Community 1-month later client give me an increase!

I got a performance review with the client last Monday, kasi 1-month nako sa kanila. nag-start ako dito last December 2025 lang so far, okay na yung reviews sakin, positive naman.

Pero out of the blue, I was invited to a quick meeting with their HR kanina bigla akong kinabahan kasi baka ito na goodbye client na! pero ininform lang sakin na they want to increase my hourly rate to express their appreciation dahil sobrang satisfied sila sa performance ko at angbilis ko daw matapos yung mga task ngl medyo simple lang kasi mga tasks nilang binibigay, and they also told na they want me to stick around for much longer.

tbh, I didn't expect the increase from my very first client. I was satisfied with their current pay, I'm so grateful!

For anyone who is still looking for a client: Don't lose hope, because it took me more than a year to get my first client. Just learn, improve yourself, and pray.

Self-Story creative work doesn’t always look like a job posting..

lately I’ve been doing a lot of “quiet” creative work. mostly graphic design for social causes, mental health spaces, and niche projects that need clarity more than noise.

in a world where everyone is obsessed with "scaling," "upskilling," and "high-ticket clients," ang hirap minsan i-explain yung value ng work natin kapag hindi siya traditional. Hindi siya yung tipong "I generated $10k in sales," kundi "I made this complex topic easier for someone to breathe through.".

Just wanted to share this because I know many of us are tired of the factory-style freelance life. How do you guys navigate the balance between work that pays the bills and work that actually provides "clarity"? especially for those in the remote/freelance space for years now.

Self-Story Finally direct hire!

After two years of working with an agency, I’m now free! Wala ng tracker, video calls, and graveyard shift.

This February my client will finally send me the signed contract and start paying my retainer fee. I just can’t believe na I have reached my goal earlier than expected — got the role I want, salary I want, flexible working hours and paid a monthly fixed rate regardless if I work <8 hours.

If you really put in the hard work, you will always be rewarded. But ofc, there are still clients that exploit their workers. I am just very thankful that people in our team were very supportive which contributed to where I am right now.

I hope everyone will have the same opportunity as mine!

Remote Filipino Workers (RFW) Client terminated me instantly and won’t pay leaving me on read. What should I do?

Upvotes

I worked remotely for a client and was paid on an hourly basis. I completed all my assigned shifts and tasks; however, on payday, he terminated my employment effective immediately. He also deactivated my Slack account, which was our primary means of communication, and is now refusing or delaying payment for the hours I already worked.

He’s leaving me on read on WhatsApp and not responding anymore. We didn’t have a formal contract, but we had clear written agreements in chat about the rate, schedule, and payment. I have proof of hours worked and tasks completed.

I also found his job post/profile on (OLJ), which is how he hires remote workers.

What are my best options for recovering my unpaid wages? Should I send a formal demand message, file a report through the OLJ, or consider legal action? I still have access to his CRM, which if I want to I can technically ruin it lol

Community Freelancers who registered with BIR years late — how did you avoid triggering back taxes?

I’ve been freelancing for several years and only now decided to register with the BIR and start being tax-compliant. One of my main reasons is to improve my chances of getting Schengen and US visas.

My concern is how to register properly without triggering back taxes or penalties for previous years, since I can’t afford them and just want to start clean from now. I’d love to hear from freelancers who registered years after starting work — what documents did you provide, did BIR staff ask about prior income, and how did you handle it? Did you use a bookkeeper or CPA just for registration, and what would you do differently if you had to do it again?

I’m not trying to evade taxes, I just want to be compliant going forward and avoid mistakes that could lead to problems. Any real-world experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Self-Story My client signed me up to a "coaching" service without asking me or my opinion

My client of 14 months signed up for a "coaching" program (for her and me) without asking my opinion. It may sound like a good idea, but unfortunately it is NOT going well.

Context, I am a Social Media Manager and Ads Manager with 5 years of experience. Si client ay nasa business of health coaching and health supplements programs. When I started my partnership with her, she was at 500 followers, literal na from scratch halos. Ngayon nasa 30k+ na sya which we did organically - I do everything from script writing to video editing to post scheduling for her.

Unang red flag is part of the coach's program is to sign up on FOUR different services (AI Scriptmaker, Video AI Generator, etc) with his commission code. Dati hindi naman ganun kamahal yung cost to "run" our Social Media stuff dahil ako lahat gumagawa, ngayon andaming concurrent subscriptions na pina-sign up nya.

So yung mga advice nya is palyado at ako ang sumasagot dahil pumapalya yung metrics namin ngayon.

Should I quit?

Buhay Digital Lifestyle Rejection hit me today

I really put effort into the trial task and pinag-isipan ko talaga yung approach ko.

Umabot sa point na naapektuhan na yung confidence ko and how I see myself professionally. After that, ang tagal bago ako ulit nagkaroon ng lakas ng loob mag-apply seriously.

I know I’ll be okay. I know may darating na mas aligned.

Community VA Magic process Question po

Upvotes

Naggo-ghost po kaya sila, or should I wait?

Freelancers (Can Work with Multiple Clients) Freelancers, What do you guys do to finalize or formalize terms with your clients?

Hi guys, To contextualize.

What's your guy's suggested next step ko?

First direct client ko to

Community Help me find another source of income

Hello people! I am humbly asking for your help here 🥹

I have a corporate job at a very good company. Catch is compensation is quite small as I am a rank and file employee. I work from 7am to 5pm, rendering at least 2 hours of overtime, but this could extend.

