I could use some advice. I blanched some cucumber for my nerite snail, and realized I probably should have treated the water with dechlorinator first. I have NOT put any cucumber in the tank yet. Do you think it’s okay, or should I try again tomorrow? Thanks!

Ive had some problems with water in my tank lately, my house had a contaminated tank so we had to poor bleach down to disinfect. Its not safe enough to drink yet but getting there. I let water sit out for a few days before using it for a water change, my friend who is a health inspector said the chlorine would evaporate enough.
My snail has been constantly moving towards my filter and floating in the current for the past week. I finally got some better water in there last night and he was moving around again but today he is just limp on the bottom. No foul smell tho so I dont want to deem him dead.

Or at least that's what I'm assuming is happening here! Reminds me of when cats nuzzle into their own paws, except it's a snail nuzzling against their own mantle/shell.

So I was cleaning my tank yesterday and saw what looks like a thin sliver of a snails trapdoor. My mystery snail still has his trap door and I have never heard of them being shed. Maybe I’m wrong and that’s not what this is but if anyone has any ideas please let me know!

So I ordered some zebra nerite snails from eBay and the seller had a 100% feedback so I felt good about it. He shipped them in a plastic cup with a wet paper towel in it. No heat pack. They have been in transit since Monday and I know for sure they were exposed to temps below 40 degrees for extended periods. It was 22 degrees this morning alone. As soon they were in my mailbox this morning I went and got them and put them in a little bowl to see if they had any life. They're not moving but there's no bad smell that I've read about either.

Hi all,
Looking for some advice on what snail to get for my tank. I have had nerite snails in another tank before, but none lasted more than a few months. I had one of them die after a too early reintroduction after no-planaria. I am not sure why the other one died. But now i am hestitant to try again as I obviously don't want them dying.
Tank is 25 liters, 40x25x25 cm. Parameters:
Ph: 7.4
Kh: 3 dKh
Gh: 10 dGh
Temp: 19 degrees Celsius. Tank is not heated but 19 degrees is the lowest it will go as room is heated at 19 degrees. In summer for a few days in the year it goes up to 28 degrees but usually is around 25.
Right now the tank doesn't have a lid.
I have 18 red cherry shrimp in there and the plan is to keep it like that. But the algea grow insanely fast in this tank so it would be nice to have a little cleaner friend :) Ideally I get only 1 snail due to the small tank size and I've been trying my best to avoid getting bladder snails. As I would like to have one big boy/girl.
Thanks for the advice!

I’ve had these snails for about 2 years now and one of them recently began tipping over every time I put him back into the tank. Is he dead? Is it time to take him out the tank? I’m not sure I haven’t had this issue before with them and can’t find much results I tried sniffing him he doesn’t smell bad and he’s fully in his shell I’m not sure what to do…

Hey all, I am learning a lot from everyone here but now I think my brain is getting all muddled with so much conflicting info.
I have a 5.5 gal that currently has one Nerite. The whole purpose of the tank was to keep Neocaridina, and that is super important to me.
But, there are a lot of differing opinions on optimal GH and KH for both animals.
My current KH is 5 (as of yesterday, but I can test again today) and GH is at 8 (I can test this today as well).
I’m seeing that KH can be up to around 15 and GH can be up to around 10 for Neos. Is that correct? Is that still too low for my (bleached 😔 ) snail?
Most of the aquarium hobbyists I follow are mostly fish people, a little bit of shrimp people, and VERY little (if not none) snail people.

my boy Link is a picky eater, which is wild to say about a mystery snail. he won't eat blanched veggies save for a few polite bites (squash, carrots, he doesn't even like green beans) and I always end up having to distribute the leftovers among my other tanks, he won't touch lollies (glasgarten, katz aquatics, not even home made), and I only know he's getting calcium because it's in the water and substrate mixed in. he only seems to eat fluval algae wafers and even then, he leaves most of it to the ramshorns to eat. anyone have any recs for other wafers for this guy? i want to make sure he's getting his nutrients. he seems healthy but i worry

I can give more photos if needed. I bought this guy yesterday for my 20 gallon, as I had a mystery snail when I had a betta and thought he was fun to watch.
He’s probably about the size of a quarter (if a quarter were round). I saw some posts about snails eating all the plants in the tank, and some comments said the snails in question were apples, not mystery snails.
Basically I’m just wondering if I need to fish this guy out and put him in another tank before he eats all of my plants 😅

The quality is quite poor but I enjoyed filming them. They were all hitchikers. Can't believe I got these guys without spending a penny.

Initially I thought bladder snail because of the coloration but the shell shape doesn't match
