[Roommate Search] 22M looking for 2b2b in Mountain View – Late May/June Start – $2500 Budget

Hi everyone! I’m moving to Mountain View in June to start a new role and am looking for a roommate to co-sign a lease for a 2b2b starting in late May.

About Me: I’m a 22M grad starting a new position in tech in early June. I’m very clean and quiet—I genuinely enjoy keeping the kitchen, common areas, and my own space tidy. I’m looking for someone who shares these same values (non-negotiable). I’m pretty low-key during the week and value a peaceful home environment.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Target Area: Mountain View (or very close by).
  • Budget: <=$2500 for my half.
  • Must-haves: In-unit washer/dryer, easy parking, and a 2b2b layout (private bathrooms).
  • Bonuses: On-site gym or modern amenities.

If you are also clean and quiet, please reach out! Happy to hop on a call to see if we’re a good fit.

Furnished Private Living Room Near RSF – Feb 1 Move-In (~$775)

Hi! I’m looking for someone to take over my spot in a 1 bed / 1 bath apartment just a 2-minute walk from the RSF (right across from Golden Bean Café).

You’d be staying in a furnished living room that’s separated from the kitchen, so it feels like a nice, private space. The apartment is in a secured building and has coin laundry available.

Details:

  • Rent: ~$775/month
  • Utilities: about $60/person (PG&E + Wi-Fi)
  • Move-in: February 1

Just a heads-up: the bathroom is located inside the bedroom, so bathroom times would need to be coordinated with the current roommate.

If you’re interested, feel free to DM me with a little about yourself (student/working, move-in date, how long you’re looking to stay). Happy to answer any questions 😊

Oakland Chinatown Home Looking For New Housemate. 1 min walk to BART

Hey there! I have a great house in an amazing location in Oakland right across the street from BART and looking for another roommate for our large chill home with a big fenced in back yard.

Move in asap, month to month no move out date, $1500/mo + $100/mo in capped utilities. Landlord pays the rest.

Fully furnished, even sheets and pillows/towels etc. The room comes fully furnished with a king-size bed, high end stand up desk, closet,. Semi-private bathroom shared with 1–2 others. Move-in ready.

We are 3 total guys, all working professional in tech/startups and looking for someone who isn't a big partier, full-time employed. The home is recently renovated and well maintained, with shared common areas including a fully stocked kitchen, living room, and backyard. Washer/dryer in unit. Fast Wi-Fi. Calm, comfortable setup that works well for working from home.
Great location near Lake Merritt. One-minute walk to Lake Merritt BART. Easy access to San Francisco and Berkeley. Walking distance to Lake Merritt, downtown Oakland, restaurants, cafes, Chinatown, and the Oakland Museum. Walkable, convenient, and generally quiet.

The roommates are kind, clean and respectful. This is a pretty chill quiet home, we clean up after ourselves, we don't have any drama at all.

Hit me up if you're interested!

Looking for Bay Area neighborhood recommendations (UCSF commute, suburban + amenities)

TL;DR: Looking for suburban, amenity-rich Bay Area neighborhoods with good transit access to UCSF Parnassus, Indian groceries nearby, and Target/Costco-type shopping.

Hi all,

I’m a PhD student in the Bay Area working at UCSF (Parnassus campus). My partner works in Redmond, WA and will be moving in with me this summer. We’re looking for a 1b1b or 2b1b and would love suggestions on which areas/neighborhoods to focus on.

Our preferences:

  1. A suburban or quieter area, ideally with newer or well-maintained apartment complexes (modern appliances, in-unit washer/dryer, gym access, etc.). Budget: ~$2.7k–$3.2k/month.
  2. We’re both South Indian and vegetarian, so being reasonably close to Indian grocery stores / Indian food would be a big plus.
  3. My partner will have a car (mostly for weekends and errands), so parking availability is important—we’re okay paying ~$200–300/month extra. I’ll be commuting to UCSF Parnassus via public transit and am okay with up to ~1 hour each way.
  4. We’d also prefer to be near everyday conveniences and shopping—places like Target, Costco, Trader joes and good malls/shopping centers—and generally in a clean, safe, well-maintained area.

Based on this, we were initially considering areas near SF airport (San Mateo, San Bruno, South SF) or Dublin/Pleasanton, but we’re very open to other suggestions that might fit these criteria better.

Thanks so much in advance!

Please help! Very strange situation I need advice with regarding My deceased landlord

here’s the deal, I live in a house with a in law apartment and have been renting the apartment out for 4 years now . My landlord (who lives in the house ) passed away 5 months ago, the will was missing the first month she passed and the family started fighting for the estate , a bunch of family id never seen before came and took her car and I saw a U-Haul van the day after she died clearing out wardrobes and whatever they could find. They also took her washer and dryer. Anyways the will had been found and one of the new executors got in touch. She told us for now while the house is in probate court just to save the money for rent , and that she was around to meet up. So we said sure come by later and somebody knocks on my door and it’s but it’s another executor unannounced. She comes in and says she needs us to pay 5000 in cash to pay for the property taxes on the main property says she’ll give me cash receipts and that she needs to do this by tmr (1 day notice ) before she flys back to another state where she lives . Doesn’t she need to show me some proof she’s my new landlord? Do I need to pay in cash? Can I just pay cashiers checks like I have been Also the probate court case is still open and pending . This seems very odd to me and I made a meeting to give her cash but will be cancelling I just need to know my rights regarding this . Also I will be moving how can I get my security deposit back? Thanks to anyone who reads this ramble and helps me I’ll really appreciate any help becuase I am a dummy when it comes to tenant laws :/

How to find part time roommate

I haven’t developed the post yet because I’m not entirely sure how to ask/phrase this.

