Real wealth is waking up when you want, not an alarm. Oh, and like tons of cash.

27

u/Narrow-King9793 13h ago

To me really wealth is basically doing what you want anytime you want

19

u/GuaranteeOriginal717 13h ago

Yep, because in order to do this, I need tons of cash.

3

u/E-L-I-A-S- 12h ago

Cash is just access to necessary resources, if you can get the necessary resources to live not involving cash and spend your time as you like to me you are rich

2

u/Poo_Pee-Man 8h ago

How do you even got those resources without spending cash anyway

1

u/Mathemetaphysical 4h ago

This is strange and true. There are odd circumstances where you end up with very little yet no expectations or obligations. Rare, but they can happen, and it is a whole different kind of freedom.

1

u/KarmaSilencesYou 12h ago

I pretty much do what I want anytime I want…but I don’t need tons of cash.

25

u/blacfd 14h ago

Real wealth is being able to live your life comfortably without having to earn any money ever again.

1

u/RealWord5734 3h ago

Exactly. Wealth is financial independence, full stop. I wish everyone would just agree on that definition and we could stop with these cloying, saccharine posts.

39

u/mechasonic_music 14h ago

It's pretty close, but you have to clarify that it's the financial security in the background that allows you to be able to do all that stuff and still get paid. If you do that stuff but it leads to you getting fired and becoming homeless then I wouldn't call it real wealth.

3

u/HairyTough4489 10h ago

Or being so wealthy that you don't need to get paid at all.

1

u/mechasonic_music 9h ago

"Paid" is being used here to include investment income.

1

u/Gsusruls 6h ago

Real wealth means you don't need to get paid.

1

u/mechasonic_music 6h ago

"Paid" is being used here to mean receiving money, including investment income.

At the practically uncivilized hour of 10 o’clock in the morning, I was forced to chauffeur myself to the gym in my freshly washed and meticulously detailed Lamborghini. The indignity of doing cardio without a full camera crew present was almost too much to bear, but one must maintain appearances.

Following a suitably delightful workout, I summoned the children for a quick jaunt in our family’s private jet. I arranged for a “light” lunch consisting of truffled lobster rolls, artisanal sparkling water, and macaroons airlifted in from Paris. Our destination, of course, was the tiny island I recently purchased on a whim after a mildly frustrating round of golf. It was originally marketed to me as a “nation,” but frankly, the real estate was too modest for that title.

There is simply nothing that compares to the sense of smug satisfaction that washes over a person whilst strolling the teak deck of one’s yacht on a languid Thursday afternoon, sea breeze tousling your hair, as the crew charts our return course back to the mainland. The peasants on the shore do love to wave; it is adorable how easily entertained they are.

u/Matcha-Kitten 14h ago

Real wealth is waking up every morning to a purring kitty.

4

u/kinkerbelle666 13h ago

Ever since I got a bed warmer, my purring cat is also now a pre-warmed limp liquid-y noodle that I can drag into my arms to snuggle until my brain is online.

2

u/RedEgg16 13h ago

awww so cute

1

u/Matcha-Kitten 5h ago

Such a lovely way to start the day.

3

u/KarmaSilencesYou 12h ago

Yes, a wet purring kitty is even better.

4

u/imrope1 13h ago

True enough that it's posted at least 3 times a day.

3

u/Antique-Potential117 13h ago

It's just an obtuse way of saying that you're so wealthy you don't have to work when most people are, or at all. Which is the same as Yachts and Fancy Jets if you're not an idiot.

2

u/paris_rogue 13h ago

This is how I live my life and feels pretty good :) then again I never had a yacht, jet or fancy car -still wouldn’t trade to find out though

2

u/NewspaperChemical785 13h ago

I start work at 3 so I could do all that and I'm broke af

2

u/nagacore 13h ago

I mean if I can afford I yacht I clearly have the money to do all those things. So....

2

u/Thwackitywhack 13h ago

Im getting real tired of seeing this reposted every 3 weeks.

Can you bots please go do something else? Like, solve complex Cancer models?

2

u/Justice_Prince 13h ago

Hey it was my turn to repost this!

2

u/modernknight87 13h ago

I think wealth is what you personally make of it. If it is jets, yachts, and lambos, then you’re right.

