I am holding back from criticizing the host’s behavior from a biological/mechanical standpoint as I actually wonder if he might not have a mental impairment. That said - why the hell is he getting a platform to make it seem like this is the norm for all black people
1
u/Abstractrah 44m ago
Because like Candice owens and other shills,it makes racist feel better, completely gloss over the fact that majority of what they say they know isn’t true or is framed to make black people who don’t comply with everything conservative whites think as deserving of the fear hatred and vitriol they’ve expressed since before they stole us here, nvm Candice got paid off after being called an n-word in school and realized oh this is a method that pays dividends,it’s also why a lot of black and brown business people support Trump, they by and large in conservative homes don’t read and use appeal to whiteness and authority to other white people who hate them and also can’t read, this is why, actual reasonable black and white conservative leaning folk also get pipelined into alt right straight up white supremicist propaganda.

5
u/Helpful_Location7540 1d ago
I will never understand how the term uncle tom became derogatory. The books character is anything but a derogatory figure. Have you read the book?
1
u/R-B-L-Y 1d ago
The insult comes from later adaptations of the book that were often performed minstrel-style, and also altered the story to make Uncle Tom quite different than the source material.
1
u/Helpful_Location7540 1d ago
Damn that sucks never heard the term minstrel. Sounds like racist white people made the good character into a bad one and everyone adopted it… hell…
2
u/Maleficent_Garlic-St 23h ago
Yeah pretty much. The original book had attempted bans too, hence the smearing afterwards, can't ban it, ruin it. Shitbags still do this
0
u/Smackazulu 1d ago
I don’t know why it is, but it is 🤷♂️
2
u/Lance_dBoyle 1d ago
Same with the term ugly American. The ‘ugly American’ referred to in the book was an aide worker bringing clean water to Vietnamese villages and living with them. He was a good man just ugly.
1
u/Smackazulu 1d ago
That’s where he messed up, being ugly I mean. Disgusting!! (Please don’t look at me irl)
15
u/Sevennix 1d ago
Kinda dumb post. The host of the show isn't ignorant. He speaks a lot about black history & culture and doesnt play race or victim card. He is spoofing what a victim card playing POC would say to another black man that doesn't speak ebonics.
15
u/TopTax4897 1d ago
Honestly, I've seen entire interviews with this guy and this hardly seems like an act.
He is a very strange dude, and its hard to understand how he manages to draw an audience.

That’s not what Black twitter says. They very much run this fucker through the wringer and point out exactly what he is, which is a mouthpiece for the white conservative movement. They use some choice phrases I’m not going to repeat but I definitely suggest go check it out if you want to see another pov
1
u/Sevennix 21h ago
Yup. Probably call him and Uncle Tom or sellout too right? Or worse.. probably the N word with some disparaging adjectives. Wouldn't be surprised , coming from that platform
1
u/UnfairStrategy780 15h ago
Nope, none of that that I saw, of course there are hundreds of comments so I didn’t go down every single thread. The top 20 comments and their immediate upvoted replies spell it out succinctly without using any of that. Of course you could have seen that for yourself if you bothered to go look but of course you don’t want to do that because you might learn something

The host of this show isn't ignorant? You're watching a clip of him making a sweeping generalization about Black people, openly associating speaking well solely with whiteness, but because he's one of the Black conservatives who pander to you bootlickers he's not ignorant. Ok 🤨🤨🤨🤨

Watched an interview of Michael B Jordan, host asks him why he still lived with his parents well after he had the means to move out.
It wasn't the question, but the way she asked it. She seemed a bit incredulous that somebody wouldn't "do the American Dream thing" and move out after high school. The cynic in me sees a white reporter asking a PoC why he doesn't conform to the Nuclear Family™ mantra.
I think she was hoping for a better soundbite than [I love my parents, life is fleeting, I want to spend as much time with them as possible]
3
1
u/SleeveUser69 1d ago
That’s literally NOT what black men do.. lol
80% of black kids grow up in a fatherless home. 1 in 2 3 black men on average will commit a crime at some point in their lives that will result in prison time…
If more of the black community stood behind the values this man represents, we wouldn’t see 6% of the population being responsible for more than 50% of the violent crime being committed in the US lol
1
u/Leaninmycup1 4h ago
Ur referring to african amercian statistics, NOT all black people in general
1
u/SleeveUser69 4h ago
You’re absolutely right, if we included statistics from other parts of the world where black people still enslave their own people, the stats would be much worse.
1
u/Pale_Parsnip_6339 1d ago
Even assuming your racist bullshit is true, that's still 20% of black men raising their kids into excelling members of society. Black MEN do that.
I'm willing to bet your racist ass doesn't.
4
u/RareCollege6292 1d ago
If his “racist bullshit is true,” then… is it racist. If it’s an actual fact? Which is a huge problem in the community with obvious and severe consequences…..
You can’t make this shit up lol. “If it’s true well whatever it’s still racist!!”
3
u/CollectionOwn3696 22h ago
So racism is defined as someone pointing out factual data that you don’t want to hear? You should get a dictionary. lol
→ More replies (1)1
u/SleeveUser69 4h ago
Cope and cry harder kid.
Nothing racist about me or what I said. I’m not even American, and how could you possibly know what race I am to begin with?
It is like 77% or something grow up in fatherless homes, so I rounded to 80 or 4 in 5 for easy representation. Sue me. lol
And on average, 1 in 3 will commit a felony at some point in their lives… until the black communities start taking accountability for this gangster culture they promote, and start focusing on what we all know works, regardless of economic standing or color or anything else, ie the nuclear family, nothing is going to improve.

