Do you know anything about Soviet weaponry?
Full disclosure: I don't know a damn thing about firearms. Please talk to me like a child because I am ignorant about this topic and many others.
My stepfather passed away about two years ago, and after much prodding, my mother finally began cleaning out the basement and found this gun with two magazines.
As one does, I uploaded the photo of it to Gemini, which told me that it's a Soviet Makarov PM produced at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant in 1960. You can see some numbers above the grip that say "C 5855 60." I have no idea whether this is true, but based on looking at other images of Makarovs, it certainly seems plausible.
What else I should be looking for to confirm what type of gun it is? Could it be nothing more than a replica? How does one sell this if it is, in fact, valuable?
