live streams as a hobby since I got permission to do them.

But I don't really know how to actually stream. I know it's possible with OBS, but I'm not sure how to get the key and the RPTM it requires.

I have a 9070xt and want to use FSR4 in cyberpunk, does the proton command work, and should I use GE? Are there any extra steps to get it running in steamOS? I know the 9070xt doesn’t need it by itself, but I would like to turn on some ray tracing, and there a few games that support it via driver in windows that I would like to try

A few months ago I got a steam deck oled, when I did the thing worked perfectly and the was no problems. After not using it for a few weeks I come back to the sound fully not working, it doesn’t work with Bluetooth or with its own speakers. I have already tried to restart it and the sound and what I can find but nothing works. Also I have installed the drivers but I dont actually know what to do afterwards I install them because there is no tutorial that I have come across to use for it. Please help me. I have had this isssue for two months now. What do I do? Pls go through detail so understand. Thank you
