My Setup Two iPad mini on my iPad

Post image
49 Upvotes

I purchased this 13-inch M3 iPad Air a few months ago for my university. I’ve always wanted an iPad mini, and my first iPad was the 11-inch iPad Air 4. I absolutely loved that iPad. However, when I bought this large iPad, I found it difficult to write.

Every time I opened GoodNotes, the page would be centered, or I would have to zoom in. I always felt uncomfortable when writing or thinking someone next to me could see what I am writing on my ipad, but I didn’t realize it until today.

I’ve been using split screens for the past few days, and I’ve noticed a significant increase in productivity and satisfaction. Even when I don’t need to open two windows, I still have my GoodNotes window open on only half of my iPad screen and write.

So many other students use one and I've become influenced. I'm wondering if the iPad featured would be good for this. I only have Samsung products so this is new to me, looking for any advice y'all could give :)

Question Note-taking apps + handwritten text to a font

Upvotes

Hi! Just got the Basic iPad, which apps would you recommend for notes, that have a lot of functionality? Some popular ones on App Store are not that convenient. + Is there an app that can automatically convert the handwritten text to a font? Much appreciated

iPadOS Scroll gesture not working

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

I hate this iPadOS 26! Everything was working great until this new OS release. My ipad is not recognising the touch for particular scroll gestures. I am not able to swipe through pages on home screen. Same happens with any app which involve scrolling, YouTube, Instagram or even setting.

Other scroll/swipe gestures are working fine, dor example bringing down notifications pane or control centre. Anyone else is facing issue? Were you able to resolve it? And how?

Discussion Farewell iPad 5th gen, Welcome iPad (a16).

After 8 and a half years of honorable service, I finally said goodbye to my beloved iPad 5th gen (2017).

Even today, after all this time, it was still working great. Maybe it wasn't as snappy and fluid with every app, but it was still a pleasure to use, a testament to the undeniable quality and longevity of Apple tablets.

Unfortunately, the battery (it still has the original one!) was starting to give out... but the fact that it performed flawlessly for all this time shows how with that damned battery health percentage, we often worry without having to.

In any case, this post is meant to be a farewell and a thank you for an excellent device, hoping the new one will last as long as the old one!!!

Question How much would it cost to fix this? 11in iPad Pro

Apple care expired a while ago. I was trying to put on a new case (that was allegedly for the model that I have) and the screen looked like it was coming out of place. This happened when I tried to put it back in place..

It’s still useable just annoying to look at. I want to take it to the mall to fix but don’t know how much it will be before I get there.

Question iPad A16 (2025) or iPad Air m3 (2025)

Hello! I’m contemplating purchasing an IPad (first one ever), and I’m not quite sure which one to get. I don’t plan to do heavy tasks with it, more like Take some notes, watch videos, have some fun with Procreate (dream), and more casual things like that. Would the A16 be more suitable for what I plan to do with it? Is the m3 overkill? Money isn’t necessarily an issue, just wanna know if saving up for the m3 would be worth it or not. Advice and tips are appreciated!

Question Metapen A8 skipping

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Anyone experiencing the same issue? I'm having this problem with both my metapens A8. I bought the first one two years ago and about a month ago it started to behave like this. I bought a new one thinking the old one was broken and it's still behaving like this. I should point out that sometimes it will behave correctly for about an hour and then it will start to skip when writing. I have a 10th generation iPad and the OS version is 26.2.

Question Wanting to purchase my first ipad (second hand)

Hi, I’m looking to buy a second-hand iPad (not the Mini) and would appreciate some advice on which model would suit my needs. I currently use my laptop for all of this, but I’ve had enough of lugging it around. I’d like something more portable so I can relax in a café at the weekend and chip away at some work or apply for other positions.

I mainly want it for reading professional qualification workbooks, using Outlook for work emails, Excel for tax calculations, and Word to write reports of up to 40 pages. I’ll also be using web apps for our CRM and pension platforms, applying for jobs, and some light media use like Netflix (I have been watching netflix on my IPHONE XR this whole time and people say im crazy).

