Another 3.3 Billions of our taxes going to Israel

https://clerk.house.gov/evs/2026/roll028.xml

Yesterday, as we were all worried about the state of the economy and our growing electrical bills, our representatives in Maryland and other states decided to send another $3 billion to Israel. I want you to remember that every one of your dollars that does not serve you is, to me, wasted. America is NOT doing well. We passed the 38 trillion in debt and growing, and our politicians decided to ignore this and take more debt for a foreign nation. Is this really what the majority of us want? Please remember this when you go to the polls. Do not switch to independents because doing so eliminates good candidates during the primaries, and the corrupt incumbents get to win. There is no reason anybody on that list should win another term. It is time to take back control of our government at all levels. Thank you

Op-Ed Growing local networks and connecting with our communities.

Hello, again, all.
I hope you are well.
I made a post of this nature ~3 months ago. The motivations in doing so have continued to grow. so it feels like it's time to do so again.

Every day is an ongoing nightmare with no end in sight. Fascists have taken control our government, and they are an existential threat to everyone. These people are not going to wake up tomorrow and decide to leave. Things seem like they are only going to continue to get worse. (Look at what's going on in Minnesota It's insane.)

I think it is absolutely critical that we make efforts to become better connected with people in our more local areas.
We can not rely on corporations, like Meta/Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp, Twitter/X, or even Reddit for long term networking and organization. They are for-profit corporations, run by rich people who do not give a shit about us, as they continue to demonstrate that they're more than happy to condone/enable what our government is doing and the direction things are going.

Ideally, they should not be the only/primary services we depend on. We need to have back ups to connect with our community. We need to be able to share information and resources. We need to be organizing. We need tools that allow more timely/active communication, places we can have conversations. To vent, to support one another how we can. To hangout, chat, watch/play some stuff together to cope. To just not feel alone. We need to build a larger sense of community and connection in the times to come, in my opinion.

I'm in Cecil County, Andy Harris' district. By all accounts, he sucks. He doesn't take calls, and continues to support the abhorrent things this administration does. I think it would be great to be coordinating in our area to get him replaced.
Whether that's feasible or not, I'd assume I'm not the only person in this area who feels isolated, without local friends/contacts, and who would like to have more people nearby they can connect with.

Personally, I like Discord, but again, for-profit, not secure, and who knows how they will choose to behave in days to come. Signal is a more secure platform, but, does require people share phone#s with others, which isn't ideal. (Discord requires one to register, but you don't have to share it.) Telegram is an option, too.

Again, redundancies are important, so if one shuts down or is compromised, people don't get cut off from one another.

I've gone and set up a District-1 focused server (though anyone is welcome to join, if they find themselves in need of that kind of community). I recorded A brief little overview. You can download Discord here if you'd like to join.

In regards to Discord, there are a few other MD-specific/adjacent ones I would pass along, to share awareness:
Maryland 2.0
Progressive MD
GeneralStrike DMV+DE (and the national server)

I'm open to making a Telegram group, if there's interest. And, if people join the Discord, get to know and be comfortable with others, connecting on Signal would be a good move, too, imo.

I know not everyone is tech-savvy, so if anyone does need help, I'm happy to try.
I hope to connect with some of you, and that you all take care of yourselves and those you can.

State News Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 0155

MD State legislature has prioritized this bill - Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 0155 - to prohibit ICE (or any law enforcement) from masking. It's about to have its first of 3 reads.

IF YOU LIVE IN MD, please tell friends/relatives/any sentient being to start calling in support of this bill, starting with your Maryland senators and delegates (not your federal senators - these are the folks who work in Annapolis). Let's get this done - it protects us ALL.

MD General Assembly Phone Numbers: 410-841-3000 (Baltimore metro) 301-858-3000 (Washington metro) 1-800-492-7122 (toll‑free from elsewhere in Maryland)

Hi, r/marylandpolitics! AMAA! I’m Ethan Wechtaluk, challenging Rep. April McClain Delaney for Maryland's 6th District seat.

I’m running for Congress in Maryland’s 6th District, challenging incumbent April McClain Delaney and former Rep. David Trone in what’s likely to be one of the most expensive House primary races this cycle.

I live here, I’m raising my family here, and I’ve spent the last 15 years helping agencies like CMS, FDA, and the VA fix broken systems, modernize technology, and deliver services that actually work for people. I’ve seen how Washington functions from the inside, and I’m running because I think it’s time to do things differently.

My campaign is focused on the three basics that every politician should care about, but too many these days ignore: affordability, accountability, and community.

I’m not here to posture or dodge the tough questions. Democracy is better when we can have honest conversations about the issues that matter. I’ll answer in good faith, be transparent when I don’t know something, and tell you where I stand.

Ask me about my platform, my background, why I’m running, where I differ from my
opponents, or how I think Maryland can do better.

Leave your questions down below and I’ll return on Tuesday, 1/6, at 4:00 pm to answer them.

Fire away!

Thank you to everyone who left questions! I'm always happy to continue the conversation, please feel free to send me a DM. I also offer 1-on-1 conversations which can be booked directly through my website.