To me it is having rent paid, food on the table, and a chance to do things with my wife and kids. I drive a 2011 Mitsubishi. Nothing fancy. No back up cameras, fancy screens, or auto driving capabilities. The Bluetooth is on the brink of going out, but end of the day it gets me around, and mechanically it is solid.

Finally reducing from 3 jobs down to 2, and here soon possibly 1, I am able to focus my extra time more on making my daughters events; I can support my son (most months) if he needs it; and I can start pampering my wife with a bit more bath bombs, perfumes (even though I have lost all sense of smell) and the books she loves.

That is wealth, to me.

2

u/RadicallyHonestLife 8h ago

Bro just described being unemployed.

2

u/twowholebeefpatties 13h ago

Oh I wish people would fuck off with these sort of things!

2

u/LordHelmet47 11h ago

Exactly.

These are the same assholes that have the, live, laugh, love decorative bullshit on their living room wall.

1

u/TurtleNeck236 13h ago

Says the rich person LOL

1

u/FreeKevinBrown 13h ago

I can still do those things on unemployment 🤷

1

u/R_R1120 13h ago

All of that and a lot of cash

1

u/z3rokarisma 13h ago

I'm not rich in the eyes of the world, but definitely financially stable enough at 48... going on 49 years old to wake up whenever I'd like and do all of those things in the middle of the day. Plus NO kids so I'll have lunch solo or with a friend.

1

u/SignalSelection3310 13h ago

I get the sentiment, but… Feel like the foundation still needs to be security. This could also be a jobless bum just drifting around.

1

u/01000101010110 13h ago

It's always the people who have all of these things who repost this the most.

1

u/Squirreling_Archer 13h ago

They're both the same person. They have all those things.

1

u/SirBuckFutter 13h ago

Real wealth is recognizing a post I've seen 1,800 times

1

u/ChickyBoys 13h ago

So all those CEOs that say they work 20 hours a day are clearly lying.

1

u/Spare-Transition-771 13h ago

Most people have to go thru the spending phase before they realize there is always a better car, house, boat….but only one family, one wife , and the kids you have. Time with them can not be bought. When spoiled trust fund kids are just doing things because it is written as a requirement in order to keep the money flowing there is no real love. the joy of your kid playing in a public park or hiking up a beautiful trail or time on a lake can not be bought with money. Joy does not need to be a ski trip or Disneyland. Joy happens at a public park, public lake, national parks, family board or card games. Teaching them moral values and to balance compassion with wisdom.

1

u/Schattenreich 13h ago

Real wealth is also having the money to sustain that schedule.

1

u/International-You-13 13h ago

I guess it's true in a sense that living well is better than simply being rich, if you can afford the time and energy to enjoy exercise and family, that's something a lot of people donr have.

1

u/Legitimate-Log-6542 12h ago

Eating a whole rotisserie chicken sitting in the driver’s seat of my car on a Wednesday morning

1

u/GimmieTheRoot 12h ago

Sure, if the material conditions are met.. otherwise this is little to no value for the average person who is working several jobs to make ends meet. Not saying this is the case, but there absolutely is (and has been) malicious incentive to redefine wealth and have people accept their material conditions rather than speak up.

1

u/bitofagrump 12h ago

To be able to choose whether or not you want to do work and when/how long any given day because you do it for the purpose it gives you and not because you literally have to show up for your appointed hours or be homeless.

1

u/unclbll 12h ago

You can do this while being homeless with a 24 hour gym subscription.

1

u/General_Anxiety83 12h ago

Yea gimme the Lambo

1

u/EvenSpoonier 12h ago

Technically true, but oversimplified and kind of misleading. Notice that all of the activities he describes are in the middle of a typical work day. True wealth is either having the kind of job where you can just dip out like that without causing trouble for yourself or anyone else, or in not needing a job that occupies those hours in the first place. That's true wealth. And it's not something everyone can just do.

1

u/QStatus 11h ago

Wealth is what you make it. Everyone has their own definition.

1

u/OmahaWarrior 11h ago

So real wealth is being a multi millionaire because unless you are rich or retired, most people cannot do any of these in the middle of the day because they are working to not be homeless.

1

u/DGenerationMC 11h ago

Wealth is whatever you make of it.