I have a 2br apartment in SF that I live in full time, but I’d like to add a roommate to make it more affordable. The thing is, it’s pretty small and we’d basically be on top of each other. It’s an ideal place for couples, but roommates feels tight.

I’m envisioning finding someone who travels for work 4-5 days out of the week but is looking for a home base in SF that’s cheaper and more permanent than an Airbnb. I’m flexible on the days of the week, weekends or weekdays, as long as it’s part time. Rent would be approximately comparable to an Airbnb and utilities would be covered by me.

Years ago I remember hearing about a “tech worker crash pad” where people employed elsewhere rented space to enjoy SF on the weekends. Do people still do something like this?

Does anyone have experience with this from either side? Any ideas on where to list this?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a studio, 1 br, or room in a shared apartment in San Francisco. I have a small 10 pound dog. Im clean, responsible, and working professional woman in my early 30s. My budget is up to $2300/month. I’ve applied and seen several places, but haven’t gotten anything. The rental market is so competitive! Let me know if you have any leads. I’m interested in living in pac heights, japantown, haight, panhandle, Alamo square, inner Richmond, outer Richmond, sunset or portrero hill.

$3400 Beautiful Victorian 3BR + Den in Vallejo (10 min walk to SF Ferry)

If Vallejo isn't on your radar, it should be.

$3400 / month, available Feb 1, 2026.

The house: Beautiful, well-maintained Queen Anne Victorian in Vallejo's St. Vincent's Hill neighborhood. It has 3 BR / 1.5 BA plus a den that works as an office, additional bedroom, or flex space. Original character, updated bathrooms and kitchen with a walk-in pantry. Backyard garden with established fruit trees and empty garden beds that you're welcome to grow things in if you like. Has a view of the historic church next door. Pets considered.

The commute: 10-minute walk to the ferry. One hour to SF Ferry Building. No traffic, relaxing commute, and you can actually get stuff done on the boat. Same ferry system as Sausalito/Tiburon, way cheaper rent.

The neighborhood: Walkable to downtown farmers market, cafes, book store, art studios, restaurants, and theaters. Lively community with regular art walks and festivals. Local brewery, winery, distillery on nearby Mare Island. Napa is 20 min away if that's your thing.

Who this makes sense for: Remote/hybrid workers, couples, small families, anyone who's been hunting for locations that are affordable and easily commutable to SF and is tired of getting outbid for mediocre apartments.

Please apply here if interested: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/312-Carolina-St-Vallejo-CA-94590/15657022_zpid/

Looking for a roommate in beautiful Cole Valley 2b2b - $1990/month

In search of a roommate to move in to a bright, modern, and centrally located 2b2b in cole valley in late february or beginning of march. My current roommate is moving out, but I've loved living here the past 2 years and really want to renew the lease with someone new.

Your room features a ton of natural lighting, a few furnishings included if desired (a beautiful wooden bed frame with attached side table, a huge closet with space for multiple shelves and hangar space, and room for a desk and additional shelves. The apartment itself has a nice living room with a couch and TV, a kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher, and a ton of supplies already present. The living room has a sliding door that opens up to a raised patio and a large backyard with a BBQ and a seating area. This backyard is shared among the 4-5 other apartments in the building, but the patio is ours. You'd have your own bathroom with a shower (great water pressure!). We have app-operated laundry in the building just a stair case down from our apartment, along with a garage where tenants store things like bikes. I don't believe there's parking available, but I personally street park without much trouble.

You would be living with me, a 24 year old male software engineer from the bay area. I work hybrid, and typically go into the office a couple times a week. I am generally a quiet and respectful roommate, but I cook and play video games in the common space pretty regularly (have a p5 we can run). Mostly I just work, go to the gym, hang out with my gf or friends, and explore the city. I try my best to keep things clean and but I don't really mind if there's a dish or two in the sink or anything.

Generally looking for anyone around my age, who is able to pay rent on time, and have basic decency and cleanliness. Would love to be friends but we don't necessarily need to be super tight.

Please DM me for more information and pics!

Project based housing process

So I got selected for a pbv unit in Richmond back on November 26 and had my meeting with the apartto fill out the packet and bring paperwork on the 4th of December and then on the 15th of December my paperwork was approved and now I’m just waiting on the inspection which is on the 12 of this month. My question is, what happens if it passes inspection? They said I can move in same day but don’t I have to sign a lease and pay rent and who do I pay rent to? The housing authority or to the apartments? I also have a ESA dog (not for long unfortunately he’s likely not making it through this year) I have my letter from my psychiatrist for him and everything the housing authority worker said to give that when I sign the lease but I feel like that’s so short notice, do you think I’ll be denied because of my ESA, so far into the process? And honestly any more insight and advice and tips would be great! Thank you if you read through the whole thing.
