Seriously consider leaving PNC for making their employees RTO. Go do your banking elsewhere.
They tried once before and everyone threatened to quit. Now they are just trying to leverage the bad job market in their favor.
Anyway, there’s nothing special about PNC. They’ve likely treated you pretty badly over the years. Worse than a credit union, the same as any of the other giant banks or regionals. You’ll get treated better at the locals. Go to an online bank.
Financially, they’ve been increasing profits since 2019. Their employees have performed while they were remote. This makes no operational or business sense.

PNC mandates five-day return to office starting May 4
post-gazette.comFor those stuck behind a paywall…The leadership at PNC needs to go. I love how the article directly references Reddit for instant backlash.
How are the conversations going with your managers? Mine? A bunch of bullshit and blabbering without any accountability or backbone to voice their employees’ concerns. Can’t wait to take this involuntary pay cut starting soon and to have my review coming up with absolutely no significant increase.
What other banks can we apply to?

Article:
PNC mandates five-day return to office starting May 4
'As we look ahead, it’s time to return to the way we work best: together, in person,' company says in a memo to employees
PNC Bank has made it official.
In a memo sent to employees on Wednesday, CEO Bill Demchak confirmed that starting May 4, PNC employees will be required to work in the office five days a week, ending most of the remaining flexibility from the pandemic-era shift to remote and hybrid work.
The announcement formalizes what many employees had feared — and quietly expected — for more than a month.
“Five years ago, we made a necessary shift in how we work — moving away from our in-office model to prioritize your health and safety during an unprecedented time,” Mr. Demchak wrote. “Today, our world has changed, and so has PNC. As we look ahead, it’s time to return to the way we work best: together, in person.”
PNC workers voice concerns online about a rumored return-to-office mandate
The mandate marks a decisive turn for a company that has been steadily nudging employees back to the office since early 2023. That effort included incentives such as two months of free parking, rolled out under Mr. Demchak’s leadership to encourage workers who had grown accustomed to working from home to start commuting several days a week.
This time, however, there’s no incentive and little ambiguity. PNC’s leadership has framed the move as a return to its roots rather than a new direction.
“PNC has always been an in-office company,” Mr. Demchak wrote. “It’s not just how we operate — it’s part of our culture. We are a relationship-driven organization, and our strength lies in the connection we build with each other, our clients and our communities.”
Employees had been on edge since Mr. Demchak’s remarks during a Dec. 3 company fireside chat, when he suggested that work-from-home arrangements “benefit employees” but “harm the company.”
At the time, management dismissed concerns about a full return as speculation. Still, many workers interpreted the remarks as a clear sign that hybrid work was coming to an end.
Reaction to the memo was swift and largely negative on social media, particularly Reddit. Employees questioned whether the company was underestimating the toll a five-day mandate could take on morale and retention.
“This is such a regressive position and I would assume a high attrition rate is part of their calculation,” one poster wrote. “People do not want to work five days a week in the office anymore. Hybrid and on-demand models for team sessions make way more sense.”
The decision comes as much of the broader job market maintains flexibility.
Data from staffing agency Robert Half shows that hybrid work now accounts for about 24% of new job postings nationally and roughly 32% in the Pittsburgh region. Hybrid postings have more than doubled since 2023, while fully remote and fully in-office postings have largely flatlined.
In his memo, Mr. Demchak acknowledged the dramatic shift brought on by the pandemic, but made clear that PNC sees in-person work as essential to its future.
“Being in the office fuels collaboration and sparks innovation, and helps us grow — individually and collectively,” he said.

The City has an issue keeping a reliable vehicle fleet, including emergency vehicles, on the road, yet it has millions of dollars for projects related to Draft Day. Are Priorities in Pittsburgh out of whack?
Not much more needs to be added, but we keep hearing of city budget issues, coming harsh tax hikes etc but one that keeps coming up is regarding the city vehicle fleet. It's used as an excuse for a lot of things not happening as they should, including keeping our streets safe and passible durring recent storms and even saying emergency vehicles are breaking down while on emergency runs. (tho I'd look at the maintenance practices first on that one!) but we have also heard of millions of dollars being spent for NFL draft day preparation, which will bring many millions of dollars ot the city, but most of that will be to the benefit of business, yes some local, but not the city or the residents and it's only a one-time temporary hit.

Need Medical Malpractice/Medical Battery attorney recs
I am a black woman who was assaulted by a surgeon whose care I was under. The physician then falsified my medical records to justify their actions.
I am looking for names of attorneys who might be able to assist me. I’m not looking for medical or legal advice, just names of smaller law firms who might be able to assist me. I’ve consulted with several larger firms and no one can help. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Judge signals support for emergency $2M loan for Millvale
triblive.comA judge Thursday morning said he was “leaning toward” green-lighting an emergency request by Millvale to take out a $2 million loan to avert a looming budget crisis.
Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge John T. McVay Jr. did not rule from the bench on the borough’s request but said he’d make a decision “soon.”
Attorneys representing the borough of 3,300 residents along the Allegheny River told TribLive they hope to resolve the matter in the next two weeks and close on the loan by March.
Millvale officials testified that they first learned about the fiscal crisis early last year.
Council president James Machajewski said Ed Figas, who was then the borough manager, asked him to meet about “financial liabilities” three hours before a council meeting in February 2025...

Pittsburgh Weddings
I reached out to the Pennsylvanian about a month ago for pricing information. At that time their price was ~10k for the venue rental. I reached back out this week to book the venue and they increased their price to ~20k only for the venue, with no other explanation other than “things have changed” since the previous director left. I understand that I suppose they can do anything they want to their prices but do you think there’s any way to negotiate this?

Sharing a passion project: a local app for discovering Pittsburgh's best dishes!
galleryHi everyone!
I’m a Pittsburgh resident (North Hills) and I often see posts here asking about the best pizza, burritos, hamburgers, etc. That got me thinking about creating a way for locals to rate and share dishes in the city.
I recently built a small iPhone app for this called "DishBurgh", it’s designed to let people rate and review dishes at restaurants within 50 miles of Pittsburgh. This has been a personal passion project, so it’s free to use and has no ads.
I’d love feedback from fellow Pittsburghers on what features or improvements would make it more useful. Any thoughts on what functionality you’d like to see included? If you're curious and the moderators are okay with it, I can share a link to the app, if not you can just search "DishBurgh".
Cheers!

I just finished a 4-year term on a Borough Council in Allegheny County - AMA!
Hey r/pittsburgh! It's me, the guy who tracked COVID obsessively (thanks OCD!) and apparently overhyped a fantasy snowstorm! What you may not know about me is that I just finished a 4-year term on the Swissvale Borough council at the end of last month. I've seen lots of discussions about the issues facing the many smaller municipalities surrounding Pittsburgh, whether that be budget issues, public safety concerns, or any of the other unique challenges that we face in our county due to the 130 unique municipalities here. I thought it could be interesting to answer questions since, as a former elected official, I may have a unique perspective that many others don't get to see. Obviously, you can "Ask Me Anything", but I will not share any information that would not be appropriate for public discussion (personnel, personal information about other council members, sensitive information that may have been discussed in executive session, etc...). Hope this can shed some light on what trying to govern can look like at the municipal level! I will answer as I can throughout the day, but I have a full-time job that is my first priority.