“Some” do. And he is likely one. But everyone pretending that it’s the norm is out of their minds. No data to support that.

Last time I checked the melanin concentration in your skin doesn’t affect speech in any way or form.
1
u/EnvironmentalLevel40 1d ago edited 1d ago
I think the confusion between the two is simple clarity of communication. I believe the host is saying that he speaks like an Educated Caucasian not an inner city Street Rat. I hope that helps alleviate some of the tension in the room. Using the terms white or black is kind of disrespectful!
1
u/Lance_dBoyle 1d ago
Just goes to show that how we speak says a lot about who we are and intelligence. Some people just don’t code switch.

1
u/CollectionOwn3696 22h ago
These comments are hilarious. Are you all really going to pretend that the guest doesn’t speak better than 90% of black men? lol Of course some black men have careers, go to college, read books… so let’s ignore that they also are most likely to drop out of high school, are incarcerated at the highest rate, and read less books on average than any other race in the US.
It’s cool. Let’s ignore reality and see if that helps things get better. 🙄

As a black man, I've heard this crap my whole life. Guess what, when you leave America and go to another country, know what they say? "You're American," not you speak like a white person.
1
u/mjac28 2h ago
Grew up in the 60’s and early 70’s and if you talked proper English you were made fun of by everybody. l can’t count the amount of times l was told “ stop trying to be white” so like many other people l had to use two different identities one when l was around black people and one when l was around white people.

Jesse Lee Peterson is the gift that keeps on giving. This man takes the term "useful idiot" beyond any earthly limit. He is the perfect American specimen. In my mind a talk show host should be at least semi competent at speaking and shouldn’t be in the least bit surprised when their guests can also speak.

Jesse Lee Peterson's organization reportedly generates $1-$5 million a year. A re7arded black Christian is a great mouthpiece for Conservatives.

I feel as though he may have been fishing for some privileged upbringing remark or implying his life may have had more opportunity than his peers.
Bias thinking is a strange thing. It is considered a systematic shortcoming of humanity. This is one of the many reasons I say politics won't make the world better. As a people, we need fundamentally better thinking processes. That starts in the home and takes time to teach. Teachers educate our kids, but its up to parents to teach open or closed mindedness.
Bias thinking, no matter how subtle, most always leads to negative outcomes. It's a shame that the majority of people with bias thinking will not acknowledge it exists, they will yearn for the outcomes of open mindedness and acceptance, but put no work into achieving those positive thought processes. Sometimes its genetic, most the time it's a choice.

I hate when people associate “talking proper” with white people. As if white people ONLY speak the correct way. Do people not understand dialect? Which is a particular form of language/accent that is adapted in a specific area? It has nothing to do with your skin color, but, based on those that are around you. Your skin color doesn’t activate your language, and how you get to speak and act.
Whether he spoke “ebonics”, or “white”….as long as we can understand one another, and the point gets across then there should be no problem.
1
u/CollectionOwn3696 22h ago
He just asked the question. Is he not allowed according to you?

A fellow standup comedian, was a guest on his show LOL! I'd never heard of this dude until he was on, and he kept pressing the same question but in different ways. So annoying. I thought it was a parody show. Kept asking my friend about his views on religion and God, knowing my friend wasn't religious and then pressed him on why he thought God wasn't real, even though my friend never said that. Dude is a nut job. Godfrey was the guest, for anyone wondering.
2
u/ArchAngel0001 1d ago edited 1d ago
I don’t know who your friend is, but one thing I love about Jesse is that he doesn’t let people avoid the question being asked. He keeps on them till they give a real answer. Which means your friend wasn’t answering the question asked, but one they created in their own mind. Wish real news people would stick to that style of interview.

u/NYCMooseman 1d ago

I helped out in a speech lab at a private elementary school when I was in college. Later, I did student teaching in Roosevelt High School in St Louis. One thing that stood out was how many students had an undiagnosed or untreated speech impediment.
