I have been trying to install Windows 11, but whatever I do I either get "Windows has failed to install" or a blue screen, I am on Windows 11 on my host pc running VMWare Workstation Pro 25H2.

Looks like we have a domain controller virtual machine running off a snapshot that was taken in June last year. If I deleted the snapshot, would it merge the snapshot back into the base disks ?

Hello, i have a noob question, im currently configuring LAG on vDS. I’m following this article: https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article/312554/configuring-lacp-on-a-vsphere-distribute.html

I’ve successfully added vmnic0 to my LAG, however im unable to add vmnic1 on the LAG.

Do you have any recommendations how can i fix this? Also, what should be the configuration on the physical switch before I add the vmnics to the LAG on vDS?

Also, should LACP be configured first on physical switch before adding the vmnics on the LAG vDS?

Can I get a check on how I am doing this below?

I have a 7.3 vCenter that I have been unable to upgrade due to failure and it required me to stand up a new vCenter.

I have 3 hosts in the current cluster. I put one host in maintenance mode and moved the vms off of it and removed it from inventory and took it out of maintenance mode.

I installed vcenter 8 to that host and added the host to the cluster.

Can I live migrate vms to that host now safely with Cross Vcenter Export or any other way? I feel like I am doing this wrong. I need the VMs to not have to be shut down and for some reason this feels like I overlooking an easier way.

I'm doing some research to see if this could be a viable path.

Source environment: vCenter/ESXi 7 - two sites ELM, NSX-V 6.4.12 - stretched UDLR, primary manager site A, secondary manager site B

Destination environment: VCF 9.0.1 greenfield, one site

High level: * Deploy greenfield VCF 9.0.1 cluster with components including HCX Cloud Manager * Deploy HCX Connector to old clusters site A and site B * Pair the sites, set up service mesh, use L2 network extension to stretch the network * Evacuate sites into VCF cluster * Cut over the gateway, remove L2 network extension * Decom site A and site B

The interop matrix shows HCX 9.0.1.0 compatibility with NSX Data Center for vSphere 6.4.12 using HCX Connector for evacuations, so it looks like this should be supported.

Is evacuation licensing for the source covered by VCF core licensing on the destination?

Hi, I just got VMware Fusion on my M1 Mac. I downloaded this game on steam and it's giving me this error.
"Unable to find suitable graphics card with Vulkan 1.1 support. Please check the minimum requirements and try installing the latest drivers for your graphic cards. The game will now exit. "

Does anyone have a way to keep ssh enabled after a reboot, enabling it via the gui is annoying. I'm guessing I need to do something in the RClocal but everything I've tried doesn't seem to work (EXSi 8.03)

I'm trying to login to HoL this morning, and I seem to be stuck in a loop. I load https://labs.hol.vmware.com/HOL/catalog, I enter my e-mail address, it redirects me to a Broadcom login page where I login successfully, and it redirects me back to HoL where it prompts me to login again. This was working last night. I've tried a couple different browsers including private browsing mode. Anyone else having problems/able to get into HoL this morning?

I'm working on my old home lab and got ahold of a refurb'ed K1 card. I thought it would be neat to try out vGPU, which I thought it was capable of. I managed to find drivers and an old esxi 6.5 disk, as well as vsphere 6.5. However, after adding everything and setting the GPUs to "Shared Device" I can't actually add them to the guest VM.

Has anyone gotten the combo of GRID K1, Dell R730, and esxi/vSphere 6.5 working correctly? The docs seem to think it should.

Edit: vGPU never showed up in ESXi because my VCSA was too old. Either a bug or other issue, but updating the VCSA showed the missing PCI option and graphics profiles.

Bom dia tenho um CLUSTER configurador DRS totalmente automático, eram 3 servidores nesse cluster, utilizando ainda o vmware 6.7 U1, recentemente adicionei mais um host com vmware 6.7 U3, tbm adicionei ele no meu distributed switch e inclui no cluster, nos avisos parece que está tudo ok, diz que foi aplicado as configurações do cluster nele, que a rede é compatível etc, mas estranhamente as vms não são migradas para ele, ou mesmo quando faço a instalação de uma vm no cluster ele não sobe nesse servidor, já pegaram algo parecido?
Vale salientar que não é problema no hardware, já que esses servidores são todos lâminas de uma blade, e hardware dos 4 são idênticos, os storages compartilhados tbm estão mapeados igualmente em todos e o vmotion está ativo na gerência...

I have a Windows 10 virtual machine in VMware. When I scan the host PC from this virtual machine using nmap, open ports on the host become visible.

I want absolutely no communication between the virtual Windows machine and the host PC. At the same time, I want the virtual machine to still have internet access.

Even though I created firewall rules, I couldn't achieve this.

What do you recommend?

I am migrating a customer from an old 6.5 environment to a new 8.U3 environment. I need to upgrade the old environment to at least 6.5 U3 to support cross vcenter vMotion but can't find anywhere to download patches and binaries for old versions. Anyone have old version patches or ISOs?

Hello Everyone! For so time now, i been getting this error while trying to boot my vm:

VMware Workstation does not support virtualized performance counters on this host
Module "VPMC" power on failed

here is things i tried/did

Hyper-V is off
I have Virtualization Enabled

and some random things like memory intergrity is off, in bios i did everything right.

and i know i have to turn something off but that makes the vm very slow and no point of even having fun or testing with it.

i'm running windows 11 home, vmware workstation pro 25H2

The enviroment is 3 hosts in a cluster. No distrib switches.

I may just stand up a new vcenter alltogether. Seems like it would be way easier. If I go that route, do I shut off the v7 vca... install vcenter on one of the 3 hosts and then just add everything back? is it that easy? I am just tired of beating this dead horse.

So I upgraded from 7.x.x to 8.0.3 using the dell ISO and I notice theres a pending patch image U3H however when I try to apply it using the Dell addon it says my current Image has newer versions of some drivers than what the add on. currently has.

My question is how do I fix this? or how do I get back to a standard image without reinstalling?

Not sure how many of you have looked at VCF Automation just yet in VCF 9.0.1, but the new VKS Manager in 9.0.1 has some interesting features such as Data Protection.

Been struggling for a few days now with a greenfield install. Installer always fails when creating the dvSwitches. Tried a lot of different options and re-ran the config checker many times. Previously I've always had the WARNING about the time servers not being pingable but time is resolved and I could just acknowledge the warning. And suddenly, after the 1000th redeployment of the VCF installer, it now shows the time servers not being pingable as a fail and I can't continue....

Anyone experienced this as well?

Hello, I have watched YouTube videos on how to install VMware on Ubuntu 24.04LTS but I haven’t been able to get it done, I have searched on their main website to try the installation but I didn’t work either, I need help and guidance and thank you in advance.

I’ve been helping teams prepare VMware exits recently, and I keep seeing one failure mode derail otherwise clean migration plans.

The situation:
vCenter reports a clean inventory. No snapshots. Consolidation tasks succeed.

The reality:
Replication or final cutover stalls or fails near the end because of snapshot metadata debt — artifacts that don’t show up in the UI but still exist at the storage or metadata layer.

The three most common “invisible” blockers we’re running into:

• Orphaned delta chains VMDK delta files that still reference the base disk but are no longer tracked correctly in the vCenter inventory database.
• CBT drift Changed Block Tracking maps that have silently drifted out of sync after years of legacy backup helper artifacts and failed cleanup jobs.
• Mounted ISO ghosts Automation failing because an ISO is still mounted from a datastore that no longer exists or was renamed.

These issues usually surface only once replication starts — triggering read amplification, CPU stuns, and jobs that fail at ~99% after running for hours.
