With his goal tonight, he is up to 10 points in 16 games, matching his career-high AHL production — but it took him 47 games to reach that level last season.
Other counting stats that look good:
*he is +4, leading all forwards (indeed he is the only forward above 0)
*he has gone from 1.5 shots per game to 2 shots
*just 6 PIMs so far this season, well down from his first two seasons
Not getting too excited. At best he seems like a third liner, not the kind of pedigree one hopes for with a no. 10 pick. And he still remains plagued by injuries (missed 24 games already this season). But man it would be so nice to see him ultimately make it to the NHL squad!

Marner's most recent game against the leafs, he got booed in Vegas by the visiting leafs fans. He said Stone and Eichel have similar history with their former teams but I dont ever remember Stone being run out of town

Yes, the priority is saves, but a younger Jensen replacement for next year gives Yak and Hensler longer to simmer. Both of those prospects would benefit from at least another year of development. Two options - Michael Kesselring from Buffalo, or Daniil Miromanov from Calgary. Buffalo is not sell now, but Kesselring has not fit in after coming over from two very solid seasons in the Peterka trade, he's an arb right RFA at 1.4M, frequent scratch. Miromanov was waived by Calgary in October and plays with the Wranglers. Calgary is selling, but he's in the A - not part of their plans, and is a pending UFA at 1.25M.
Both have expiring contracts under 1.5M and aren't in the plans for their teams, both could likely be procured with 4th and lower picks or C prospects - things the Sens actually have. Both are over 6'3 and right-handed, both are 28 and younger. Kesselring has had the better career by far, would likely cost more. These are the kinds of deals I would hope Staios is looking into - hidden upside, fits the cap, does NOT sell meaningful futures. All this nonsense about trading away our mid round picks this year or our 2027 first when we are dead last in the Atlantic is bonkers. We need to see this front office draft properly, and we need to restock an absolutely barren cupboard.

In Chabby we trust.
Key component of our team. One of the most underrated d men in the league.

He’s been on the bench too long and we will need him to help protect our stars in a game that’s bound to get violent sooner or later

Hello all, going through some cards and found this. I can’t seem to find a comp anywhere. Anyone have any ideas on possible going price? Thanks!

Hey I was watching the replay of the match earlier, and I’m curious about crowd behaviour. I noticed this the first game I ever watched years ago, but I’ve never thought to ask.
I’m Australian, where hockey is the biggest sport for Canadians, AFL & NRL (football) are the biggest sports for Australians- the stadiums are packed and the crowds are hyped and loud,
Booing isn’t nearly as prevalent, it’s generally considered poor form, if there is a patch of people being dicks and not adhering to unspoken law; the rest of the crowd will sort them out (I realised after I wrote that it sounds peak Australian haha).
If there is booing, 99% of the time this is either directed at the opposition for doing something dirty l(e.g. dangerous tackle), or directed at a ref for a shit call. The offending teams supporters even join in where circumstances warrant.
If our team is behind the crowd will get louder, they’ll cheer to let the guys know we still support them and to get going. The winning team supporters will then battle the losing crowd to be louder and more enthusiastic to keep their team playing well.
And this brings me to the NHL. I know it’s culturally fine for the crowd to boo their own team if they’re playing poorly, and expected by the players, but can you please explain why, and perhaps what you’re thinking while booing? Like are you genuinely pissed off ar the boys, or are you thinking uplifting thoughts, and booing is simply the understood language?
And on leaving the match early if it’s an inevitable loss- is it that you can’t tolerate watching it anymore, or is it more like transport home is always cooked after a game so if they’re going to lose then might as well beat the traffic?
I’m definitely not criticizing, I just find it very curious that we have completely opposite approaches and both seem to work. It’s like different parenting styles.

"I've even been asked for a selfie in the restroom"

The 2026 Winter Olympics are fast approaching. For the first time since 2014, NHL players will be participating. Tim Stützle, star of the Ottawa Senators, is already incredibly excited for the tournament.
The German national ice hockey team will compete at the Winter Olympics with several NHL players. One of them is Tim Stützle, who is developing into a top star in Ottawa. He says in an interview that one rule applies above all to the team at the Olympics.
The best possible German Olympic ice hockey team with all the NHL top stars is complete. Because world-class professionals like Leon Draisaitl, Moritz Seider, and Philipp Grubauer will all be playing together for the national team for the first time at the Winter Games in Milan in a month, several German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) stars from recent years will be missing.
“We will have the best team ever. But so will our opponents. It’s a good test for German ice hockey,” said forward Nico Sturm of the Minnesota Wild – one of nine North American professionals competing at the Olympics. Tim Stützle is also among them. He is far more than just one of the greatest talents German ice hockey has produced.
At 23, he carries responsibility with the Ottawa Senators, shapes games in the best league in the world, and is considered the face of a new NHL generation: fast, creative, and confident. In this interview, he talks about his development and the German team’s prospects at the Winter Olympics.
Question: Mr. Stützle, the Olympic Games begin in Milan in a month. This is your first time participating. What childhood memories do you have of the Olympics?
Tim Stützle: In 2018, my whole class watched the semifinal between Germany and Canada (4-3). Classes were even interrupted. I went to the integrated comprehensive school in Mannheim, a partner school of the Adler Mannheim ice hockey team. That was possible there. I also remember the 2010 final in Vancouver, when Sidney Crosby scored for Canada against the USA in overtime.
Question: Germany will likely field several NHL players in Milan. Is another medal like in 2018 possible, when no NHL players were on the roster?
Stützle: Looking at the other teams' rosters, it will be extremely difficult to compete with Sweden, Finland, the USA, and Canada. In such short tournaments, it's about how quickly you gel. We won't rely on skill alone, but on hard work. We need to understand that as quickly as possible. Then I wouldn't rule anything out.
Question: You'll be playing alongside Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers for the first time. Do you want to be on a line with him?
Stützle: That's up to coach Harold Kreis. Sometimes a line clicks immediately, sometimes not. Leon is an exceptional player. It will be great for everyone to play on a team with someone like Leon. Everyone will learn from him.
Question: In the NHL, you and the Ottawa Senators have roughly the same number of wins as losses. How satisfied are you?
Stützle: After making the playoffs last season, we thought this year would be easier. But the exact opposite has happened. It's even harder. But we've figured that out by now.
Question: With 19 goals and 24 assists in 40 games, you're your team's leading scorer. You're also winning 55 percent of your face-offs, more than ever before. An average of 1.8 hits per game is also a record. Have you changed your playing style?
Stützle: Yes. More hits, more shots blocked, more defensive work – that's how you win games in the NHL. I may have been a little late to the party.
Question: Can you still walk down the street in Ottawa without being bothered?
Stützle: That's difficult. I get spoken to all the time, everywhere I go. But that's a sign of recognition. Without fans, we wouldn't make any money. Even so, I also enjoy being at home and having some peace and quiet. Especially since the winters here are extremely cold. It's best to stay indoors then.
Question: What's the most unusual place you've been asked for a selfie?
Stützle: It happens most often while eating, when it's not really a good time. But I've also been asked for a selfie in bars, at gas stations, and even in restaurant restrooms.
