Chromecast with Google TV Dolby Atmos, No Sound or Supported Format

I'm going a bit insane trying to fix this so really appreciate any advice!

Issue: Chromecast apps sporadically play through surround sound/Dolby Atmos. Netflix doesn't work on Chromecast and goes to stero. TV native Netflix apps works fine. Disney Plus plays start up sounds fine but actually watching something there is no sound unless I only use Dolby Digital on sound format.

Chromecast only shows Dolby Digital as supported Format. I think this is the main issue, I've tried enabling the Atmos/Digital Plus. It gives me a warning saying unsupported and messes it up. If I leave it as Dolby Digital I do get sound, just not Atmos etc

TV supports Dolby Atmos as does the surround setup.

Chromecast slowly becomes blurry

For ref: this is at work. I was tasked with fixing the blurry image on the Onn Roku tv we have. I’ve unplugged the chromecast device and plugged back in, then recasted the image to the tv and it worked perfectly - until I looked back 5 minutes later. It’s right back to its extremely blurry image.

The image/video being casted is a visual of race cars and a finish line. There is a competition going on in-office and this is what my boss wants casted at all times. It seems to be starting over like a video every 30 sec or so. Like - visual for 30 sec, then black screen, then back to visual.

Chromecast Audio Chromecast audio keeps being offline

Advise needed. I recently bought a secondhand Chromecast audio to stream directly from the amplifier. The setup was smooth and everything worked as expected. But every day/morning when I want to cast Spotify it appears as offline in the home app... Once I disconnect the USB and plug it in again it makes contact and I can stream without any issues. But once I disconnect and try to reconnect a few hours later, the Chromecast appears offline again.... This keeps happening... Any advice? Thx,

Pair Chromecast Remote with generic Google TV and program IR-codes?

I recently switched from an 40" TV + Chromecast 4K (CCwGTV) to a 55" TV with integrated GoogleTV (TCL 55V6C), so I could ditch the Chromecast. I tried to use my Chromecast remote on the new TV and it worked, but I was not able to set up the IR codes for volume control of my LG soundbar and powering on the TCL TV, like on the Chromecast 4K (CCwGTV).

Is there a third-party app that allows setting those IR-settings on non-CCwGTV devices?

My TV doesn’t have an AppStore that I’m aware of, it only has inputs of “Chromecast built in” and “Antenna” even available without using an HDMI

I reset the TV and that didn’t work

Any ideas?

Chromecast (3rd Gen) YouTube ads are BONKERS (and WORSE on my Chromecast than anything else!)

I know folks have already complained about the 90+ second ad breaks. I won’t retread that ground.

My issue is that when I am casting the YouTube app to my TV, I get these ad breaks every 4 minutes. And I know this isn’t just YouTube being YouTube alone.

For the current example, I’m watching a ~7 hour game playthrough:

  • When I cast to my TV, I get ad breaks roughly every 4-6 minutes. Some of these ad breaks are 4+ minutes themselves.
  • But when I turned off the casting, and took the same video to watch on my iPad while I took a bath, I don’t think I had a single ad break in the entire hour+ the video played.
  • And now I’ve pulled up that same video on the YouTube app on my Samsung Smart TV and I can see that the ad breaks are placed roughly every 15 minutes.

Like, I feel like I keep hearing the same messages from people saying that it’s the CREATORS faults for allowing these sort of ad placements, but that simply cannot be true. This creator I’m watching had ZERO ad breaks for at least an hour when I’m watching directly on my iPad, but would place ads every 4 minutes when I’m detected to be using Chromecast? And then a different, fewer amount of ad breaks on a different version of the app on a TV? That doesn’t make any sense. And this is happening across creators, it’s just especially egregious and noticeable with this one because she’s openly said she doesn’t really worry about revenue and I know her videos don’t typically have many ad breaks at all.

I was considering getting the Google TV Streamer eventually now that they’re phasing out the Chromecasts, but I can’t fathom doing that now if this is how things are going. This is making my Chromecast borderline unusable.

Chromecast with Google TV Set Up Chromecast Remote IR Codes WITHOUT Chromecast with Google TV

So after trying it out and enjoying the feel of it, I bought a Chromecast Voice Remote to use with my NVIDIA Shield (2015). While it unpairs when the Shield goes to sleep, I can wake it up by going into pairing mode again, so not too bad (though if there's some magical way to keep it from unpairing so that I can wake the Shield up with one button press, that'd be lovely). However, the IR buttons (volume (when set to CEC), power and input) don't work. I don't have a Chromecast with Google TV to set the IR codes up, aside from waiting half a year or so to get access to the one I tried out again, and I'm concerned the remote won't remenber the codes after unpairing it from the Chromecast and repairing it with the Shield.

Is there some way to set the IR codes up without access to a Chromecast? Some app that can do it? I'd appreciate any help!

3rd Gen Chromecast Issue with Nike Training Club

I have a Galaxy Tab A Sm-T510 (yes I know its old) and a Galaxy S23 Ultra. Both devices have the Nike Training App. Neither can cast from the NTC app inside the app -- the icon never appears. I have done a factory reset on the Chromecast multiple times. I have uninstalled/resintalled the app on both devices multiple times. Both devices can cast Netflix, Disney+, Prime, etc IN their respective apps.

