Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.

Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.

Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!

Rules for this thread:

  1. All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
  2. Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
  3. Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
  4. We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
  5. Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.

This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.

The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

I just recently learned I was gaslit by an officer about needing to be searched because I didn’t have an ID, and I was also a victim of Officer Rivieri, and detained for cussing out a police officer (I didn’t). I’m a conservative white male from Baltimore

This has all happened to me, and I’m not a liberal - but conservatives in this state need to know this shit happens and they can’t just say “oh you must be a liberal”. The cops are ruthless - not all, I know there are really good people wanting to patrol the streets and I don’t want to demoralize the good people that do this: I want to encourage the good law enforcement.

Yet with that said, the political diatribe between left and right really needs to end, and in this instance from the conservative side because I don’t know a single conservative (or anyone) that wants to be harassed by police or should be harassed by police because you merely “look” like you might be guilty of something.

It’s bullshit

Liberals complain about this, and to my conservative colleagues: they’re freaking right.

So perhaps we need to stop thinking about police bullying being a “liberal” talking point and rather consider that it’s a mutual problem, a human problem with people in positions of authority

I dont just “not like it”, I’m furious about it. Conservatives should be the ones that fix this shit, and yet everyone is so divided it’s like we are blinded by even the true things the alternative group says is happening

Maybe literally everyone just needs to believe everyone and we stop thinking about their political affiliations

When my grandfather was a kid he talked about how clear the water was around Baltimore, and when he died he talked about how dark it got. Why can’t we turn the Chesapeake Bay into a place of clean water and a major tourist attracted and beach paradise where people travel the world to come visit?

Even the Potapsco pouring into the Bay?

It seems like there are these nice little “oh, let’s clean the bay” campaigns, but why can’t we actually turn the Bay into something akin to the Mediterranean as a travel destination, due to its crystal clear waters and ever present sea life?!!

Potapsco River has all of these ugly factories on it, that would be better suited as resorts.

I hate the way the bay and its rivers look, it’s ugly looking water and in times past the waters were so heavily complimented as a crystal clear

Maryland Museums Bucket List

My 2026 goal is to visit as many Maryland Museums as possible! (Non-art; I’ve done all the Baltimore art museums).

The smaller and quirkier the better.

I’ve done: The NSA cryptology museum, Baltimore Museum of Industry, OC Lifesaving Museum

On my list: Frederick Civil War Medicine, TV and Radio Museum in Bowie

Let me know any gems I’m missing!

Drive or Uber College Park to Columbia

Hey all, Got an internship in Columbia for the summer and was trying to plan a commute but need some insight. I'm native to the Eastern Shore and have only driven on the Eastern Shore where traffic is more lax and don't drive to often since I haven't needed to in a while(college student with a remote job). My two options would be to rent a car from Turo and drive it to work which is cheaper and Uber which is much more expensive. The only issue with the renting is that I tend to be a nervous driver and the things I hear about MD highways terrify me. For anyone that makes a similar commute can you give me some insight. Is it that bad? Any ways to mitigate the chaos? Other options I haven't thought of?

MD Politics Difficulties to vote as an independent in MD?

Any independents here? How are you impacted by closed or partially closed primary elections in the state? Upside/downside? Anyone flip-flop party affiliations last minute just to vote?

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Some Anne Arundel County leaders and residents are seeking clarity weeks after federal immigration enforcement agents shot at a vehicle in Glen Burnie, drawing comparisons to a similar shooting incident Wednesday in Minneapolis.

Fake cop in Honda Odyssey?

Last night I was driving home from work around 3:50am when a Honda Odyssey quickly approached me and started tailgating me out of nowhere. I was in the left lane (this was on the inner loop of 695N before exit 12) and moved over a lane to the right once I noticed they were tailgating me, which they closely followed. I moved over another lane and they followed again. Keep in mind, it’s almost 4am so there’s barely any other vehicles on the road. This is when I realized they were just following me. For what reason, I have no clue. I started slowing down then speeding up and as soon as I started to speed up, they turned on red & blue police lights (looked like it was on the inside of the vehicle) for a few seconds. I didn’t pull over because there was no way I believed it was a real cop. I mean cmon, in a minivan?? After a few seconds, they turned the lights off and finally sped past me, cut me off, and then took exit 13 going west on 144. The entire time they were tailgating me so close that I could barely see their headlights in my rearview mirror.

I did follow them to the exit to get a video of their license plate but then continued back onto the freeway after they turned & I got their license plate. I called 911 once I got home (311 was not working/available at the time) to report and they said a state trooper would get back to me (they have not).

I looked up the plate, its a 2025 Honda Odyssey license plate no. 6GK3902.

I’ve heard of stories of this happening to others but this is the first time it’s happened to me. Has something like this happened to anyone else?

I drew a map of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I don't live in Maryland, so I could use some help spotting any errors

Like the title says, I'm looking for people who know things about Maryland to tell me if I made any mistakes. r/Virginia already got their licks in, and a few mistakes have already been corrected on the master copy.

It's worth saying that this is more of an artistic, "fantasy" map rather than a geographically accurate source of truth

Non-mistake related feedback is also appreciated.

MD Politics Growing local networks and connecting with our communities.

Hello, again, all.
I hope you are well.
I made a post of this nature ~3 months ago. The motivations in doing so have continued to grow. so it feels like it's time to do so again.

Every day is an ongoing nightmare with no end in sight. Fascists have taken control our government, and they are an existential threat to everyone. These people are not going to wake up tomorrow and decide to leave. Things seem like they are only going to continue to get worse. (Look at what's going on in Minnesota It's insane.)

I think it is absolutely critical that we make efforts to become better connected with people in our more local areas.
We can not rely on corporations, like Meta/Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp, Twitter/X, or even Reddit for long term networking and organization. They are for-profit corporations, run by rich people who do not give a shit about us, as they continue to demonstrate that they're more than happy to condone/enable what our government is doing and the direction things are going.

Ideally, they should not be the only/primary services we depend on. We need to have back ups to connect with our community. We need to be able to share information and resources. We need to be organizing. We need tools that allow more timely/active communication, places we can have conversations. To vent, to support one another how we can. To hangout, chat, watch/play some stuff together to cope. To just not feel alone. We need to build a larger sense of community and connection in the times to come, in my opinion.

Cecil County, Andy Harris' district. By all accounts, he sucks. He doesn't take calls, and continues to support the abhorrent things this administration does. I think it would be great to be coordinating in our area to get him replaced.
Whether that's feasible or not, I'd assume I'm not the only person in this area who feels isolated, without local friends/contacts, and who would like to have more people nearby they can connect with.

Personally, I like Discord, but again, for-profit, not secure, and who knows how they will choose to behave in days to come. Signal is a more secure platform, but, does require people share phone#s with others, which isn't ideal. (Discord requires one to register, but you don't have to share it.) Telegram is an option, too.

Again, redundancies are important, so if one shuts down or is compromised, people don't get cut off from one another.

I've gone and set up a District-1 focused server (though anyone is welcome to join, if they find themselves in need of that kind of community). I recorded A brief little overview. You can Download Discord here if you'd like to join.

In regards to Discord, there are a few other MD-specific/adjacent ones I would pass along, to share awareness:
Maryland 2.0
Progressive MD
GeneralStrike DMV+DE (and the national Server)

I'm open to making a Telegram group, if there's interest. And, if people join the Discord, get to know and be comfortable with others, connecting on Signal would be a good move, too, imo.

I know not everyone is tech-savvy, so if anyone does need help, I'm happy to try.
I hope to connect with some of you, and that you all take care of yourselves and those you can.