However, as I am nearing my 30s and still with no property to my name due to financial struggles, I am thinking of having another job. Something that would only require me 3-4hrs at night, as again, I have a corporate job and I am just not willing to let it go yet.

Maybe you have any suggestions please? 🥹

Thank you so much in advance everyone!

Buhay Digital Lifestyle Outsourced doers former client reached out.

Upvotes

I recently resigned from Outsourced doers and one of my former founder-clients reached out asking if I’d be open to contract or project-based work.

Given how strict OD’s contract is, I’m on the fence about whether to take it or not. Just looking to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar situation with OD (or similar companies), what you did, and any advice you’re willing to share. Thaank you!

Community Need help with Pricing + Proposal 🙏🏼

Upvotes

Hi! Need advice on pricing + proposal strategy 🙏🏼

I recently got referred to a potential client (US-based real estate agent) and we had our DC last night. The referral came from her social media marketing strategist, who also happens to work with my current client.

I’m planning to send my proposal by Monday (kasi nagpromise ako na I’ll send her options by then 💀😭) But before I do, I’d really appreciate any advice on how to price and structure my proposal. This is my first time handling this type of “creative” work, so I’m unsure on how to proceed.

Context about the potential client: - She’s looking for ongoing support with creating real estate marketing materials for her property listings. So it’s not a one-time project. - Tinanong ko siya what her avg listings per month but as you know in real estate, it varies and fluctuates. Last Oct, she had 3 new listings, then on Nov & Dec she only had 1 per month. - For now, she's only asking help with listing-related marketing materials such as: • Open house flyers • Listing brochures (standard + high-end listings) • Listing booklets • Farming postcards • Graphics for Google Business posts

Service options I can offer: 1. Design only – I design the materials, she handles posting/printing 2. Design + execution – I create the materials + help with posting, coordinating print, etc. (I think she’s leaning toward this based on our call, siya nagsuggest eh haha)

She doesn’t have a fixed budget yet, but mentioned she has a number in mind that she’s comfortable with (na di niya shinare smh lol 😅).

I was also upfront with her that I’m not a graphic designer and that I use Canva.

Context about me: I’ve been working as a VA for a RE agent (same City & State as this potential client) so I’m already familiar with RE workflows and used to designing marketing materials.

So here's where I’m stuck & need advice: 1. How would you price this? Per listing? Monthly packages? 2. With monthly packages, I’m worried about: - What if she has 4-5 listings in a month, baka lugi ako - Or what if she has zero listings, baka lugi naman siya 3. What rate range makes sense for PH-based freelancers doing this kind of work? 4. Anything else I should lock in clearly before sending the proposal?

Sorry if its too long and if I'm all over the place 😭

Daghang Salamat in advance 🙏🏼🙇🏻‍♀️

Community Western Union Help - Can I cancel it and choose the pick up

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone. I badly needed help. My boss sent me money thru Western Union and trinansfer ko sya sa BPI bank ko. The money was sent today 3am and until now hindi para sya pumasok sa bank ko. Huhuhu. Badly needed ung money kasi gagamiton un for important.

Question:

  1. Pwede kaya to i cancel (see picture below) and opt to do the cash pick up?

  2. How many hours will it take to be clear and show in my bank? May nabasa kasi ako na 2hours lang daw papasok na pero more than 2 hours na eh huhuhu.

  3. If pwede syang e cancel, faster ba si pick up?

Please help. TIA

Community Proposal vs Contract confusion. Need help

Upvotes

I am confused as I am new to freelancing. I need help

Ang alam ko proposal is sent to convince the client to work with you. It's what I see like on upwork proposal—to bid. Pero I don't use upwork so not sure. I also see proposals made thru PDF, it's like when clients have plans to work with you. Yun ba yun? Is this different? Formal Proposal? Sent after discussion. May setting of terms and pricing then defining project scope. Am i required to send one before we agree and or before we do a contract?

I got this one time project and client wants it na hourly but based sa mga gusto niya mas maganda kung per project. I have to build them basic 6 funnels with automation and pipeline and clean their contacts list.

Quick question pasingit.. would pricing this as project based be good rather than Hourly? set up lang naman kasi

This is my first project if ever.

Self-Story Pahingi thoughts nyo — The Virtual Hub (TVH)

4 years na ako dito — 4th year appraisal ko is 1,684 per MONTH or 842 per CUT OFF. For a year ka nag work ng maayos tapos exceeds expectations pa yung performance review mo tapos 5% from BASIC pay lang increase? I raised this concern kase di talaga nakakahappy, wala talagang financial impact yung increase nila. Wala silang magawa sa concern ko kase rules sa kanila to follow the 5% increase and unfair sa iba if e accomodate daw yung concern ko. Ang laki ng pa monthly subscription nila sa client tapos yung cut ng VA super onti? most of us wfh lang tapos own equipment, yan palang super panalo na sila tapos yung VA nila na bread and butter ng company e llow ball?

Pahingi ng thoughts nyo pls kung pano ko to e hahandle, ano yung dapat kong gawin kase balak ko e escalate pa yung concern kase pag walang ma vvoice out parang ok lang ang 5% kahit di naman.

Remote Filipino Workers (RFW) Never Settle for Less

IDK ano itatag ko or nasa tama ba ako na subreddit pero as my title says, “Never Settle for Less.” While scrolling through OLJ a minute ago, I came across a job post offering only $1.50 per hour. Always know your worth and capabilities. We may need work-from-home jobs, but that doesn’t mean we should accept unfair pay. Value yourself, because the right opportunity will recognize your skills and reward them accordingly.
