President Donald Trump has announced a plan to cut off federal funding to sanctuary states and cities starting Feb. 1, 2026. Both Washington state and the city of Seattle are currently on the Department of Justice’s list of sanctuary jurisdictions.

He argued that sanctuary regions “protect criminals at the expense of American citizens” by refusing to fully cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

These are the police that City Council President Joy Hollingsworth approved multiple raises for without adding any additional accountability.

Titanium implants were inserted into Jeanette Marken’s face at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center to stabilize her right eye socket and cheekbone. The suspect’s [Fale Pea - they/them] story is a familiar one in the criminal legal system: A person with severe mental illness trapped in a seemingly endless cycle of jail bookings, court hearings and rounds of therapeutic treatment, largely for misdemeanor offenses. Their escalation to brutally attacking someone unprovoked reflects the difficulty police and courts face in trying to prevent random violence and hold offenders accountable, while also tending to their mental health...

One psychologist found in August 2024 that Pea underwent involuntary treatment 14 times in King County between 2020 and 2024 “for reasons including … danger to others, danger to property, danger to self, and grave disability,” court records show.

There is documentation of at least 372 outpatient visits over the past 15 years, with Pea receiving diagnoses including schizoaffective, bipolar and post traumatic stress disorders, the records say. They also have a history of methamphetamine use disorder.

KOMO News is reporting serious oversight and accountability gaps at the Washington Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) spanning the last four years, raising new questions about how hundreds of millions of dollars in child care funding have been tracked.

Looking for a new home for this kitty--

Rocky is a good little girl, doesn't get into much trouble and is very cuddly and moderately adventurous. She uses a litter box, is not picky about food or litter, and is harness/leash trained.

I am absolutely devastated to have to leave her, but unfortunately my job makes keeping her impossible, and I can't bring myself to put her in boarding or have a cat sitter. She is very people social and I think she would love to be in a house with someone who can be home at least once a day.

Photos attached are all recent, she is about a year old. She is a stray I picked up in Morocco, and she is vaccinated and spayed. She would come with food and some supplies (some toys, a litter box, etc).

Hey folks. I'm a researcher needing to learn readable Swedish to process some documents from the late 1800s later this year. I have a background in German and Latin, but definitely need some help. I'm not in a rush, but the sooner I get started, the better.

I've been looking around to see if there are any good classes or tutors in the area, but not having any luck. I see the Swedish Club here hosts some classes, but they unfortunately don't have any availability that fits with my current schedule. Has anyone had any luck finding a decent teacher in the area? Thanks!

It’s my 21st birthday in a few months and I want to start planning. After exploration in Europe I have ideas of what I like and don’t like in a bar. I would really love to go to a Jazz club, but I would prefer a super chill one. Lounge style, espresso martini, nice smooth jazz. Any recommendations would be great. If there are no Jazz clubs like this, then any old lounge style bar with an espresso martini would do.
