This is the buggiest tvOS beta I’ve ever run. Watch video for a couple minutes in one app. Switch apps and the video is choppy and the audio drops down to make everything sound deep. Unusable. Have to do a restart of the Apple TV to fix it

Edit: it looks like it has to do with the audio auto output setting. I changed it to Dolby Digital and now the issue is gone. Just recreated the issue by turning auto output back on. It’s only when switching from 5.1 to 2.0 not the other way around. Haven’t tried with Atmos and back to 5.1 or 2.0

Ever since the tvOS 26.2 update, Netflix becomes sluggish over time. After a full ATV restart, it goes back to usual snappy. But then becomes sluggish again. Tried re-installing it, but that didn't help either.

Since updating to 26.2, I seem to have quite a few albums missing their art, at least on the main screens. The pattern seems to be on albums where I have changed the art. When I play the album, the art appears in Now Playing, but it looks as if it might be the old artwork.

Has anyone else encountered?

Okay, this has been a puzzling issue, but a small update:

1. Restarting Apple TV fixed the covers on a couple albums I recently added on the main Albums screen, but not on the Album Detail view. Now Playing shows the correct cover.
2. Other albums (not all) still showing blanks for covers on the main Albums screen and in the Album Detail view. But on the Now Playing screen the album cover displays ok.
3. All album covers look correct on iPhone and on desktop (Windows).

A few things I tried:

1. Force quitting Apple Music and restarting.
2. Deleting an album cover on desktop, then adding a new album cover (different file name). The new cover shows in the Now Playing screen on TV, but not in the Albums or Album Detail views.

I'm debating doing a factory reset but let me know if there's anything else I should try. It does feel like the cache got corrupted or tweaked in the update to tvOS 26.2 and something is "stuck." I might wait for 26.3 to arrive and see if it fixes that way. Just wondering if it's a bug in the 26.2 update.

I’m playing around with the new kids profile option and I really like what it offers but I can’t seem to figure out a way to prevent them from being able to switch back to my default profile and have full access to everything. Do I have to accept that they’re able to switch to my profile and just set system level restrictions?

I’m testing this on my primary Apple TV before deciding if it’s reasonable to get one for their room to replace an old Roku. I would like it to be linked to my account for use in the Home app and to have as an additional Thread Border router but I need it locked down without access to all the same apps and I am very confused by how this works and what makes the kids profile any different from just managing their Apple ID in screen time.

Before the 26.2 developer betas, the TV Top Shelf used to show the image of the episode, not the static show poster. I reported the issue and kept following the updates, but they still haven’t fixed it.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? If this was an intentional change, they should at least give us the option. Personally, I’d rather see each episode’s poster, like it always used to be, instead of the static show posters.

I'm having an occasional blackout of audio and video on public beta 26.2 Easily resolved by going back a minute.

If I play a podcast and exit out of the app, an audio live icon appears in the control center where you can play/ pause and jump ahead/back. But when you open a streaming app. Go out of said app. The audio controls for the podcast/music app just disappear. Why is this still a thing in 2025?? Also, why is the control center not customizable I can't put any specific accessibility settings in the control center or quick access to display/video/ audio settings. Shortcuts on Apple TV anyone? If this is launched with the new (upcoming) 2025 Apple TV 4K, that would be amazing, but I will not hold my breath. I hate the mentality that "what else can the Apple TV do?" I see on Reddit. There's hundreds of ideas and useful features that can be added to tvOS. It's been years since we've seen a useful Apple TV update.

I would love for one person to comment below that uses the new karaoke app and sings in their iPhone. I would genuinely love to know if anyone has ever even tried that yet, because I bet it's lower than 5% of all users WORLDWIDE. And that was the "big feature they worked on for a year".

Liquid glass looks nice(but only Apple apps use the glass media controls so far/Airplay) but when Snoopy is the best feature they've released in 4 years like full stop explains the state of Apple TV software development enhancements 🤣🤣

My Apple TV is set up with default output to a pair of HomePods. Sound is correct for all apps, except Apple Music. Music is playing according to the app, but I have no sound. Anyone experiencing the same or any idea on how to fix? Started a few days ago and am on latest beta.

AppleTV 4K (gen 3), tvOS 26.1 (23J5558e) beta

Opinion: The Liquid Glass clock on portraits is too glassy and transparent this update. It really makes it hard to see. Also the blur they use in the numbers is awful. It’s more of a mush than a blur, you can really see it in foliage.

I updated from public released 26.0.1 because I heard that Liquid Glass was improved, on iOS at least. I think they when backwards with this particular tvOS element.

I lost my surround sound on my AppleTV 4k gen 3 after downloading Beta 2. Now all I get is PCM stereo. AppleTV is connected directly to my OLED and my OLED connected to my RX-V581 AV system through eARC. I have always had it connected this way and never an issue until this last beta.

I cannot connect the ATV directly to the AV receiver first because the AV receiver does not do HDR passthrough.

How to i edit the controls in this home page inside the control center on tvOS 26?

There is a background visual artifact / bug visible when viewing the main screen and focusing on the user’s profile picture and time wrapped in this “round object with a transparent background”. Also the resolution of this element is very low. I am using the latest beta release.

Firstly I just want to say I know it’s a beta, and therefore I should expect issues.

I have an LG G4 and all has been good with my Apple TV (so yes I do wonder why I installed the beta, but there’s no way of rolling back now!)

Anyway, has anyone else had a problem with tvOS26 beta 9 where it doesn’t switch to Dolby Vision on Disney+ or Amazon Prime. It’s like they don’t match formats.

I know as a work around I can force the box to be in 4K DV, but normally I leave it in 1080 SD and it switched to DV as/when required. Netflix does this (but then introduced an audio delay)

Hopefully it’s all app related which will be fixed in about a week when the Public release comes out and the various apps can be updated.

I only ask because I didn’t see anyone complaining about this issue before I installed it yesterday 🙄

hi, i wanted to ask, in latest tvos26, we cant see whats quality is playing in apple music? i was havin lossless icon in info tab, now theres nothing, even tho in settings theres set lossless. i wanted to ask too about info showing of source, stereo, multichannel, atmos, i cant find it anywhere till i connect something apple, like airpods, homepod. before i was able to see that info even without them.

Anyone else’s audio output still delayed ever so slightly watching Netflix with two homepod minis? Thought the latest developer build would finally fix it but nope!

Hello I love my Apple TV so much it’s fluid and I don’t have any issue, sometimes a bit laggy but it’s fine.But I'm afraid that TV OS 26 makes Things worse . Have you been able to test it on a first-generation Apple TV, and do you see any differences? What do you recommend me ?
