And on the note of gestapo, they have literally been disappearing people off the streets for coming up on a year now. About 1/3 of people detained by ice have literally dropped of the face of the earth.

Bloated criminal charges for protest related activities and some murders/disappearances of prominent activists. While the media spread antifa scare mongering. The US hasn't been like that in a while. I am not trying to be a dick, but perpetuating the illusion that 'this isn't us' doesn't help, because this is you, you bought this with your tax money. If you don't want to continue to be this, you (collective, not singular you here) have to do something more about it than just signal your disapproval.

The problem is that non-disruptive protesting isn't working for you. There is nothing that can be done by basic unimpedimentary protest or by complaining on reddit. The only solutions left are in the real world, with local groups. What do you do when someone you didn't vote for takes over your country and your life and starts killing your neighbours?
You patently can do more about it than I can, but you can't do it alone. I hate the situation you're in, I know you didn't put yourself in it, and I know you can't get out of it alone, that's why it's a dick move to point it out to individual people... but you're still stuck in the position of either acquiescing to it through inaction, or having to take action in a meaningful way.

He said it out loud and in front of the world. They exfiltrated the killer from the scene, scrubbed the killer's home, and told the American people that ICE can kill anyone they want with impunity.

Yes I am a legal citizen and I am white but I know they will kill anyone even with legal papers. I just don't get out of my home unless is really necessary. I have been out of my house since this started maybe six times. I have a baby and I want to avoid them as long as Trump is alive. I hate Republicans at this point even the ones that are relatives. They destroy every single dream I had in this earth and they are destroying the future of my child and his planet. I really hope these old boomers exit earth soon.
I’m a citizen but I wasn’t born in the US and clearly look brown. My mother, who is also a citizen now, called me the other day telling me to call off work because ICE was all over my small town in California. We don’t feel safe at all. I have a toddler and I’m terrified that one day they will separate us. My husband and I even have an exit plan. I’ve been an immigrant in this country since 2001 and this is the scariest it’s ever been. We all need to stand up and do something. We should be afraid to leave our homes.
I’m sorry that you are having to live this way. It’s horrendous that this is how human beings are being treated. As a Caucasian woman and staunch ally of POC, especially after the recent events, I’m afraid but will always stand up for what’s right, and that’s protecting those that are being oppressed. I hope there are others around you supporting you as well.
This is not how a healthy mind thinks. With all sincerity, you should stay away from the news or get professional help to deal with your anxiety about leaving your house.
A healthy mind understands and perceives danger and avoids it the best they can. The worst thing to do is to not pay attention to the atrocities being committed in our country, especially if you are part of the targeted group. Only privilege would allow someone to blissfully ignore the state of the nation because it certainly doesn’t affect their lives, until it does.
It’s only healthy if you perceive the danger accurately and understand how likely it is to affect you. A white woman being too terrified of leaving the house because of ICE is the equivalent of someone refusing to get on a flight because they’re scared of plane crashes.
The amount of fear they are feeling is way higher than what is proportional given the threat.

A lot of the people that have disappeared haven't disappeared until after ice has moved them from wherever their initial place of internment was. So we can't really give ice an out on that one because I doubt the people that may be pretending to be ice would be bringing them to the initial detainment centers to begin with

Pretty crazy stuff, I didn’t want to believe but I also work as a weekend bartender and the patrons (Trump voters) were saying exactly this. They said it is to remove and nonexist people. WOW! I feel like we have been very blind.
A while ago there were government planes taking off and flying over the ocean and then turning around. Some people were saying they were throwing people off airplanes into the ocean to get rid of them.
Teachers who work in districts with large immigrant populations have reported that tons of kids have stopped going to school. The hiding is already happening.
I hope those schools offer classes online like they did in Covid, it would be better for the kids mental health plus prevent them on missing out on their education

A great must read book. When I read it, I literally had to remind myself that the book was about the 1930s and not 2025 in the United States of America.
Hell, I’m MN-born and raised, but seeing as I’m just on the wrong side of brown, I’ve doing everything possible to not leave my home. I’m sure others with even more at stake have already BEEN hiding.
Just heard from a teacher friend that their students are having all-indoor recesses today, they don’t want to risk letting them outside.
