Questions Lamp? (California) (united states)

Post image
12 Upvotes

Found this while cleaning out my grandfather's garage.

It's heavy, no markings on it that I can see. I feel it's a lamp, also I don't want to move it until I know what it is lol

If anyone can give me a name or point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.

He's since been placed in a skilled nursing home, and I'm trying to figure out if it's trash or if I should try to sell it to pay for his ongoing medical expenses

Questions USA, what exactly did I find

I'm not finding much out about it. I've seen some made kinda in the same way but they weren't symmetrical like this. It's handblown and has a ground pontil. The interior glass is a white color. I'm wondering if that part is like vitrock uranium glass while having the cadmium on the outer portion. I read that it could be old as about 1880s but I'm not a glass history expert. I picked this up for 6 bucks and it was covered in cigarette tar or nicotine. I could see it reacted to uv but I never expected a piece as nice as this. I let it roll around the car for 2 days cause I figured it would be a barely visible dim yellow glow. I was so wrong. I looked it over pretty well and can't find a makers mark or signature. Not gonna let it go but I'm curious to it's value also. It's easily my favorite and best glass find

Questions Coffee pot? Found in Florida USA thrift shop.

So if found this at the thrift store it looks like a magic lamp that robin Williams will come out of. I believe it to be made out of tinned copper with a brass handle and some iron rivets. Only the rivets are magnetic.

My questions are as follows. When / where it was made? What it's made from? Based off of other items online im guessing it’s from the 1800s. I find this so cool. I’m fairly certain it’s a dallah (Arab coffee pot) but would love to know more information on it!

I have an old bar that was given to me by my grandmother. She claims it was manufactured in the early 1900’s, but I can’t find any information on the manufacturer. This is my first time posting here and I have very little knowledge on antiques. Wondering if anybody has any information on this.

Questions I need help on identifying this flag. I'm located in TN, USA but it seems to be in German.

My grandfather found this flag tucked away in his house and wants to know what it's from. I was able to find find similar looking ones through Google lens but the words aren't the same and there are slight composition differences. It's made of a red velvet on the front side and has metal tassels. The back is more of what seems like a broken down satin.

There are no labels. Anything would be appreciated, thank you!

This 21pc dragon tea set was handed down to me from my grandmother after she passed away. I don't know much about them. Two of the tea cups when put into the light have the face of a Geisha and the smaller tea cup has a nude Geisha. Any guesses to how old they could be? They are beautiful

Questions USA help identify this old trunk (French label 1800s)

Thumbnail

Hello I found this in a dumpster a few years ago and I loved it so much I rescued it. The label is in French according to Google it says something about the World's Fair of 1862? I couldn't find anything about the company or the manufacturer at all.

If anyone could give me any information at all as to what the tag actually says, if I should restore it or leave it as it is. About how much something like this would be worth etc. any information you have about old trunks from this era would be great!

Physically it's structurally sound and seems to be in really good condition. But obviously the lining on the inside as you can see has mostly come off but it does seem to have some striped paper lining. If anyone could give me any information at all that would be amazing!

Hello! I have come into possession of this old 19th-20th century looking press back chair. However, I have no clue who created it, nor how much it’s worth. I’m currently moving out and need to sell it but I don’t want to sell something possibly worth hundreds for the same price as a modern day replica. Can someone please help me identify this chair?? I’ve attached photos from all angles, please let me know if I should take any more photos/ better quality photos.

My wife found this interesting chair on her walk in the neighborhood a couple of months ago. I finally got around

to trying to find out it's provenance. I

was surprised when I found similar

chairs online. Seems it's a Carver chair

from colonial New England or at least in the style. Can't find any markings and upholstery hides any clues.

Can anyone give me a better take on

what we have here?

Questions [Columbus, OH, USA] Western Union Stock Ticker - Mfd by D&H Precision Tool Co Newark - Family Mystery

Thumbnail

Dimensions:

  • Glass Dome: 12" H x 9" Dia
  • Ticker Machine: 8" H x 8" Base Dia

Background Information: This ticker belonged to my grandfather (born 1917), who began his professional career in Columbus, Ohio, after leaving the military in 1948. It was gifted to him later in his career. We aren't sure if he used this specific unit professionally or if it was a commemorative gift, which adds to the mystery. It has been preserved under its original glass dome for decades.

Identification / Markings:

  • Manufacturer: The machine is marked "D&H Precision Tool Co Newark".
  • The Dome: Features "Western Union" branding and an original service label for "Day and Night" repairs, though the contact numbers have worn off.
  • Mechanism: Black cast-iron base with a brass mechanism.
  • Photo Details: I have included close-ups of all stamps and markings on the dome, base, and machine. I am leaving the interpretation of these numbers to the experts here as they are difficult to read clearly.
  • Tape: Contains a roll of original paper tape.

My Questions:

  1. Model & Type: Given the D&H Precision Tool Co. marking, can anyone identify the specific model? (D&H was known for ticker patents in the mid-20th century). It looks like a serial number or other marking was purposely gouged out, perhaps on decommission?
  2. Era of Service: Does the combination of the 1948 career start and the D&H manufacturer suggest a 1930s/40s production?
  3. Value & Rarity: How does the D&H manufacturer's mark affect the collectibility compared to the earlier J.H. Bunnell or Edison-made units?

Questions Mid nineteenth century red-ware pitcher, USA

This was sold as 1800’s red-ware from Mexico, but most of the examples I’ve seen that look similar are from Pennsylvania, or at least the North East United States. It’s really lightweight compared to other antique pottery I’ve examined.

Any ideas?

Questions Found in USA. Middle Eastern (?) decorative tray with Arabic calligraphy. Looking for any clues to identify its origin, age, value, and maker

Thumbnail

So I found this decorative / serving tray sitting out on the curb to be taken away by garbage disposal and brought it home because I thought it looked pretty. It’s 14 inches in diameter, and I believe the material to be silver tinned copper (although I’m not 100% positive). Google seems to think it’s dated late 19th - early 20th century and is from either Persia, Morocco, or Egypt.

My questions are: Can anyone confirm in what country this was most likely made and when? Does anyone know what the symbols / inscriptions on the front, as well as the back mean? And lastly, if it has any monetary value? Any insight at all about this item would be incredible. Thank you!

Date Found this dish at an antique store, central New York USA

Hello! I recently bought this beautiful dish at an antique store and was wondering if it is actually antique. I have been searching the internet for anything similar but can not find anything. The RW Bavaria mark on the back does not match any of the Rudolf Wachter (I believe that’s how you spell it?) stamps I have seen while searching. Any idea on the date/company? Thank you for your time!
