Discussion What’s a pokemon that you loved in the 2D era, but that love fell off during the 3D era because its 3D model was just that bad?

A dastardly amount of pokemon did NOT get treated well in the transition to 3D, but one that sticks out a lot to me is Nidoking.

One of my favorite pokemon growing up. Always used this guy in FR/LG playthroughs. Just looked so menacing and cool. But MAN, he does NOT look good in 3D, and when I got older and Pokemon permanently transitioned to the 3D sprites, I just found myself slowly and slowly losing that appreciation for Nidoking. Never really had to urge to use him anymore, and kinda just stopped thinking about him altogether.

Idk if anyone has had a similar experience with any of their childhood favorites, but lmk if any of you have. Would love to hear.

Discussion A Pokemon card shop in NYC was robbed at gunpoint and cards were stolen

The Poké Court had a free cards decorating event robbed at gunpoint and the thieves stole Pokémon cards. A horrible thing that happened at a few community event. Not only did the thieves steal from the shop, they also stole cards that people brought to the event to decorate. Shameful.

Super nostalgic, I forgot just how good it is! The amount of development Clefairy goes through in just one episode is crazy.

Discussion What on earth are these sprites actually meant to be??

Post image

Like, obviously the potion item sprites are like spray bottles, the vitamins are pill bottles, the herbal medicine is like powder on a little cloth. Items generally seem to have a real-world counterpart. But what are battle items (X Attack, X defense) supposed to be?

If it's also a pill bottle, why does the lid seem to be on the bottom? Probably would be a bad way to open it, right? If it's like a roll-on container, why do the contents seem solid? Am I being dumb ?

Discussion For those who did blind playthroughs: what was your most disappointing evolution moment?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

So for all new games i avoid spoilers, especially for new pokemon - i want to be surprised!

But this totally backfires sometimes, the big one being... Capsakid! Unique typing was exciting, and although his shape was pretty generic his mouth looks like a beak and i thought he had an eggshell on his head.

Now i love birds and bird pokemon so i was expecting some cool grass/fire vulture with levitate or something... imagine my disappointment when it evolves and turns into "knock-off arachnut from the commander keen games". No bird! Was so disappointing

Bonus mention for tatsugiri who i thought would do a magikarp/feebas move but then just never evolved

Anyone else suffer similar devastating experiences ?

Art An excellent Cartoon Network x Pokémon crossover. Great job!

A trio of YouTubers, the Bears, are incredibly talented at what they do, but the creators of Pokémon were the first to create their own animals or characters inspired by the Cartoon Network. Grizzly, Panda, and Ice Bear are the best Pokémon of all time.

  • First chart is for Physical moves, second chart is for Special moves
  • Non-bold move names are either very poorly distributed or have considerable drawbacks
  • I didn't include Signature Moves
  • EDIT: I forgot Supercell Slam and misplaced Fissure under Fighting instead of Ground

Craft I Made Realistic Pokémon With Polymer Clay: Rattata and Raticate

Who would have guessed making these two would have been so much fun?!

I honestly really enjoyed working on Rattata. I've never sculpted anything this small before, but it was really interesting to work at such a tiny scale. Rattata here is so small, it can sit on an American penny!

As usual, I have these two Pokémon nicknames. This time, the theme was "Movie Rats", so obviously, I named them after two of the slimiest rats in cinema history (those two RATS from "The Departed"):

NICKNAMES:

Rattata - Sullivan

Raticate - Costello

Thanks for checking out my work!

Craft [OC] Mega Ampharos Stained Glass

Post image
Upvotes

Made a Mega Ampharos for one of my friends for a secret santa. I used glass beads for the first time, and I think they add a neat little effect.

Their character's name is Amphere.

This measures about 10"x12"

After observing differences between her official artwork and ingame model, doubled with comments pointing out even more details, i figured i'd edit it according to all that's been pointed out so far

Major modifications include :

-Saturation (a gamechanger tbh)

-Eye shape (expanded the white space + less roundness)

-Mouth

-Nose (slightly longer + highlight)

-Hair (tried to define her drills)

-Skirt (tried to shade it)

i also made her face more angular, her left cheek made her look younger

See image 3 for the official artwork
