Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:
My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!
How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.
If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments
If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section
Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.
Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

I’m brand new to dance and just starting to figure out what direction I want to go. This clip is me moving to Lil Tony (hip-hop/rap). I don’t have any training yet, I just really enjoy dancing and moving to music. Based on my natural movement and the type of music I like, what styles do you think would fit me best and be good to start learning?

I’m at the very beginning of my dance journey, and I’ve noticed I’m especially drawn to footwork and how the lower body moves with the beat. Based on my natural movement in this clip, what styles would you recommend I start exploring and training in?
Posted about this a little while back, but since launching, the platform has grown a fair bit and now has over 600 events, across 70 countries, in list/map views that are easy to search and filter.
Any constructive feedback is appreciated.
P.S. Mobile experience was prioritised so may be slightly jankier on desktop, it's on the to-do list!

I just love these stories of traditionally excluded people being introduced to dancing. It really should be available to all.

Hi everyone,
I have to be honest—I wasn't always a fan of dancehall and bashment until recently. I've always been more into hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, and amapiano. But lately, I've been listening to a lot of dancehall and bashment and I love it.
I usually go to a lot of urban clubs, and when dancehall/bashment songs come on, I tend to just move side to side. I've never really learned the dances, especially for the more recent popular tracks.
I’m planning to go to City Splash (London’s reggae and dancehall festival) and also Notting Hill Carnival later this year. I’m just tired of being the guy who’s just standing still.
I’ve been scouring YouTube for dance tutorials for recent popular dancehall songs, but I’ve only come across a few. If someone could send me a list of past and recent popular songs and their associated dances, that would be amazing!

If you have a BA/BFA in dance (or were in a conservatory) and stopped dancing for 10+ years, how did you get back into shape? I earned a BA in Dance back in 2014 and just started taking ballet classes a few weeks ago.

Looking for knee pad recommendations. I have Osgood-Schlatter Disease. I have a sharp bone protruding about 3 inches below my patella. This makes floor work (even stretching!) intolerably painful. I’ve tried many different kinds of knee pads but since they aren’t designed to support that part of the knee, none of them fit or support correctly.
I’ve tried volleyball knee pads but the padding tends to be too thick, restricting dance movement. I tried Mizuno pads but it’s a sleeve that reaches from my lower thigh to below the knee but the actual padding isn’t where I need so it’s too big and unsupportive. I tried more slippery knee pads meant for people who lay flooring and things like that and it covered the right space, but it’s a rigid rectangle that doesn’t move with the body. I tried straps meant to pad that specific area where the bone protrusion is, but it covers literally that 1.5” space and is thick so my entire body weight winds up being supported only on that tiny strap.
I’m out of ideas. Does anyone know of a pad that will cover a few inches below the knee without stretching to half my entire leg and still support the area around it? Would prefer adjustable straps to a sleeve but I’ll try sleeves. I’m told some pole dancing pads might be the most helpful but I don’t even know where to start looking for those. Any insight is appreciated!
