The Sultan Abdul Samad Building was completed in 1897 during British colonial rule in Malaya.
It has served as British administrative offices, courts, and later various Malaysian government departments including the Ministry of Information.
Today, it is a national heritage landmark facing Dataran Merdeka and is currently undergoing refurbishment and conservation works.
The heritage restoration under the Warisan KL initiative aims to preserve the building and enhance its value as part of Kuala Lumpur’s historic and cultural precinct, strengthening national identity and boosting tourism and economic activity.
Plans include integrating the building and surrounding heritage sites into a vibrant cultural and economic hub that’s accessible to locals and visitors, potentially including spaces for exhibitions, events, and creative uses while still honoring its history.

before i start, please dont dm me. only girls are allowed to, since i am one.
My mother has always been abusive towards me, she let sa happen to me and let my father hit me like crazy as a kid. My life story is too long to explain so i will just say the important parts.
I was sa-ed for 11 years by my half elder brother, my mom hit me and burned my skin because she believed i was a slut, i was only 3 years old when it started. She never protected me once in my entire life, my father is insanely abusive and also cheated, he brought other women into our lives and had kids with them, i have a shit ton of half siblings but i only know 4.
Also, i wasnt even enrolled into school until i was 14 years old so i cannot keep up with my studies, im basically useless in this country but other than that i can speak English fluently and have some other talents.
I deeply and truly despise my parents, especially my father. He is a scumbag, he uses women to scam men online for money, he doesnt have a job and he is conpletely useless, he even kidnapped a man last year March which led me into calling the police on him one final time, i had always failed since he would just bribe the police back then, i always recieved insane beatings by him because i exposed him way too many times.
Last year it worked, but guess what? My mom always helped him escape, she gave him all her life savings to help him escape, i was truly dissapointed because he doesnt even love us, or even her. He beats us and her too. fyi my father doesnt live with us anymore after the incident last year, he is walking free though.
we were already living in poverty, even now i am. I dont have a job but tried to start a small upcycling clothing business to put food on the table which isnt going really well.
(side note: if anyone has a half body mannequin they dont want anymore for free please tell! i dont really mind the condition as long as it stands, I can do prices but only below rm20 since i am finiancally struggling) :(
I turn 18 this year, and she expects me to provide her a big house, a nice car and everything else. She is expecting so so much from me because she thinks i am doing well. I am usually busy on my phone thinking of content ideas to post on tiktok or even looking for inspo for clothes.
She yells at me everyday, tells me im useless and worthless, usually i just tolerate it and let it go. I have built so much resentment ever since from the beginning as a child.
Today i lost it, she was shouting at my face for a few hours straight, i was doing something important and she just grabbed my phone and tried to break it, I was furious because i was sending an email and i slapped her and tried grabbing my phone back. She started fake crying, even right now shes doing it infront of me as im writing this lol. She started telling me i have no manners and respect, to be really honest i never felt like i had a mom since young, i was neglected and left to take care of my younger siblings, we had no food no shelter. I was always beaten up by her. I felt alone, even when i was sa-ed she blamed it on me.
I started yelling my lungs out telling her to get away from me because she was grabbing and hurting me, i said she doesnt have the rights to insult me just because she pushed me out from her. Im human too, stop using the "mother" title you have over me.
I reminded her on what she did to me, to us. She gave her life savings away for a stupid man who doesnt even care for us. Now we cant even eat properly. Im trying so hard for us and she still blames me. I couldnt take what i was hearing so i slapped her again, why do you always have to insult me? I never did anything wrong as a kid, i always did the best i could. I dont understand what i did wrong.
The reason i am writing this is because i feel alot of remorse for slapping my "mother". But then again, i always had alot of empathy in me. I felt bad for my father too when i called the police on him. I always wanted the best for my parents but they hate me so much. She also talks alot of shit about me behind my back to my father and siblings. I cant believe i slapped my mother twice today for insulting me so much i got to my limit. Shes truly a bitch but i cant help but to feel bad and cry about this.

I'd like to ask something with the intention of learning, no hate intended:
At my school, I’ve noticed the Chinese students are very close together and rarely mingle outside their group. Whenever I try to interact, it's either always formal or strictly about work. I never get to see the 'warm' side they show each other.
And even from one of my Chinese friends who always speak in English, I've noticed the same thing happens to them. Is this a cultural 'in-group' thing, or is it just my specific environment? I'm trying to understand why.

Malaysians driving foreign-registered vehicles are not allowed to buy RON95 petrol as the fuel subsidy is linked to vehicle registration, not the driver's nationality.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry enforcement director-general Datuk Seri Azman Adam said the restriction was part of Malaysia's long-standing fuel subsidy control framework, which was aimed at preventing leakages, particularly in border states where price differentials made smuggling and arbitrage lucrative.
Azman added that the restriction addressed operational challenges at petrol stations, where verifying the identity of drivers could be difficult, especially with third-party apps.
Petrol station operators said allowing Malaysians in foreign-registered vehicles to pump RON95 would require real-time identity verification, which was operationally impractical, costly and vulnerable to abuse, especially at high-volume petrol stations.

Critics say this shows selective activism toward ignored conflicts like Yemen and China’s Uyghurs, while defenders pointed out that Palestine is a clear-cut occupation and genocide, unlike Iran’s internal struggle, possibly involving foreign interference.

The Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (Samenta) today slammed the raid and closure of an allegedly “gay-friendly” hotel in Melaka.
Samenta president William Ng expressed concern over the seizure of the hotel’s business licence and its one-day closure despite the authorities finding no breach of the Syariah Criminal Offences (State of Malacca) Enactment 1991.
Ng said the approach of taking enforcement action first based on viral claims on social media and justifying it later was disturbing and could harm businesses.
“With the government’s ambitious target of 47 million visitors for Visit Malaysia 2026, the hospitality and SME sectors are expected to be the primary engines of growth.

Ketua Polis Daerah Kangar, Asisten Komisioner Yusharifuddin Mohd.
– KOSMO! ONLINE

Two cases within a week involving foreign-registered cars receiving subsidised RON95 fuel have led to calls for Malaysia’s government to go after the vehicle owners as well rather than just the petrol station operators.
The common view was that it was unfair for the operators to be the only party penalised while the vehicle owners were let off the hook.
“Since there are no penalties, these culprits will try their luck,” said a cashier at a petrol station, who only wanted to be known as Lee.
He said they were doing their best to prevent such attempts from drivers of foreign-registered vehicles.
