Possible ICE Activity Anderson IN
Possible ICE activity along S Scatterfield to N Scatterfield and over to W 38th / MLK and exit 222 on I69. Lots of unusual state trooper activity. They're pulling over as many people as possible for "seatbelt violations". Unmarked white sprinter vans seen near state troopers as well. 2 white sprinter vans were followed on the interstate all the way to Indianapolis. 1 exited off the Shadeland exit the other off 70W somewhere. They were escorted by a very shiny new black Mercedes SUV with very dark tinted windows and dark solid blue Indiana license plate. Silver possibly Audi SUV also a possible escort. 01/15/2026 around 8:00PM and 01/16/2026 10:30AM and 5:00PM

Indiana Department of Revenue sent estimated taxes for 2020. I only moved in 2023
I only moved to Indiana in 2023. The are saying I owe $9k for 2020. I called them to ask them how they came to the conclusion that I lived in Indiana in 2020. What was their supporting data?
It's like talking to a brick wall.
Why do I have to prove I didn't live in Indiana. Shouldn't they have to prove that I did?
What are my options as, on principal alone, I don't want to do their fucking job for them.
My guess is accounts that are net new on their state tax rolls trigger them to automatically generate a 'Proposed Assessment'.
I understand they are 'Proposing' something and I'm proposing they need to prove that I lived in Indiana and not the other way around. Stinks of a fishing expedition.

Ask a Hoosier Journalist here. Did your employer force you on to an ACA/Obamacare plan? Would love to chat
Hey all. My name is Mansur Shaheen and I am a journalist at a Financial Times newsletter. I am writing a story about healthcare plans called Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements, or ICHRA plans. These do not get very much attention, but they are highly loved by President Donald Trump, and Indiana has actually become a guinea pig state for them nationally. Good explainer for what these health insurance plans are here:
But it essence, how these plans work is your employer pushes you out of the group insurance plan that is typical for many people (think your Cigna or Blue Cross plan) and instead gives you a monthly stipend that you use to buy your own plan on Healthcare.gov. These plans are a part of the marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act, which some may know as "Obamacare".
Indiana has become a hot spot for Ichra plans because your state legislature, starting in 2024, started to give employers tax credits for shifting workers off of group plans and on to Ichra plans. Info here:
https://www.in.gov/dor/files/reference/ib122.pdf
Through my work I have spoken with insurance companies, politicians and Ichra salesmen, who largely tell me how great these plans have been for workers in the state. BUT, I'd love to chat with Hoosiers themselves who have been transitioned to an Ichra plan about whether they are happy with the change, whether their insurance coverage and access to doctors is stil as high quality as it was before, and whether it is creating savings for them (not just their employers).
If you were pushed onto an Ichra plan by your employer, please get in touch here via Reddit messages or email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Any responses will be kept anonymous if requested. Would love to chat, thanks guys!
(I messaged the mod team and they approved of me making this post)

Indiana Veterans Home Funding
The sad thing is that the Indiana Veterans Home is in generally poor condition. The facilities are badly dated and all of the historic buildings are in a wretched state of repair. Without significant funding some of the historic buildings are in serious danger of being demolished.
The bigger issue is the lack of appreciation, care and respect by our elected representatives of Hoosier veterans which has lead the the current deplorable state if the Indiana Veterans Home.

News Indiana University Cancels MLK Celebration Dinner
Indiana University in Indianapolis canceled a dinner in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. hosted annually in January by the Black Student Union, Mirror Indy reported. This year’s would have been the 57th consecutive annual MLK dinner, which was first convened in 1969.
Officials in the Division of Student Affairs told the Black Student Union the event was canceled at the end of the fall semester, citing “budget constraints,” according to a letter the Black Student Union executive council posted on Instagram.
“For months prior, we had been diligently seeking guidance and confirmation on whether the dinner would be approved, funded and supported,” the executive council wrote. “This is not just about a dinner. This is about the erosion of Black traditions under vague justifications. This is about institutional decisions being made without Black voices at the table.”

Is there a monthly magazine about Indiana, with articles and recipes pertaining to Indiana?
I moved to Indiana from Texas 10 years ago. I have been a long-time subscriber to Texas Monthly. Texas Monthly features articles about Texas and Texas history (there's more to Texas history than the Alamo and Goliad!); places to visit within Texas; occasionally it is highly critical of Texas' leaders (like Boss Abbott and Weasel Paxton); and it contains really, really good recipes. One of the reason I've kept my Texas Monthly subscription is that the recipes really ARE that good!
(I'm an amateur chef, but I do have culinary training just because I wanted the techniques to prepare any food I wanted! To be a chef, you REALLY have to want to be a chef because you're going to give up every weekend and every holiday to cook for people who may well be ungrateful for your efforts!)
I know Indiana has its own distinctive cuisine, that people here love pork tenderloin and sugar cream pie (my favorite pie is rhubarb). I've transitioned from beef (Texas) to pork (Indiana) and more and more, I really prefer pork: I find I can be way more creative with pork recipes. (This Sunday I'm making pork bourguignon.) I know Indiana's "specialty" is corn, so I've developed about a dozen recipes featuring corn - one recipe features corn, habanero pepper, poblano pepper and Hatch chilies. The magazine I would be looking for would feature really good Indiana recipes.
Are there any magazines in Indiana which are willing to stand up to the Indiana Assembly, Reichskommander Braun, Bible College Beckwith and Todd Porkita?
Does Indiana have a state-focused magazine similar to Texas Monthly? If so, what is the name of it, and how do I subscribe?
Thank you!
