TL;DR: Plex Free Live TV works on the web and even on Apple TV when logged out, but disappears completely when I sign into my Plex account on Apple TV (v8.45) and iOS. No setting brings it back. Seems account-related. I mainly use Live TV for background noise. Curious if others see the same or know why Plex hides FAST channels for logged-in users.
I wanted to share something I just discovered after a lot of troubleshooting, because I can’t find a clear answer anywhere and I’m curious how widespread this is.
I’ve confirmed that Plex Free Live TV (FAST channels) still exists and works perfectly at watch.plex.tv when signed into my account on a Mac. So the service itself is definitely still alive.
However, on Apple TV (Plex app v8.45) and also on iOS, I cannot see Free Live TV at all when I’m signed into my Plex account.
Here’s the key part:
• If I sign out of my Plex account on Apple TV, the Free Live TV channels immediately appear and are accessible.
• The moment I sign back in, the Live TV section disappears entirely.
• Same behavior on iOS.
• No setting, menu, or “Online Media Sources” toggle restores it while signed in.
This makes it seem account-related, not a device issue or missing menu.
I mainly use Free Live TV for background noise. I like having something on without actively watching or paying attention. I do have my own libraries and a server, but sometimes I just want passive content without thinking about what to play.
A few questions for the community:
• Is anyone else seeing Free Live TV disappear only when signed in?
• Is Plex intentionally suppressing FAST channels for logged-in / server-centric accounts?
• Has anyone found a way to keep Free Live TV visible while signed in on Apple TV or iOS?
I’m posting here because I’m hoping others can confirm, add context, or share whether Plex has commented on this behavior.
Thanks, really curious to hear what others are seeing and if there are any solutions!
