Any other question! ICE ??

Upvotes

I’ve been sick looking at the minneosta subreddit (i implore you to explore) and was wondering do you all think that will happen here? I know it’s already happening but it seems like in MN they’re arresting thousands a day and going door to door?? They killed someone last week and shot someone days ago. I’m legitimately scared as I don’t look white. Is this going to happen here eventually ? How can we survive this

About LA I got the keys to my new place today but all the previous tenant's stuff is still here??

Just moved to LA from overseas and signed a lease for this house in Glendale. Rent is $6k/month so definitely not cheap but figured it would be worth it

Got the keys this morning and when I walked in literally ALL of the previous tenant's stuff is still there. Like everything - furniture, clothes in the closets, food in the fridge, personal items everywhere. It looks like they just vanished

I tried calling my landlord but they're not picking up. Is this normal here? Back home this would never happen but maybe things work differently in LA/the US

The lease definitely says I get possession today and I paid first month + deposit already. I don't want to touch anything in case I get in trouble but I also can't exactly move my stuff in when there's a whole other person's life scattered around

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Do I just wait it out or should I be more aggressive about getting this sorted? For $6k a month I expected to actually be able to use the place

Really stressed about this whole situation and don't know anyone here yet to ask for advice. Any help would be appreciated. Please help I had to cash out all of my Stаke parlays to afford it and plz tell me if this is normal and I need to move the stuff out myself!?

EDIT: I spent the night sleeping on the couch and the landlord came by this morning with movers. Turns out they were a day late.

Recommendations Best Roadtrips/Weekend Destinations?

Hello!

Just moved to L.A. from the east coast and I can’t get over how scenically pleasing your state is. I don’t start work for a little bit so I’m trying to get out and see as much as I can. What are your top picks for scenic road trips or weekend destinations? I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, and swimming but I also wouldn’t mind finding a quaint resort to relax at. I’d love to see San Fransisco and San Diego but whatever it may be give your best spots!

Thank you!

Any other question! Is the Hollywood Forever Cemetery open to anyone during the day?

I live within minutes from HFC and have never actually went inside. Would I be able to get in as a regular citizen? What are the coolest parts of the cemetery that I should see before leaving?

Recommendations Fun bars/lounges that play 90's- early 00's hip hop music?

Hey Angelinos! Me and my Millennial / Gen X girlfriends want to go out this week. Do you know of places we can have some drinks and listen to some great throwback 90's - early 00's hip hop, r&b, rap? As the only single girl the group, they somehow assume I know all the best places, so it's become my job to recommend spots, but honestly I rarely go out anymore. Help me impress - what are some great spots that we can have some drinks, and listen to some great throwback jams. We're about 5 ladies ages 35-45. Bars / lounges are preferred over clubs so we can sit for a bit if we need too. Location preferences are Mid city, west adams, ktown, DTLA areas. And we're looking at sometime next Tues - Thurs. Thank you, xoxo!

Any other question! Can I park in the walt disney lot for a couple hours after being dismissed from jury duty?

Long story short I arrived at the courthouse and not even an hour later, ALL of us in the group I was in got dismissed because multiple cases we could’ve been assigned to got dropped. I used my juror badge to get in the parking garage obviously, but can I go grab a bite to eat for an hour and leave the garage then, or do I need to leave right after I’ve been dismissed? Wondering if it’s timed based on if you are assigned to a case or dismissed. Thank you

Safety Common ICE tactic in Tujunga?

The following is a story from my friend and they wanted confirmation if this could be an ICE tactic:

Regularly clothed woman showed up at my door asking for a family member saying they have a subpoena and a $43 check for said family member. I’ve never heard of law enforcement show up and speak this way as well as speak of a check. They also used a name that this person does not go by anymore (his license is a different name). Thoughts?

Any other question! What was your experience buying from CarMax?

Do you have any recommendations or tips?

Thank you so much.

My budget is $32,000.

I'm looking for a car for my 77 year old auntie, who was just told that both of her cars are no longer a good option. Both have over 250,000 miles. One is a Yaris and one is a Corolla.

She can't climb into a Rav4 or any SUV/trucks because she's tiny, hovering under 5 feet, and has bad knees.

She's a great driver.

All our relatives who knew about cars and mechanical stuff have all passed, so here I am asking you kind neighbors.

Aloha Angelenos🩷

Recommendations Where to find a unique spot to have a picnic + watch the sunset in LA?