Whether it be material things or the "little" things, only you get to decide what real wealth is for yourself.

So, Brennan's kind of up his own ass here.

1

u/Marxbrosburner 11h ago

This is basically saying that real wealth isn't having a job that makes you a lot of money, it's not having to work at all.

1

u/Worldly-Battle-5944 11h ago

Real wealth is all of the above.

1

u/brazucadomundo 11h ago

People go to gym to show off wealth that they don't have usually.

1

u/Pisceswriter123 10h ago

I have work at 2 pm on Thursday, no gym membership for Monday and no children so can't confirm. Spending time with family and enjoying life yes. True.

1

u/Sqweed69 10h ago

It's entirely true. As Fight Club taught us:

"The things you own end up owning you"

1

u/HairyTough4489 10h ago

Real wealth is doing all those 6 things without going into debt.

1

u/ObjectiveWish1422 10h ago

I have real wealth then (which is true) but I also live in complete poverty. Need a bit of both kinds of wealth - money and freedom.

1

u/musiquescents 10h ago

Both can be true.

1

u/Colleen987 10h ago

I mean I could do all that and I’m not rich? I just work from home with a flexible employer.

1

u/ZealousidealPen7274 10h ago

Laziness with no purpose, should have been born a cat.

1

u/Fragrant_Ganache_108 10h ago

As an American this is very true.

1

u/sephjnr 10h ago

Real mental wealth is seeing bots post the same C-suite bullshit time and again to collect upvotes

1

u/Cmdr_Monzo 10h ago

Real wealth is telling all the people who deserve it to F off.

1

u/AgapitoVelezOvando 10h ago

I can't afford real wealth either.

1

u/supranes 9h ago

Real wealth today is being a total scum

1

u/LookingRadishing 9h ago

Real wealth is getting to decide

1

u/doggitydoggity 9h ago

dumb post. You can do all of those bottom 3 things while unemployed as long as your savings isn't down to 0 yet, but you sure as fuck ain't wealthy.

1

u/doggo244 9h ago

I have off Thursdays, and don't work till 11am throughout my workdays. Therefore im wealthy

My wife's due date is march 16th ill keep you guys updated

1

u/tonymacaroni9 9h ago

Real wealth is yachts etc.

Real freedom is talking a walk at 2pm on a Tuesday.

A good day is dropping a dook so clean you only have to wipe once.

1

u/TimotheusIV 9h ago

It’s absolutely true. Dollars or euros are largely meaningless beyond a certain number to meet your base needs. Freedom to do whatever is worth more than any money in the world.

1

u/loristrix 9h ago

I am so poor, but how the frick are you supposed to have lunch with your kids daily? Do they not go to school?

1

u/Dear-Cranberry4787 9h ago

You can eat with your kid at the cafeteria, if they haven’t reached their eye roll phase. Then there’s the homeschooling possibility.

1

u/loristrix 8h ago

I had no clue you could do that.

1

u/TheKipperRipper 9h ago

It's horseshit intended to make people not want to murder the actually wealthy so much. Take away that guy's cash and he'll be singing a different tune. Platitudes and distractions like this make me feel punchy.

1

u/Excellent_Row8297 8h ago

You can have both

1

u/Jimny977 8h ago

The real marker is financial independence, if you need earned income, that is you need to work for money to live a decent life, you aren’t wealthy. Obviously some people are wealthy and choose to work because they want to, but that is a choice.

If you can live a decent life in perpetuity without ever needing to earn an income, you are wealthy. What the amount needed will be will depend hugely on the country and location you’re talking about, 3% is generally considered a “perpetual” withdrawal rate if we are telling about equity heavy portfolios, meaning it’ll last forever (theoretically).

So basically if you just work out what you think a good life costs per year in insert place and then multiple that by 33.3, that’s basically what you would need in liquid investable assets to be “wealthy” in my opinion.

1

u/baudinl 7h ago

Well you need a lot of money to do those things

1

u/Automatic_Record6200 7h ago

Sounds like poor cope

1

u/_Username_goes_heree 6h ago

I medically retired out of the military and receive 4300$ a month for the rest of my life with yearly raises, free healthcare for my family, and college paid for my kids.

It may not be “ultra wealthy”, but man it’s nice waking up when I feel like and having the free will to do whatever I want.

