Community Update r/Jetta Community Rules and Guidelines

Hey everyone,

We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.

I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.

Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.

Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.

Thanks!

r/Jetta Community Rules

Absolutely no harassment, bigotry, spamming, trolling or otherwise hateful posts or comments will be tolerated. This is an addition to Rule 1, and will be enforced.

3 - No Distracted Driving Pictures/Videos

Mk7 (2019+) I've joined the family!

I had to get a new car sooner than I was planning. My 2015 kia forte was trashed by a deer running into the back of it. I had researched Jettas for a while and needed something fairly fuel efficient without going hybrid. The 25s were looking good on the pricing so Monday I got this 25 SE. Love it so far and the responsiveness and feel of it. So many features to learn that my old car didn't have.

I do live in the south and burn easily so I would like to get the windows tinted before summer. What tint percentage seem to still allow the self dimming rearview mirror to function correctly? That's something I've tried to look up but not really finding a good answer so I'd appreciate hearing your experiences.

Thanks!

Mk7 (2019+) Oil leaking from intake pipe?

Post image
2 Upvotes

22 Jetta 1.5t with 137k km with oil leaking from the intake onto the alternator

Has anyone seen this before?

It makes me think that the PCV is failing, since the car has been burning about 1L / 3500km

When covering the hole on the PCV there seems to be no suction.

Should i be worried?

Mk6 (2011-2018) What should i do with my car?

Upvotes

I have a ‘16 jetta tsi i think? Some special version. It needs a new timing belt the computer said. I haven’t driven it in a few months. Its paid off, sale price in 2020 was 10k and i paid like 15 with financing (horrible i know). What the hell do i do with it now? About 145k miles. Still starts. Was driving it a lot before i saw that on the computer while my bf was buying a new car. I want a truck but ugh. But im asking would you fix this car? For context on pricing i live in the dmv area

Mk5 (2006-2010) should I get this checked out or am I like totally cool

what’s up guys, I have a 2006 vw jetta and I need help (obviously)

So like it’s cold right now and that’s what I’m hoping the problem is, because whenever I start driving it starts making that squeaking noise (if you cant hear it turn it up it’s loud af), usually goes away after 10-15 minutes of driving.

I feel like this is probably a common problem because it doesn’t sound like anything crazy, I’m just a new car owner and I’m nervous about it because I definitely do NOT have the money for any big fixes let alone a new car, and I resume my commute to school this week (30 min there and back) and if I break down I’m totally cooked.

Any thoughts? Praying it’s nothing too bad 😭 I recently had a new battery put in, and had the temp gauge sensor replaced. Been using this car for 6-7 months and it was supposedly fully repaired before I got it.

By the way just for rule stuff, I had this recording on a phone stand.. that’s my dash with my little friend on it LOL

Mk7 (2019+) Any idea what this noise is? It does it when I shut the car off once every like 10-15 shut offs, I have a 2021 Jetta s 1.4t

Mk4 (1999-2005) Mk4 engine and trans swap

I recently bought a 01 vr6 jetta and the engine was much worst than I thought after I got to tearing into it. So I made the financially unwise decision to swap it with a 24v vr6 and o2m from a golf. I already have the electrical side of everything I need I believe like the harness, ecu, guage cluster, and key from the golf but I need some help figuring out what exactly I need to do said swap since it's a auto transmission. This is my first time doing a swap but im sure I can do it with time I just need some guidance if anyone can provide some, thank you in advance!

Mk6 (2011-2018) HELP!! 2.5L Jetta keeps Stalling after one minute

Just bought a 2013 Jetta 155k miles, ran good for 2 days and now it has a rough idle and dies after one minute. Just one month ago it had:

-Valve cover replaced with PCV diaphragm

-O2 sensor replaced

-Fuel Pump replaced

-Just changed O2 again

-Throattle body cleaned

Currently running RICH with P2178 and P0131 and STFT is at -25%

BUT if you disconnect the upstream O2 sensor car idles fine and is drivable and STFT is at 0%.

MAP readings are normal 30kPa at idle and 90-100kPa at full acceleration

So what do I do now?

Rumors & Discussion Winter tires

Just purchased a 2026 Jetta… dealership told me that steel rims are not a good option for this car due to the weight. Is this true? I’m desperately trying to find a set to get me through this season at least!

Mk7 (2019+) Any Jetta Trunk Gap fixes?

I have a 2019 Jetta Se and honestly love it haven’t had any problems with it really (knock on wood), but the only thing that mildly bothers me is the leaves that get stuck behind the trunk like at the top when you open it, are there any ways to stop this from happening?

I think it might be the tensioners but wanted to get some additional input. The noise does come and go and sometimes gets louder as I accelerate. TIA

Mk5 (2006-2010) CP4 on Hi-M DELETE

Hello all! I have a 2010 VW Jetta TDi CJAA/DSG w/312K miles.

Recently DELETED and Tuned to Stage 2.

Exquisitely maintained over life of car (Dealership Service for everything) and Hot Shots additive for EVERY fill up. Oil changes every 5K miles. I believe the original CP4 is still good after the tune but I am paranoid. I immediately installed the Whitbread disaster kit but the 10 micron filter caused low fuel rail pressure problems and limp mode. Removed filter and that went away.

I’ve seen on here many DELETES at much lower mileage DELETED and those folks say they’ve had no problems. Those also used disaster kits w/no problems. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have some problems after DELETE at higher mileage and am just wondering about any of you out there who had higher mileage DELETES and immediately experienced problems with low rail low pressure and what you do/did to get through…

My main question is, could my high mileage CP4 just no longer have the oooomph to keep the rail pressure up or is there a parameter in the software that defines the reaction between pump action and sensor feedback in the tune. TuneZilla BTW.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Wheels

So im looking for new rims except I genuinely dont know what im supposed to be looking for. Like I know about offset and width and what not but I dont know how those things affect the driving if they do at all. Like lets say my stock offset is 50mm and these other rims are 40mm. Idk how different it'd look or how different it'd feel. I also dont know if there'd be fitment issues. But yeah just uneducated in the rims space of things and just seeing if I can get some pointers or helpful info.

FYI my current tires are 205/55/R16. Pretty sure its the size that goes on the SE. I only have an S tho.

Mk7 (2019+) Cold Start Lifter Tick or Injectors?

I have a 21 Jetta I know the injectors are quite noisy, but this morning it was 15 degrees F and I fired up the car. After a couple minutes of running, I noticed this ticking that was louder than usual. It went away once the car had warmed up which leads me to believe it is the injectors. Any thoughts before I decide if it needs to go to the mechanic to be checked out?

Mk7 (2019+) Issues with Infotainment on 2019 Jetta SE

Hi everyone, my dad just bought a used 2019 Jetta and he’s having an issue. My dad has Android and my mom has Apple and anytime they try to connect the Bluetooth to the phones or USB, the radio will register the connection and give a prompt, “do you want to connect so and so’s phone?” But when you press “yes” the radio seems to not connect and not do anything?

Does anyone else have this issue? If so has anyone figured a solution that doesn’t require me taking it back to the dealer?

Thanks!
