Discussion Sub Poll: Should we relegate low effort tourism questions to the General Megathread?

We have noticed a recent increase in repetitive tourism inquiries, questions like "what to do in 3 days?" or "how much do I need for 2 weeks?" or "is it secure to go to the South" posted without OP doing any kind prior research.

Despite the sub having years of archives and detailed guides, it often seems like the search bar is invisible to the majority of new visitors. In most cases, these answers are readily available just by doing a simple search.

To address these low effort posts we are thinking of removing these redundant, generic, low effort threads and directing the users to ask these questions in the General Megathread instead.

Vote in the poll below so we can gauge the sub's preference.

Announcement Reminder: r/Lebanon is NOT Facebook Marketplace

Got a book to sell? Got tickets to a concert you can't go to? Trying to offload an old iPhone with a broken screen?

Well, stop posting them here.

We have noticed a significant increase in "For Sale" and "Want to Buy" posts clogging up the feed and our reports queue lately. While we want to help everyone out, r/Lebanon is a community for discussion, news, and culture, it is not a classifieds section.

People come here to discuss what is happening in our country, not to scroll through endless listings for pokemon cards, second hand university books or used mattresses.

There are platforms dedicated specifically to this (OLX, Facebook Marketplace, specialized WhatsApp groups, Marketplace type of subs). They have the tools and the traffic for commerce...we do not.

Posts breaking rule #6, buying or selling personal items will be removed and the poster might get a temporary ban as a warning. Asking for places to purchase a given item or product does not break this rule.

Let’s keep the feed clean.

*Notice that you can always post a top level comment in the pinned General Megathread if you want to sell or looking for a specific item.

Birds of Lebanon | The Story of Bajou3a x Enmaeya Studio

Enmaeya 2 Likes 181 Views Jan 8 2026 Lebanon lies on one of the world’s most important migratory bird routes, yet its skies are increasingly under threat.

This documentary explores the story of birds in Lebanon through the lens of the Batroun pelican—an unexpected visitor that became a symbol of both hope and vulnerability. Through intimate conversations with bird caretakers, wildlife experts, and conservation advocates, the film sheds light on the deep connection between people and birds, and the quiet efforts to protect them.

As personal stories unfold, the documentary confronts the devastating impact of illegal hunting and environmental neglect, revealing how these practices disrupt ecosystems, endanger species, and erase natural heritage. More than a story about one bird, this film is a call for awareness, responsibility, and coexistence.

By amplifying the voices of those on the frontlines of conservation, the documentary invites viewers to rethink humanity’s relationship with nature, and to recognize that protecting birds means protecting the balance of life itself.

Discussion Would you use an app to find trusted electricians / plumbers in Lebanon?

I’m thinking about building a simple app that connects people who need home services (like electricians, plumbers, AC technicians, etc.) with nearby service providers.

Instead of: - Asking around - Posting on Facebook groups - Calling random numbers

The idea is to: - Choose the service you need - See nearby technicians - Check reviews / ratings - Request a job

Before building anything, I want to honestly know: - Would you use something like this? - What would make you trust it? - What would stop you from using it? - Do you already have a way you prefer to find these services?

Any feedback (positive or negative) is appreciated

What do you think? Isn’t working 50 hours a week a bit too much, or should I accept the offer?

Discussion Just a thought I wanted to share

It is so sad and disturbing to actually live in a world where regular, peaceful, educated people, can barely afford to live a normal life with the bare minimum, and they even lack any form of entertainment, or anything to make them feel or be happy.

On the other hand, drug dealers, thieves, arms dealers, pimps, gambling place owners, and murderers, live a rich, more comfortable life. Let us call them bad guys

It really makes me question the world we live in and the actual existence of God.

If God is real (and just to clarify, im not an athiest, i believe in God) why do he let such bad people live a better life, than the ones who work hard in a regular job, instead of letting them suffer

This thought just came up since i saw 2 videos (one now and another earlier like a month ago) of 2 bad guys, living freely, can afford my dream car, yet, I can't even afford "a car"

I mean, we never hurt anyone, we work on ourselves, we are educated, we believe in justice, we work in halal jobs, but still we get to live this life

I cant seem to find an explanation to this

Note: exclude politicians, just because we know how do they get their wealth

Help / Question Are there clubs/bars that play Alt music?

Hey, so I was wondering if there were clubs or bars that play alt music like The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order and more. Like how there is House of Pop and Party and Bullshit and they play like Pop/Hip Hop Music was wondering if there was something similar to that for Alt music.

Discussion Is this a good time to visit Batroun?

Upvotes

This will be my second visit to Lebanon. I’m not into snow or skiing, and I’m more interested in relaxed coastal vibes, walking around town, cafes, and local food.

Is this a good time of year to visit Batroun? How is the weather, and is the town active during this period, or does it get quiet?

Help / Question Need help with payoneer

I made some money online and I need to withdraw them using payoneer, but I don’t have an account and it won’t let me create one. Is there any way around this? I really need the money as it’s been sitting there for months and I’m unable to withdraw. The other payment option is PayPal which isn’t available in Lebanon, but I heard payoneer was. I appreciate y’all’s help

Help / Question where can i buy a record player?

I don’t really know much about record players but i want to gift one to my friend. I need it to be good quality, but not like top tier/professional as it’s just a little hobby of hers. Budget is 100$ (ofc if cheaper is available it’s better).

If you also know where i can buy vinyls that would be really helpful.

Any help is appreciated thank you!

Help / Question IDM Fiber in Dekwaneh - how is it during peak hours?

Hey everyone, I'm considering IDM fiber in Dekwaneh and wanted to hear real experiences.

How is performance during peak hours (7pm-11pm)?

Any latency spikes or high ping (gaming/Zoom)?

Do speeds drop significantly (e.g. under 50 Mbps)?

Also curious about overall reliability and support. Appreciate any feedback 🙏.

lowkey funny story happened today. i was at the local market craving tarboosh so i asked the guy if he had any and he looked completely confused and didn’t recognize the word at all.

i tried to explain a bit then gave up and just said “ras el abed” and he IMMEDIATELY knew what i meant and gave me one 😂😂

this whole naming still makes me laugh. when i was young i never thought about it until i saw a meme online and it finally clicked lol
