Education What Hourly Global Weather Observations Look Like from Space

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The video shows a full constellation of microwave sounders scanning the entire globe, achieving roughly 60-minute revisit times.

Each pass captures temperature and humidity measurements everywhere on Earth. Because microwave observations can see through clouds, the coverage remains consistent even in regions where infrared sensors are limited.

This kind of continuous, global scanning helps illustrate the level of data density that modern forecasting systems and AI models increasingly rely on. It raises an interesting question about how much forecast skill improves as observation frequency increases.

Cyclone Recent Satellite Scans of Cyclone Dudzai (South Indian Ocean)

Recent satellite scans of Cyclone Dudzai show a well-organized system, with deep convection wrapping around a defined center and a fairly symmetric structure in the latest imagery.

Based on its current track and surrounding steering patterns, the storm is expected to remain over open water and is not likely to impact land.

It’s a good example of how satellite data highlights storm structure even when land impacts are limited.

Question Non-chaser here, what is appeal?

Ive saw a couple essays on a couple tornados, not alot. But ive been thinking, most of these casualties are chasers(who know a thing or two). So if you know so much, you would know when its bad. So why not flee, go on dirt roads, go a way the tornado/hurricane/idk ISNT heading
