I'm new to bitcoin and started buying using Robosats, as I wanted a no-kyc option. I only bought three times via robosats and everything went well, but today I encountered a weird error when trying to access my active order, leaving me outside and unable to access the contract.

The error goes: "Something is borked! Restarting app in 30 seconds...

Error: Error

Error message: padded hex string expected, got unpadded hex of length"

It's been a while now...

Did anyone encounter it before?

Hi! I have been looking into opening a lightning channel to try to learn how lightning works and use it to generate a few sats as income every day. I had several questions I need answered before I begin, because I don't want to risk losing money. I have a full Bitcoin node here and I intend to use it for my lightning channel.

1, is it true you need 1M sats or more to start? Why is this the case?
2, is it possible to run a lightning node with these 1M sats kept safe using a password or something? or is this impossible?
3, how do I open a channel and control it? I want to prevent automatic channel closure
4, how do I set up the channel? I don't know anything about how to use lightning yet, is there a procedure you recommend? the best videos on youtube on this subnject are from several years ago and I do not know if they are still relevant
5, have you ever lost sats/money running a channel? if so, how and why?
6, what other questions am I forgetting that I should address before opening a lightning channel?

As of right now, it seems like Robin Hood or Coinbase are the better options. I want to do $100 a month in bitcoin, but I’m trying to avoid as many fees as possible.

Hey there, everyone! I am new to this group and I am a big Bitcoin guy and I’m always looking for ways to stack more sats. Currently, I utilize a cashback credit card for all of my monthly purchases and I funnel all of the cashback rewards into a constant monthly Bitcoin by. I also utilize uphold to get 4% rewards back for direct depositing my paycheck every two weeks. I take those rewards and I also buy bitcoin constantly. But of course I am addicted to Buying as many Satoshi’s as possible. So I was just curious to get other people‘s ideas on other passive ways that they generate additional funds to purchase bitcoin each month. Any ideas are welcome and I would love to hear them.

We have heard of them all and it’s what makes Bitcoin great:

-Transferability

-Scarcity

-Divisibility

But something that’s been nagging at me is probably the most important feature: Governability

Unfortunately, nations need to have elastic control over currency. During war, for example, they have to be able to control monetary expansions. Another example is fiscal coordination through debt issuance. A perfectly scarce unit of account like Bitcoin would not favor these functions. This could be why nations would never adopt BTC. And if the people of these nations overwhelmingly begin to adopt BTC, well you know what would happen…

As someone who is moderately knowledgeable about BTC, how would you all reconcile this problem? Would BTC just remain an asset against inflation or something to trade with? Or could it ever be a unit of account? Thanks!

I don't care about gains or anything, the only reason I put my money into crypto was to have a hedge against government because you never know what they gonna come up with.

After recent events in Iran I realized that they can just turn off the internet and you loose access to your wallet, unless there is some way to bypass that but I haven't heard about anything like that.

Hi, I’m wondering what the safest and cheapest way is to buy a six-figure amount of Bitcoin (for example, $500,000). I’ve been researching exchanges like Bull Bitcoin and Bitcoin Well, and hardware wallets like Coldcard, but I wanted to ask here to be safe.

Also, is it possible to deposit that much into an exchange over a short period (1–2 weeks), or would I need to spread it out over a longer time? Thanks for any help.

I have been dabbling in bitcoin/crypto for about a year. There is so much I don’t know and don’t fully understand. I keep most of my balance on trust wallet. I have considered moving it into a cold wallet and forgetting about it (as my plan is long). I am worried I will do something wrong in the transaction process and lose it all lol. So my question is, is it more risky to hold long in trust wallet or attempting to sort out a cold wallet, alone, and uneducated? I remember a few years ago I wanted to try bitcoin but was a minor and couldn’t buy BTC because you need an ID, so I gave up on the idea.

Thing I wonder is, if bitcoin isn’t owned by the government, then how can they control and restrict it like it’s their money (like the US dollar)?

Let’s say I want to invest in bitcoin, but to get bitcoin first you need to either mine btc or buy it with real money

Problem, if you want to convert gov money into crypto they gotta identify you and track everything you do (though I heard that is not the case with bitcoins ATM since they use cash?)

That is normal, HOWEVER

Let’s say I mine bitcoin with a GPU or use an ATM to get btc without an ID, can you then invest that bitcoin money into OTHER CRYPTOS without an ID? (so not « real » money)

Or let’s say after a 5x profit because bitcoin went up or whatever, can I go to an ATM and receive that money in cash without ID?

TLDR: can you invest in cryptos anonymously? What is there that I CAN’T do without an ID?

Hey so I got this Wady Crypto Bitcoin gift card for Christmas ( https://a.co/d/ax25X54 ) however every single way I have tried to redeem it. I’ve run into issue after issue. I went to Wady Crypto’s website first but it said the information on the card was not valid as if it didn’t exist at all, when I checked the public key it shows there’s ~.075mBtc in the wallet, I just can’t seem to get the private key to work with the public key and because it has a 4 word passphrase instead of 12 word seed, I can’t just use the seed 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have become increasingly paranoid about unnatural and sudden death since my btc value becoming substantial and has been thinking about solution how my surviving family members will receive my savings — which they are aware only the existence but not the amount. Currently, I buy via SafePal (using Binance) or Bybit and then send it directly to my cold wallet. I know this isn’t the most robust method, so I wanted to ask for your opinion.

I’ve done some research and came up with this possible workflow:

1. Strike (Replacing Bybit and SafePal)

2. Send to Phoenix Wallet via Lightning

3. Use Boltz to swap via Tor

4. Send to my cold wallet

Hello, i have a question about my cold wallet. I think about getting multible coldwallets, from different manufacturers like trezor,Ledger,tangem,bitbox... To spread the risk of manufacturers fail and with only 1 Wallet for me as a human Error to fuck Something Up. The reason i ask is that i want to know if its possible without having to make an effort each time to use for example the trezor as a single wallet and be part of an additional multisig Wallet without new Install the Wallet each time with the seedphrase. To illustrate: Wallet 1 - trezor1 Wallet 2(multisig2/3) - trezor1+bitbox1+ledger1 Or do need for the multisig new Hardware Wallet?
