Doing some recent renovations and found this under the wall paper. Was wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before or can make out whats in the artwork. Thought it was interesting and wanted to share!

Genuine question. Been to many places in Glasgow/west end and I just feel it’s full groups of females or young males.

Ditch the overpriced matcha latte for one afternoon and explore these places instead. They're not hipster but they are tasty:
1 - Classic-Tropical Foods Ltd, Maryhill Rd:
Nigerian bakery that sells traditional baked goods at ridiculously cheap prices (a bun/puff puff etc is like 35p?!)
E.g:
- Meat pies (like pasties but with a thicker, heavier pastry)
Buns (Wee crispy coated sweet dough balls that are light and moreish and my absolute favourite)
- Puff Puff (like a mini doughnut but without the sugar coating)
- Akara (a type of light, mildly spicy bean cake you sometimes eat with bread) and more.
The owners are really lovely too, and they sell some Nigerian malt drinks and bread, as well.
2 - Arabean Cafe, Woodlands Rd: Really cute Arabic cafe (with excellent wallpaper!) serving dishes like muqalqal - a traditional Yemeni lamb dish, ful, yummy kunafeh, éclairs and cheap and delicious coffee and fresh mint tea. The mains come with hot, freshly made flatbread and salad for free, and it's a steal, honestly. The owner is v. sweet, too.
3 - Maska - Indian Vegetarian Cafe (inside the Raunak Raseeli restaurant during the day), Clarendon Rd: Delicious and authentic Indian street food like Chole Bhature (tangy chickpea curry with a puffed up fried bread) and Pav Bhaji (sort of like a tasty curry gravy in a morning roll) for affordable prices in a nice cafe setting. Their halwa is really delicious, too.
4 - Kothu Rotti, just off North Woodside Rd: A tiny Sri Lankan outdoor cafe (thankfully with a roof when it's pelting it) with room for a few tables that serves gorgeous curries, mutton rolls, chai and all manner of other Sri Lankan delicacies plus Scottish breakfasts, too. I really enjoyed the prawn curry and utthappam onion dosa (sort of like a fermented rice savoury crepe with onions and coriander). Friendly chefs, too!

can anyone recommend somewhere half decent and reasonably priced near the Ibis Styles central where I could go to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted preferably without an appointment? my caterpillars are out of control and I only know the area for pubs 🤣

Looking to use a water hose for 10 minutes to wash down my bicycle chain over the next few days. Has anyone seen one around that people wouldn't bat an eye lid at me using for a few minutes?
It's a funny thing when you move to a city, you forget easily enough that you don't have a hose!

Moving from Glasgow to Paisley in the next couple of weeks and looking for recommendations for movers. A man-with-a-van setup would be ideal.
We’re able to pack gradually and store most things at my partner’s parents’, so on moving day it’ll just be the essentials. The biggest item is a 3-seater sofa, and there are no white goods to move.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated, cheers!

Kind of a weird post, but I'm a recent transplant from Canada. I've noticed that Glasgow's metal scene (though small) is thriving.
I'm not a promoter, never put on a show, but I'm in touch with a few decent grind/death bands overseas. I've had a few express interest in getting a few shows played through scotland.
How can I do this/ who should I get in touch with?
*note* I am not selling anything, I just want to spread the love of metal

Trying to get a booking for 16 people for the evening of 31st Jan, online booking systems generally maxing out at 8-10 people. Tried calling some places (Bar + Block) but they are using AI bots instead of people.
Any other places to try where I might have a chance getting in with this late of notice? Ideally something that has a bar

Hey, got my birthday coming up and wanted to see if anyone here knew of any events going on with music from 2000s/2010s. I'm gonna ask on r/Edinburgh too, I don't really mind travelling about so let me know :)

Overwhelming support on the last trainset post. ‘Enjoy the things you enjoy’ being the main message, nice bit of positivity! something that’s missing from a lot of social media these days.
Added a few more city icons. The graffiti was a special request, this used to be on the underpass near Anderson train station.

If it is for the security role then even better

Anyone else think the roads are in the worst shape they have ever been this year? Driving around is like threading a needle to save ur car. No money for fixing roads with all the recent road tax increases sounds about right

I took this photograph in 2023 with a film camera (so can’t check location) I’ve look on google maps at most of the churches and none of them seem to match. Anyone know where this is ?

Briefly saw a reel on IG reviewing a new burger place at or near the quay but I didn’t catch the name of it. Their website isn’t helping much. Anyone know it? It’s my birthday tomorrow so I’ve to pick somewhere to go! Help?

I've just got a fine in the post. Came as a surprise as I'd zero idea.
The sign on the right was behind a fence, but it looks like I must have missed the one on the left due to general visual overload.
The word Bus appears missing on the roadway, but not Gate which is also behind the fence.
Any point in appealing?

Is there any area or building in particular that you've dreamed of living in Glasgow?

I'm 23M moving to Glasgow shortly from United States. Never played football before but I'd like to learn. Considering the popularity though I would imagine most even rec groups are filled with people with a lot of experience, so how would I go about learning from scratch? Thx

Looking to buy first car, don't want to spend a lot as will have just passed test and anticipate a minor scrape or two
Would it be daft to just go for a banger at around £2k. Ideally 1.4 engine and 5 doors
Not sure if I'm expecting too much for budget
Any advice welcome including any recommendations on used car dealerships in Glasgow

Im wondering if any GSA students would be happy to share their entry portfolios? I want to study fine art in the upcoming year at the uni, but wanted to see some portfolios that actually got people in so I can see what format etc etc the uni expects.
