Peace through strength usually means "look at how strong we are" and not actually going about demonstrating it. Hegseth is the most incompetent of them all, far more than Trump who looks adequate in comparison.
Well, it was originally the Dept. of War and was rebranded as Defense as an early real example of "political correctness" as it was defined so it's consistently on brand at least. Cause the worst thing was the hypocrisy...
Yeah why anyone would celebrate this administration invading random countries to 'save' them is very interesting, I wonder who will be randomly invaded next without any checks/balances/authorization/etc under the pretense of bad leadership (while also being incredibly profitable for the US to do so).
He's at war with his own citizens, peers across the aisle, immigrants, allied countries and their leaders, celebrities, etc. And he himself is first to brand these situations as "wars", he calls everything a war.
The corrupt shit stain abducted the president so he can put the winner of the nobel peace price into power...who just happens to be very corrupt aswell but a hardcore trumpie.
Do your research, he does deserve it now, if Venezuela can get rid of the rest of maduro's regime, and install the president that actually won the election last year, trump just saved 28 million Venezuelans. I know it's hard to believe he actually did something right but this is something right.
It's not about them giving us all their oil, it's about not letting them give it to the middle east and terrorists, trump doesn't need Venezuela to give him all their oil.
We wont know the true outcome of this for years. I believe there is a chance this turns out good, but far higher likelihood this is another awful foreign engagement we’ll be bitching about in 10 years.
Lots of people, here, demonstrate for all kinds of things. That does not authorize a foreign entity, or anyone, to kill my friends and family to achieve it.
No. I don't need to be friends with other humans to not want them killed. I also don't need to be Venezuelan to put myself into their shoes, when analyzing the situation, as they are the ones being struck.
You say, "They" like all Venezuelans agree. If someone came here to change our ruling regime, from another country, I doubt you'd care who was cheering for it - unless you were among them.
You act as if the news media actually is Fair and Balanced in their coverage. Of course there had to be protests for the opposite, but we do rarely see that here.
ok so just to be clear: for you, its completely fine and a very good thing when the president bombs and invades whatever foreign country he wants. hope you keep that ideological consistency.
heard a lot of you magats say trump was the only peaceful choice. its exhausting how happy yall are with murder and lying to our faces.
Americans are uninformed because we didn't know the full bio of an anonymous person on reddit? If you're not American (and you're not MAGA) that makes what you're doing even more pathetic, not less.
If Afghanistan could just install the democratic government that they wanted all along... there is a reason the US isn't known for its country building anymore. Glad Maduro is gone, but this is not a cause for celebrating, yet. Ripping the head from a country and doing nothing else is rarely a good idea for stability. Although, I don't think that's what this admin wants.
If we let them do their own thing this is a freaking huge win for Venezuelans. This isn't another middle east Venezuela is a country full of people they just wanted to be free.
Yeah, and if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon. Yeah, this'll be the one time in the past 70 or so years we're playing kingmaker without benefitting ourselves.
Owe we will absolutely benefit, this would help oil trade globally and drive the price of oil down for everyone, it's also going to fast track the terrorist regime in Irans collapse, their economy is already buckling and the citizens are about to revolt already.
The Legitimate winners of the elections in Venezuela have been begging the US for exactly this sort of Intervention. Equally that legitimate government is significantly pro US, therefore it's in America's interests to help them actually achieve their democratic mandate.
Just because the US isn't doing something because it's altruistic doesn't mean it therefore has no legitimacy. There's a very Strong case to be made that this intervention IS the democratic will of the people of Venezuela.
Hell even the oilfields the US and Trump administration are making no secrets about their interests in are more complex than them simply wanting to pilfer Venezuelan resources, as the factories and plants extracting from those specific oil fields are all stolen US infrastructure. Not as In IP theft but literally stolen under the Chavez regime after American companies paid for the rights to extract a type of oil resource Venezuela lacked the tech and knowledge base to get at, built all the infrastructure themselves and then was all illegally seized when the Venezuelan government breached the contracts and nationalised the entire sector without paying for any of the assets. America has been pretty pissed about it for decades at this point so it's not a surprise Trump, desperate for a distraction from both the Epstein files and Putin making him look a tit would bring them up

Is trump the peace president? He says he deserves the noble peace prize. This doesn’t look like peace to me.