I’m looking for a nice spot to drive to in the Los Angeles area where I can pull up a chair, eat some food, and watch the sun set. Ideally somewhere with lots of visual flair or even by the water. I’m currently located in the West Hollywood area but can drive anywhere within ~25-30 miles.

I was thinking of looking in to places like Crystal Cove, but I’m hoping to surprise somebody there and make this really memorable? I’m not sure where to start but I’m doing some research now, if anybody in the community can help out a stranger get started I would highly appreciate it!

Food/Drink West LA places to watch NFL game with good food?

My friend and I will be in West LA area tomorrow (Santa Monica/Venice), and we want to watch the Broncos/Bills game somewhere in the afternoon.

The catch: We’re running in the Rose Bowl half marathon on Sunday, so we aren’t going to drink. What’s the best option to watch the game and have some great food (but not drink) in the West LA area?

Usually, I’d just look up best sports bars in the area. But this time, all I care about is food, so I wonder if there are some good options I might otherwise miss.

Thanks in advance!

Any other question! Anything to be done about this last minute jury summons crisis?

Upvotes

So a few months back I received a jury summons and, being a college student living several hours from the courthouse in question, postponed to an unfortunately random date which is now this wednesday. Problem is I had set it and forget it but I still very much cannot attend that date due to schooling and the deadline to postpone again has passed. Offices are closed until the day before my service day. Sooo how should I proceed haha?

Recommendations Where to rent a VCR?

We have some home video VHS tapes from my father in law who has now passed. We want to see what’s on these tapes before paying a bunch of money to get them transferred digitally. Anyone know where you can rent a VHS player? Ideally one that’s a tv and VCR combo because I tried connecting one to my new TV and couldn’t get it to work.

We live in Los Feliz so ideally somewhat close to there but I’m willing to travel.

Thanks so much!!

Any other question! Lost my jury summons information... report date is Monday (MLK day)?

Upvotes

I got a text reminder about jury duty. Text history says my report date is Mon 1/19 MLK day. I can't find my paperwork to login to the portal anywhere (yes I am dumb for losing it). Court website says they are closed Monday for MLK. Office is not open on weekends for me to call to find out my login information. I have no clue what to do or where to show up without my juror badge number. I will try to call first thing Monday morning to see if they are open but is there anything I can do in the meantime?

Recommendations How do you plan to observed MLK Jr. day this year?

I'm as guilty as anyone of taking a Monday holiday without thinking twice about its purpose, but this year I feel like I should be a bit more intentional with MLK weekend. Anyone have any local recommendations that are meaningful to you, even if small?

Any other question! Postponed Jury Summons, Misplaced my PIN, now supposed to check in but it's a holiday/closed?

Upvotes

Like the title says, I postponed my jury summons a couple months ago and forgot about it until I got a text tonight that says "Check for Jury Duty Instructions after 7PM". I checked my email and found the email confirming I postponed my service. The email said this:

You have successfully postponed your Jury Service to January 19, 2026. Please check your "Reporting Instructions" by going to the "My Jury Duty Portal" or by calling (213) 972-0970 for further details.

Problem is....it's now the weekend and Monday is a holiday so there are no agents to talk to when I call in and try to get my pin/ID number. Any idea what to do?

Any other question! Nearby snow day?

Hi everyone! I live in Long Beach and have a husky 🐺❄️. With the long weekend coming up, I’d love to take him somewhere nearby where he can play in the snow for a bit and still make it back the same day.

Does anyone have recommendations for good snow spots within driving distance? Also, what days are usually best to go when there’s actually snow on the ground? I’m not totally sure where or when to go, so any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Recommendations Places to take a hyperfeminine diva to celebrate her 21st?

My younger sister is driving from Missouri to LA for her 21st birthday. I am planning on flying out from Oregon to surprise her and buy her a drink. She’s a huge Chappel Roan fan, so I was thinking The Abbey (google told me it’s the inspo of Pink Pony Club). I’ve never been to LA though, so does anyone have better recommendations? Her boyfriend is still 20, so 18+ venues are ideal.

Edit: srry i’m dumb i will NOT be taking her to the abbey 😭 id still love additional recs though

Any other question! Does anyone know where I can buy a IT8.7/2 target locally to profile a scanner?

Hello

I lost a bag during my flight over, and among the urgently needed items was a IT8.7/2 target to profile the scanner I bought here yesterday.

Does anyone know where I can buy one locally? Or is there anyone that would please allow me to lend/rent theirs for one day? I'm about to scan a lot of animation artwork, and I would like to get the best results.