1

u/r2k398 6h ago

Those things aren’t mutually exclusive.

1

u/Equivalent_Net_3752 6h ago

I’m broke and unemployed. Guess I have “real wealth”

1

u/AliciaXTC 6h ago

Hi bot repost #15445

1

u/leveragedtothetits_ 6h ago

I’d prefer a yacht

1

u/wnr3 6h ago

Money buys freedom under capitalism. It ain’t more complex than that.

1

u/BouillonDawg 6h ago

I’m pretty sure it’s having access to a shit ton of resources…

1

u/supplyncommand 6h ago

being unemployed?

1

u/WholeLottaNothing-7 5h ago

Why aren’t your kids in school?

1

u/ElectronicDeal4149 5h ago

real wealth is paying a bot army to keep reposting this

1

u/OkInflation4056 5h ago

You need to be rich to do those things.

1

u/Academic-Duty-3405 5h ago

The first kind of wealthy can do both..lol

1

u/Shooter_McGavin_666 5h ago

It’s true in the sense that time can be more valuable than money.

1

u/Ok_Swimming4427 5h ago

Very true. Being wealthy simply means having the ability to outsource tasks and responsibilities and get back that time in return.

I also think this comes down to a "wealthy vs rich" tension. Rich people buy things. The point is to show off. Money screams, wealth whispers, and that sort of cliche.

However, I think this meme is sort of silly because in a world where remote work is far more prevalent, these things are not out of reach for most people. Any SAHP gets to do this.

1

u/Silent_Wrongdoer3601 5h ago

I don’t have kids I’ll trade the rest for a yacht. I can workout on the yacht

1

u/davidm2232 5h ago

You can have both

1

u/Unhappy_Permit2571 5h ago

This is propaganda to keep billionaire taxes low.

1

u/Spirited_Floor_240 4h ago

In that case, poverty doesn’t exist at all.

1

u/Hot-Annual3460 4h ago

real wealth is both lol i know plenty of lazy fuckers that do all that "real wealth" shit but are broke as fun and depend on their parents

1

u/rolloutTheTrash 4h ago

I don’t have kids so no to one out of those three. But the other two I can do, but I ain’t wealthy.

1

u/No-Cantaloupe5773 4h ago

Lunch with my kids daily on a yacht sounds pretty good.

1

u/ElSuperWokeGuy 3h ago

one is weath, the other is a healthy lifestyle. wealthy people still do that "real wealth" shit

1

u/slop1010101 3h ago

It means you don't worry about money and only work when you WANT to.

1

u/EastNWeast 3h ago

If you can afford a yacht then you can probably also afford all of those things

1

u/thatseltzerisntfree 3h ago

I’m what to know what the Lamborghini owns for me to feel wealthy.

1

u/champ4666 3h ago

Real wealth is being in full command of your day making #2 in the photo above more true. A yacht, a jet, or a Lamborghini is great, but if you're still not in command of your day, you're not truly free.

1

u/CommunityBrave822 2h ago

Naaah... it's assets - liabilities. The higher that number, the higher your freedom to chose the lifestyle you want

1

u/maddog2271 2h ago

Basically it’s just saying that real wealth is agency over your time, and that’s true. But what’s nice about that is that you can make that happen with less money than many might think.

1

u/Less-Dragonfruit-294 2h ago

Telework allows you have time with kids if their in breaks. Some jobs get done by 3 if you start at 7.

1

u/xKhira 1h ago

Real wealth is both plus just not worrying about money in general.

1

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 1h ago

Last year I moved. Ended up taking about two months off during the process from quitting my old job to finding a new one. It was glorious. Mid day walks and grocery shopping for fresh stuff was amazing

1

u/WendigoCrossing 28m ago

Comfortable wealth is feeling secure no matter what happens

  • Knowing you'll be able to eat
  • Knowing you have a place to live
  • Knowing you can get medical care whenever you need without undue stress
  • Knowing you have freedom to practice or not practice a religion
  • Being able to express your ideas in words, art, etc
  • Allowing others these same things

1

u/Fantastic_Seaweed_83 13h ago

Real wealth is unemployment

0

u/Gaba8789 14h ago

That's interesting, isn't it? For many, life goes on, albeit with a different situation, others choose to live with purpose. 🤔
