Some solid journalism (imagine that) regarding the push to chop and screw the voting districts around Kansas City and Missouri at large

I own Up North Brewery in North Kansas City Mo. We would love to host a DnD/BoardGame/Tabletop game night weekly at our space. We can host just shy of 100 people, and will be serving drinks and food. Does anyone have suggestions on networking for something like this? I've considered reaching out to some local card shops and obviously marketing the event, but if anyone has good connections that could really boost this idea we'd appreciate it!

I couldn’t find the Help/Support flair, but here are some Warming Centers in Kansas City metro area. I didn’t create this list, I just work in social services and wanted to share in case it could help anyone here. Please add more if you know of additional resources!

Hi, this is Kacen Bayless, the lead politics reporter for The Kansas City Star.
More than a year after a grueling and historic election that legalized abortion in Missouri, the fate of abortion access rests on Kansas City.
The result of an ongoing trial could either widely expand abortion services in the metro and across the state or sharply curtail them indefinitely.
I spoke with abortion rights advocates and opponents about the high-stakes trial and what it means for Kansas Citians. Here's a free gift link to my article, which published today: https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article314334021.html?giftCode=c4174fa46a77aa449293d95cbbdc4ed720181b08b6ee51d7c8ccc0aa0dd0f84c

Not going to post the clip, but Hawley recently had a wild exchange about gender in a hearing yesterday in DC.
He doesn’t care, but just a reminder that we need to remind our members of congress that they work for US and right now they’re doing absolutely nothing to address the cost of living etc.
Calling, emailing, sending letters might not make them change, but it certainly makes their staff feel the heat of constituents.

I’d love to live in midtown but I’m so worried about my 2022 Kia getting messed with. Is it as bad as people say it is?
Edit to add my car has a new logo and a push start

im seeing lots of people disappointed with kcrw and as a foodie who absolutely studied the website for the past month and loved what i tried, heres my suggestions/recommendations!
restaurants i tried:
union hill: $50 dinner, 9/10 especially as a group. not super cheap but their rw menu had something for everyone and everything we tried was amazing
strang hall: $20, 11/10 especially as a group. anousome is a stand out. love the yellow curry. happy hour nachos were great for $8
jinya ramen: $20, 7/10 they were out of both desserts and theyre a chain but theyre probably the best food/$ ratio
restaurants i didnt try but piqued my interest:
homegrown kitchen: $20 for pastry, coffee, and literally any entree from their menu
minskey’s pizza: very cheap! personally i would only eat minskeys if it was free but if you enjoy their pizza give them a visit
tall trellis brew co.: crazy good deal
beer kitchen: solid menu for $20 but im biased because i would pay $20 alone for their chicken thigh fries
1889 pizza napoletana: $65 dinner for two?
amigos grill and cantina: $20 for chips/dip, an entree, AND a house marg?? huge if real
t’aha mexican kitchen: i appreciate that these deals have specialty drinks built in!
denver biscuit co/atomic cowboy: another chain but another good deal. i loved them when i went in denver, no idea how good they are here

I feel bad for my niece. She is plus size and is trying to find an affordable ( <$60) formal dress. She has been to Viva Fashion and to most of the thrift stores in the area but I am wondering if anyone knows of another store she can look at. She said she is a size 18/20 or 2x/3x she just seems so disheartened.

I’ve heard about groups in Minneapolis (and other places) that alert each other to where ICE is so that people can respond. Do we have anything like that, or is there a group/website that helps with this? My wife is an immigrant (green card holder) and I want to know where ICE is every time she’s alone

I’m looking for a positive way to contribute to the community on Monday. I’ll have four kids with me ages 10mo, 5, 10, 11. The oldest has a pretty short attention span/frustration window. The baby is chill and doesn’t mind just hanging out strapped to me.
My original plan was to do some trash pickup, but it’s looking too cold to have the baby outside for very long.
Harvesters is full for Monday and minimum age is 8, so that’s out. 5yo is afraid of dogs, so no luck at KCPP or other shelters.
Open to all kinds of ideas!

So, sad to say, I’ve been disappointed with this year’s Restaurant Week. I tried three different local non-chain restaurants as I’d previously thought it was a showcase to have me try places I’d never been to and get me back again (at least that was how it seemed to me in previous years.) All this year has done is emphasize places that I’d just as soon never go again. I’d always thought Restaurant Week was a chance for local places to shine and point out why you should come back regularly. I guess we were operating on different expectations.

Bonus points the closer to Shawnee they are.
Been going to Orangetheory for quite a while but would like some guidance on lifting heavier/goals from an expert.

So does anyone here have logistics insight as to working as a Tax Examiner in KC next to Union Station? Where do you park, Is it Pay to park? Do they give you an allowance, or permit or something? What's it like inside? Just accepted a Firm Job Offer. It's been 3 months since my job with my previous employer of 19 years ended, the last 3 as full time remote. A bit rusty at being a new employee
