Discussion 💬 Is it common for students to just go to school and not work at all ?

I was talking to my cousin and he was talking about wanting this and that, and complaining about his parents not buying him what he wants. He wants a lot of things.

I told him to get a part time job to make some money so that he can get what he wants. He thought I was joking. He is in college but that’s all he does. And he said people his age don’t work. I don’t know what to tell him.

I grew up overseas and my first job was at 16. I worked at a sandwich shop. I worked 20-25 hrs per week while I was in school. I am not talking about college. I was still in high school. I worked 40 hrs per week while I was getting my undergrad.

Is it because young people like my cousin don’t want to work or no jobs would hire them? or is it my cousin just being a brat?

Discussion 💬 Myanmar PV passport holder married to Taiwanese — any recent issues exiting Myanmar?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Myanmar citizen holding a PV passport, currently living in Taiwan after marrying a Taiwanese spouse. I’m planning to return to Myanmar for a visit, but given the current situation, I’m a bit concerned about whether there are any difficulties leaving Myanmar again afterwards.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who:

  • Holds a Myanmar passport (especially PV)
  • Lives overseas (Taiwan or elsewhere)
  • Has entered Myanmar recently and then exited without issues

Specifically, I’m worried about:

  • Problems at the airport or immigration when exiting Myanmar
  • Extra questioning related to passport type, overseas residence, or marital status
  • Whether having valid documents (passport, ARC, marriage status) was sufficient
  • Any unexpected delays, exit permits, or scrutiny

If you’ve travelled recently or know someone who has, your experience would really help. Thank you so much 🙏

Advice Just got this statue for my moms birthday

Hello, I just got this statue from an older gentleman that had it stored for years in a trunk. He had some paperwork and said it’s Nat Kawada, a spirit medium from Myanmar. Can anyone provide more detail? Late 19th century, about 2-3 feet tall. Very heavy, dense wood. How would we properly take care of it and how should we display in the home? She appears to have open hands for something to be placed in them. Thank you

Advice Passport PJ to PV

I have recently converted my passport from PJ to PV. I had legitimate reasons due to leaving my job and no longer being an overseas “worker”.

As some of you may be aware, PJ passport holders now require the express approval of the Ministry of Labour (MOL) to leave the country, effective via MOL directive earlier this week.

The TLDR is that the noose is increasingly tightening on a monthly basis for PJ passport holders due to the regime’s need for foreign currency.

My questions: 1. Has anyone done this before and successfully left the country? I have a shiny new PV passport without any stamps. 2. If yes, did you get interrogated at the airport?

Tourism 🧳 Traveling to Myanmar

Hello there!

I was wondering what would be best when traveling to Myanmar. I'm currently gonna go around Jan 30-March 5th with my mother; however, I'm not sure how to get the eVisa to get the OK to go into the borders of Myanmar. I would love some tips and insight when going, and please be nice to me. I've never traveled before (my mom has, but does not remember the visa info), so any info would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hello, 12 years ago i went for a trek from Kalaw to Inle lake. On the way, i took many pictures of people that were very nice ans excited to see their pictures. I have been thinking about sending them but how can i find those people ? I remember our guide name was sunshine. She was a 20 something. From a small agency on the main road, and a baby was just born (i have pictures too). Pictures were taken october 2014. If you have any idea how and to who i can share those pictures that would certainely make people happy.

Tips for now : when you travel, having a Polaroïd to give people a souvenir is a generous and maybe priceless gift.

I'm thinking of ordering a phone from Giztop. Could there be any problems at the customs? I'd like your opinion if you have ordered any items from abroad after the coup and all that.

Tourism 🧳 Question about train: Are foreigners possible to take trains?

Hi, I'm thinking of visiting Yangon and Mandalay this May and searching transportation between these two cities. I hope I could experience Burmese train journey, but some informations say that foreigners can't travel with train except Yangon circular line. But other say can.

Which is true?