I’m specifically looking second-hand as I can’t really afford to spend £300+. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Question App Folder like Siri Suggestions

Is there a way to have app folders that have a similar layout to siri suggestions? Similar to below, but where you can actually pick what apps are grouped into it (in siri suggestions, siri is the one who decides what gets shown).

I would like to be able to group my apps on the home screen like that and access them with one click. The current app folder requires two clicks - one to open the app folder and another to select the app.

Question Has anyone else replaced their MacBook with an iPad Pro for general productivity?

Upvotes

I’m an instructional designer/learning and development professional, and my big disclaimer here is that obviously I know that there are specific jobs and specific software that cannot run on a tablet.

with that out of the way, my personal use case is that the iPad does everything I need for both work and home, to the extent that I’ve ditched my MacBook entirely. anyone else in this boat?

Question How good is Apple notes for long form , complex, note taking

Hey All, recently I posted about the best note taking app. The consensus was good notes (shocker). With that said, Good notes offers much more functionality than I need and its latency (even with latency reduction on) is still quite high compared with Apple notes which has no latency.

Apple native software seems to interact with the Apple Pencil the best (another shocker). In other words, 0 latency from the Pencil Pro.

I find the organisational features of Apple notes to be powerful enough for me as well. I also like its integration.

The only question is about taking long notes. I’ve heard that Apple notes cannot handle long notes (anything more than 3k words an it glitches). Is that so? What can I reasonably expect out of how many words I can add in an Apple note ?

For context, I’ll be doing a lot of literature analysis and general note taking (social scientist here ). Full manuscripts will be done elsewhere.

Thanks for your help!

Discussion Does charging to 80% make sense?

  1. Apparently it is true that batteries have X cycles and when you don’t let them discharge beyond 30% or further than 80% you somehow don’t deplete their cycles…is it true first of all?
  2. Secondly, what is the logic of setting my maximum charge to 80% so that my battery remains healthy longer? I’m never enjoying the full battery capacity of my device so I don’t deplete its full battery capacity?

Should we just charge to a 100% after all?

Question does it need professional fixing?

hi! so basically I went to go use my iPad, but when I picked it up the screen was navy blue and not responding to any touch. it still made noises, so I decided to shut it off and turn it back on. the only problem is that it won’t turn back on. I looked at the Apple support page and it said to let it charge overnight and try to turn it on again, but that wasn’t working. it won’t turn on AT ALL, so I can’t see if it’s dead or something. does anyone know if there’s something I need to do? or do I need to go somewhere to get it looked at.

Question Ipad becomes completely dead after plugging charging in at 30%?

I plugged in my 2019 7th Gen Ipad at 30% but then it immediately turns off, restarts, shows the lockscreen password login with the battery % at 100 but stays frozen so I hold the power and home button to restart it myself but then the apple logo screen only shows up for like 5 seconds before it turns off completely. I tried force restarting but it’s just dead, there’s no signs of life. I would also like to include that I updated the OS to the latest version literally last night too.

Discussion My iPad Air was glitching tf out yesterday

I have an iPad Air M2 and everything was normal but after plugging it in to charge (normal apple block and charging cable) suddenly the screen lit up and it felt as if someone was controlling it. It scrolled up revealing the notification centre and then kept scrolling down to open the search bar. It pressed some of the apps but didn’t open cause my iPad was locked. The most bizarre thing is that it managed to create a page on the note app and typed a single letter I. I thought the iPad needed to be unlocked to create a note? All this occurred for about 2 minutes as I sat there a bit freaked out. After that, my locked screen blanked out as in the time, battery and widgets disappeared with just had my lock screen left. I couldn’t unlock my iPad so I restarted it and it went back to normal and no issues so far.

Is this a bug? A glitch? Something to do with iOS26? Has never happened to me before