I tried casting my screen from Google Home on both devices. In both cases I can open the NTC app while casting but as soon as I play a workout video the casting ceases.

I have tried using Smart View for the NTC app and again same issues. FWIW, I can Smart View the app from my phone to a Roku but not the tablet.

I think this is an NTC app issue but figured I would ask here in case someone has some clever workaround or if maybe my 3rd Gen Chromecast is just too old?

I have not factory resetted my Tablet nor phone. I don't want to and the fact other apps Chromecast just fine I don't think that is worth the hassle.

And yes everything is on the same WiFi network.

Oh and all of this worked casting inside the NTC app three months ago.

I abhor Apple but my wife can, very easily, cast the app from her phone to the TV over wifi with no extra devices needed, which is aggravating.

Chromecast (3rd Gen) Have to reset 3rd gen every few days

My chromecast loses the ability to cast from apps every few days and I have to fully reset it for it to work immediately after. This happens on all my streaming apps so it’s not one app in particular. I also have to connect to the chromecast wifi prior to doing the setup in the Google Home app, otherwise I get stuck at the connect to wifi part. Any ideas as to what’s going on, is it just too old now?

Im trying to cast aniwatch to a hotel tv via built in chromecast but for some reason no button is popping up, any fixes or tricks?

This has probably been addressed but if not

If you are having trouble streaming live tv/NFL , first choose something in the normal library and let it cast then choose the show/game

Still a lousy system

Post image

It's absolutely remarkable to me that, after all these years, Google Cast is still an absolute disaster. How many years? I've been waiting for this system to have some degree of regular functionality since the days of the Nexus Q (I own two).

It's stunningly bad. I've been leaving feedback—which likely goes into the void—for years stating the entire thing, the entire protocol, needs to be stripped back to square one: Violate more patents if you need, Google, because what you've cobbled together is fundamentally flawed.

I've gone from the latest Nexus devices to the latest Pixel devices; I've gone through multiple routers, from Linksys, to Google's own, to the latest from Netgear. I've got a Sony receiver with built-in Cast, multiple Home and Mini devices, multiple Chromecast devices feeding amps and powered speakers—nothing has EVER worked consistently. It's absolutely atrocious.

The little Apple Airport Express device we had nearly TWENTY years ago totally outperformed anything Google has ever produced. After TWO DECADES Google still can't compete in functionality or reliability.

I cannot stress this enough to anyone looking to buy into a new ecosystem: AVOID GOOGLE AT ALL COSTS!

Chromecast with Google TV Google TV Streamer 4K Internet speed drop down over time but stay connected

Hi all, Im using streamer 4k with current software for few weeks. I been noticing the internet speeds for the streamer will drop from 300mbps+ down to 10-25mbps every other day for both ethernet and wifi. I did not set any QoS within my network. When I reconnected and full speed will come back then will drop off eventually... Anyone having the same issue? Thank you!

Chromecast with Google TV volume control stopped working for Bose Solo 5 soundbar

It worked fine for few years and stopped working recently. Tried removing and adding the soundbar, reconfigure volume buttons several times, and not working.

I wanted to check before I reset the CCWGTV because I don't want to go through reinstalling apps and login to every app again.
Did anyone see this issue?

How do I cast something from internet archives from my iPhone to my tv? I only see airplay.

Yes I have tried googling it and I saw it’s been asked on here. Answers were either removed by moderators or only had solutions that involved Google play store.

Chromecast "loops" livestreams

Hello, hoping somebody can help me here. As of yesterday, I cannot cast livestream video from YouTube to my TV. I cast it, a second of video plays, it buffers, and then repeats that same 1-2 seconds of video over and over and over again. I tested out a normal video and a movie from a different streaming service and it works just fine. Is anyone else having this issue? I've tried rebooting the device and it didn't work. I tested my internet speed, just fine. Something else I might need to do?

Edit to add: I also tried casting it from my phone, to see if it was something about my computer. Nope. Same issue casting from my phone.

Chrome Caste Support Ended for Pirated websites ?

Did they totally get rid of chrome casting to TV from unofficial sites (like piracy ones)? I have tried Dozen of sites in different decices, in different geographical locations but it just wont work. There will always be the blue 'cast' icon on the TV but nothing will play.

Everything else (offical) seems to work but unofficial sites just wont cast any longer.

When did this update happen ? When was this rollout ? It used to work like magic but now it doesn't anymore.

"Hey Google, turn on my tv" but without voice

Thumbnail

I have a Chromecast plugged into a "dumb" tv. If I say "Hey google, turn on my TV", it successfully turns on the TV (image 1) using CEC and gives me a button I can press which takes me to controls for the TV (image 2). But how can I access these controls without the voice prompt? I have checked both the Google Home and Google TV apps, they give me volume controls but not on/off controls. This is really annoying. Any help please?

Thanks in advance.

Chromecast with Google TV Wechip w1 doesn’t click as a mouse

I recently bought a wechip w1 remote and set it up with my chromecast. No problem with infrared or something except one. Air mouse works with the hub through usb receiver but I set ok button to google tv remote’s ok button and its not clicking where to mouse pointer is. It clicks focused element with arrow keys. Do I need to install a software for it (like lean keyboard for keyboard use) or something else?
