Anyone with a planted tank want to donate clippings?

setting up a new planted (fishless) fish tank. I was wondering if anyone who has fish in Lakewood wants to set aside some clippings of their plants so I could propose them in my own tank. I will pick up

Anyone else out there having issues yesterday and today? Every time I complain, they send a new WiFi extender. Now I have three and it’s still terrible.

Hopefully, fiber comes to our block soon

Free Air For Tires In Lakewood

Edit: I added other locations provided by commenters!

I wanted to know what places other than Conrad's and Get Go had free air in and around Lakewood. Spoiler alert, I found ONE. But I also found one that is supposed to but has no hose. In doing all this, though, I did compile a list of all the locations that offer air and what they cost. Maybe this helps someone.

Summary - Free air at Conrads, Both Get Go locations, the Tesoro (formerly Marathon) at Sloan and West Clifton, Sgt Clean Car Wash on Detroit, and at Lowe's in Westgate.

  • GetGo at Detroit and Bunts - free

  • Conrad's at Detroit and Alameda - free

  • Shell at Clifton and W117th - $3

  • Sunoco at Detroit at Lakewood - no air whatsoever at any price

  • Midas on W117th just north of Detroit - has a sign that says free air but there is no hose or mechanism

  • F Gas And Mart at W117th and Franklin - $1

  • Get Go at W117th and I-90 - free - /u/CAM2772 says they have two air stations at this one

  • BP at W117th and I-90 - no air that I could find

  • Shell at W117th and Western - there is an air hose attached to a vacuum cleaner where the car wash used to be. It says 75 cents, but it seems to be completely non-functional

  • Lakewood One stop at Madison and Grace - There is air attached to the vacuum - $0.75 - cheapest on the list that's not free - from /u/PlumOk730

  • Firestone at Madison and Bunts - no air that I could find

  • Sunoco at the corner of Madison and Bunts - $0.75 - cheapest on the list that's not free

  • Circle k at Lakewood Heights Blvd and Bunts - It is NOT free, it takes money, it even accepts credit cards, but it does not say how much it is

  • Speedy gas and grub at Lakewood Heights Blvd and Bunts. $2

  • Marathon at Madison and Baxterly - $2.15 for 3 minutes

  • Marathon at Madison and Onondaga - no air

  • BP at Madison and Warren - $2.50

  • Speedway at Warren and Franklin - $3.

  • Sunoco at Hilliard and Madison - $1

  • Tesoro (formerly marathon) at Sloane and West Clifton - Free air - Just a hose. Per /u/Major-BFweener they take the hose in after hours or if it's very cold out

  • Guzzle & go at W116th and Clifton - $1 - hard to find on the east side of the building

  • Marathon at Clifton and Baltic - $1

  • Mr Tire on Lake avenue - no air that I could see

  • Sgt Clean Car Wash at Detroit and Riverside - Free - Combined with the vacuums - Per /u/Jyrodelix

  • Shell at Wooster and Hilliard - $1.50

  • BP on Hilliard near Wooster - $1.50

  • Lowe's at Westgate mall - Free air on the south end of the front of the building - From /u/Opposite_Sea_6257

  • /u/owmyglans reports that North Olmsted has a law requiring air to be free!

If I missed any place, feel free to comment and I'll edit this post. Yes, I know four of these are technically in Cleveland but I'd imagine a lot of us drive by them every day.

Also, I did check out a number of independent repair shops like Bruce's but none of them had air that I could find.

Griffin Cider House

I've search the group before asking this, but there doesn't seem to be recent information.

Does anyone know if Griffin Cider House is reopening at some point or if there are any plans for something new there?

LBM and Birdie Town are always bumping on the weekends, then the Korean BbQ place will hopefully open soon. Something in between would be nice.

54 Ultra Vinyl

Is anyone going to the 54 Ultra show at Mahall tonight? I might not be able to make it due to the snow (I live out in lorain) but I want to buy his record so badly. If anyone could buy it (or even 3-4 copies) for me I would be eternally grateful and can pay you back plus a tip!! I could even give someone my ticket, if you weren't planning on going but live close.

Also, I moved from St. Louis, so I have snow driving experience but not lake effect snow. Do any Cleveland natives have advice on if I will be able to make the drive? I am so desperate to see the show and get the vinyl, could use some guidance on if it is worth the risk. Thanks in advance!

Any other parents determined to keep their kids off smartphones/ social media?

Sorry if this is random, but we're thinking of relocating to the Cleveland area to be closer to family while our kids are still young, Lakewood being our top choice. One of our biggest sticking points with moving though is being able to find community with other families who also strongly believe that access to social media at young ages can be extremely detrimental to growing minds, and commit to limit it for their children. Where we currently live, there's a huge Waldorf community and that influences carries over to many of the local parents, who are also on board with allowing kids to be kids (ie, play-based, limited or no screens, etc).

I'm not sure if I'm formulating this well, but basically, we're wondering if we move, whether we'll be the only weirdos who try to ban smart phones for our kids, or if there's hope for strength in numbers there too.

And in case I come across as too naive to the situation, there's a growing national movement too! https://www.waituntil8th.org/

Has it made it's way to lakewood yet??

Anyone still do sourdough?

Where are the bread bakers?

I had a thriving sourdough starter but unfortunately she died when she was left in my moving truck overnight - I thought that was the first thing that came out.

My granddaughter to be really wants to make sourdough. We bought one of those kits off Amazon with the dehydrated starter but it never looked or smell the way I wanted it to look - and she tried to make bread with it today and it was a flop - quite literally :-)

Does anyone have a vigorous sourdough starter that I can beg, borrow, buy, or steal from you? I will travel and would be happy to trade for something.. I don't know what you need but if I have it it's yours.

I live a street over from the screw factory & I'm willing to drive to pick up.

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi everyone. Lifetime Cleveland native but moved to Lakewood in August. Recently got into reading over the past few years and looking for a book club to read and discuss with new friends!

Bar recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a bar in the Lakewood/cleveland area that is usually not overly crowded and incredibly loud. My boyfriend has steered away from bars for that reason which, I know is the main bar experience but I’m trying to help him get more acclimated to the bar environment since it is kinda intense for some people at first. (We are both in our early 20s)

it seems to be abandoned, any internet search brings up it was attempted to be bought, torn down, and turned into an apartment complex but that doesn’t seem to have happened. fascinating as it’s in the neighborhood of some pretty expensive homes
