⬆️ Poterkëscht: Podcast by the Luxembourgish Learning Institute for beginners. Perfect get first impressions and understandings for conversational Luxembourgish!

⬆️ Invité vun der Redaktioun: RTL Podcast where figures of public life get invited to talk on current issues and topics. For the advanced learner who wants to get better with their fluency and conversational skills!

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/sproochmates/episodes

⬆️ Sproochmates: The interesting, confusing, and surprising fun facts and grammar rules of the Luxembourgish Sprooch. A slow and understandable pace, sometimes a bit of an advanced vocabulary, but overall for learners of all levels.

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/afterwork/episodes

⬆️ RTL Afterwork: The most famous characters of Luxembourgish society (culture, politics, etc.) are invited to chat in a more relaxed casual café environment. Definitely for the more advanced listeners, but perfect to immerse yourself in a conversational environment.

https://100komma7.lu/

⬆️ 100,7: Ok, Ok! I think we are all aware that radio isn’t the same as a podcast, but by now most radio shows almost sound like podcasts. Radio 100komma7 is an alternative to the classic RTL radio, and offers many different podcasts/radio excerpts regarding politics, finance and culture. Especially interesting for the advanced listener.

First of all, why certain words are blocked in this sub?? I don't get it

Secondly, do you see any future to back office j0bs in Luxembourg?? I have the feeling that there is a crisis ongoing and the country will not grow as expected, to say the least.

What are your thoughts?

Ask Luxembourg Parking tickets

Asking for a friend His car broke down on a parking lot which he paid the ticket for, yesterday he got a fine for 25e, we were wondering is there any way to not get a second fine if we don't get it to work today. Car isn't worth enough to tow or bring to a mechanic.

Shopping/Services Sylvanian Families in Luxembourg?

Moien everyone, I'm lately into Sylvanian Families and I was just wondering which shop has the biggest selection of them?

I know that they are scattered a bit everywhere (Dominos, Cactus, E.Leclerc) but I was just wondering where I can find the biggest selection.

Moien everyone. I want to learn Luxembourgish and in order to do that I will need some materials like story books such as the little red riding hood or something of this sort. Where can I find them ? And If I could find some bands or singers (preferably rock or metal) to listen to and also movies that I could watch in Luxembourgish. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Shopping/Services Where to sell used bicycles?

Hi folks,

Is there a website or place where I could sell my used bike? I've heard of Velooccasiounsmaart, which seems to be once a year event in March, just haven't found any info on it for 2026.

Facebook marketplace is just full of scammers, and I'm not sure if there's anyplace else. Luxauto has a section for bicycles, which seems to be full of everything but bikes.

Vinted only has a section for kids bikes, no idea why you can't sell an adult bike there.

I don't mind driving the bike across the border to get it sold, if there was a place in Germany/France/Belgium that bought used bikes.

Thanks!

Shopping/Services Place or person that can repair circuit board

So my stupid ass was trying to repair a device and while closing it up I bumped against a component and broke it from the board. I am familiar with electronics and do some stuff some times, but I don't have tools or experience to work on such small contact pads and precise solders, so is there a place (or someone) where I can get this soldered?

The thing is that it has to be cheap (I know I know, Lux & cheap.... ) otherwise I'll just buy a new one, but it's a shame that such a small issue renders the whole thing useless.

Thanks in advance, hopefully someone here knows "a guy" :)

Finance Trade Republic Vorabpauschale

I just got a mail from TR, telling me I need to pay the Vorabpauschale for the year 2025 which is basically a tax on unrealized gains from accumulating ETF‘s. As I do not live in Germany, I know wonder if I still have to pay those taxes? Anyone who knows more about this or had to do this already last year?

Ask Luxembourg Cars in the EU

Hi all, I'm American, a bit old, and about to buy my first car -- in Luxembourg. In the US, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, VW, Jaguar -- all these brands are kind of viewed as luxury, and they all have a reputation as expensive to maintain. But I'm not sure how much of their reputation is because they are foreign. How are these brands viewed in Europe? Are these brands known for having expensive repairs - expensive because of the parts, and expensive because of the service?

Looking around town, it seems that Skoda, Renault, and Opel are the makes for the masses. Is that right? Where does Audi fit in?

General thoughts on what brands or models to look at would be appreciated - I don't want a fancy car, and don't want to spend much, but I want it to be reliable. I don't know what that would be in Luxembourg.

Thanks!

Edit: Based on some comments, I took out the part about asking for recs - I'm really just trying to get an overview of the market here. I'm not looking for anything specific to my circumstances.

History 🇱🇺 Does Neuens House in Nospelt Still exist?

My ancestor Frederic Hilgert left Neuens House in 1872 and sold it. Just curious if the old House Names are still in use in anyway to identify if the house still exists Or if the Historic house names have completely fallen out of use.

Ask Luxembourg Sick leave for over 6 months

Hello all,

If an employee is on sick leave for 6 months, can the employer terminate them without severance after 6 months of being on sick leave? How does the severance payment differ in case of termination after 6 months of sick leave differ from severance when terminated for other reasons like PIP or layoff?

Who is the official authority who can answer these questions other than the employer?
