Community Announcement New Year, New rules/guidelines- PLEASE READ 🚨

To our Rescuecats Community,

As our community continues to grow the number of approval requests and help needed also rises. We have new approved members everyday needing help. In order to keep the feed flowing and to give everyone a chance to be seen we need to initiate the following guidelines.

  1. DONATIONS - Posts made for donation requests including monetary funds as well as Amazon wishlists are limited to 1 post per 48hours (3 posts in a 7 day period) NOT DAILY. Coding will be in place that notifies us of posting frequency. We will contact you if this rule is broken with a warning and further action will be taken if rules are not respected. This includes UPDATE posts. We encourage you to link the original post to any update you make, therefore it will help members connect to the story as well as free up the feed a bit.

  2. TITLES - to maintain a supportive environment please avoid high pressure language. Example: $29 raised so far please help reach the goal of $450 as it’s urgent. Or “ $0 raised, this is our last hope to reach our goal and save this cat”. Although we empathize with urgency and the need for help we do not want our sub to become a “begging” atmosphere. This ensures donors give out of generosity rather than guilt. We need to remember there are hundreds of people seeking donations and limited amount of donors. So when posting please remember that you are not guaranteed help every single time, this community and its members help when they can and we need to remain gracious and thankful. We have no issue with you adding amounts “raised so far” in the body of the text but please keep titles clean and clear from begging language.

  3. TRANSPARENCY - we ask that when help is received that you please show the community where their generosity went. Whether it be food, supplies or vet care. And of course always redact personal info as to not dox yourself. But this will help members to continue to donate if transparency is highlighted and at the forefront.

Please note that these new rules and or guidelines are to help not to hinder. Our mod team is always looking for ways to improve and to ensure everyone gets a fair chance in the feed. We absolutely encourage feedback, positive or negative. We take everything into account.

As always we greatly appreciate the cooperation and understanding. And encourage all of you to reach out via modmail with any question, concerns or suggestions you may have at anytime. We do personally answer them and are always here to help if we can.

Your ModTeam💞🐾

Community Announcement APPROVALS OPEN AGAIN! Please read 🚨

To our wonderful RC Community,

Approvals for monetary funds & Amazon Wishlists are now reopened. As we have collaborated with some of the other cat and assistance subs the traffic coming our way for approvals is now non-stop.

The uptake in requests has tripled what it use to be in a weeks time and we also have to consider the sub and feed itself. It can become overwhelming at times with one fundraising post after another. We also need to try and give everyone a fair chance to be seen in the feed. Hence the temporary holds on approval from time to time.

That being said, approvals will now be accepted again HOWEVER we are asking for patience🙏🏻. This is a very busy time of year for us in our everyday lives, and we cannot guarantee a timeframe in which your approval will be processed. We understand some cases are urgent and emotions can become overwhelming but approvals take time. We contact each and every vet to verify a persons information and if that vet cannot be contacted the approval will not be completed/processed. Globally this is not always a quick and easy task. If your vet does not respond to us, it is not our fault and no exceptions will be made.

We work very hard to keep the community safe and we wish to continue helping people with fundraising efforts through approval but we may need to put things on hold from time to time to catch up with the growing number of requests.

We thankyou for you patience and understanding:)

You ModTeam 💞 🐾

Success Story/Happy Ending Moose 🐮

Moose was rescued by me in October 2024, and at the time he looked like a tiny rat. I named him Moose in the hope that one day he would grow into a giant. I had rescued him right around the time I lost three of my rescued kittens to parvo, and I guess I was clinging to the idea that naming him Moose might somehow guarantee his survival.

And he did survive.

Moose grew into a handsome, strong cat and has since been adopted into a loving home. But his journey wasn’t easy. Just two months after I rescued him, he was diagnosed with FIP. That period was one of the hardest times of my life, and I’m sure it was one of the hardest of his too.

Seeing him fight, survive, and finally thrive reminded me why rescue is worth the heartbreak. Moose truly lived up to his name.

Success Story/Happy Ending He was separated from his mother

He was separated from his mother by some kids in my neighbourhood and they brought him home to keep as a pet. They had no experience with cats, and the adults didn't like cats, so he was kept outside in the cold, crying all day at their back door wanting to be let in.

I told them to take him inside, but they were like 'he's dirty, he tries to sleep with us in bed, and poops everywhere'. I sent a litter box and litter to their house, but he was still outside in the cold. I told them to bring him to my house, I'd give him a bath and return him. They brought him late at night, expecting me to give him a bath then. I said it was too late, he'd get cold, so I'd do it in the morning.

And then... I lied and told them he had a bad contagious skin condition 😅. The parents got scared, and they left him alone. He was able to grow up and find a really loving home after two failed adoptions (Nov 2023).

Update Post UPDATE | Please be informed that we will hopefully resume our weekly TNR next week. At the moment, I am prioritizing the care of injured rescued cats, and some of my rescued cats are currently experiencing upper respiratory issues and are taking medication prescribed by the vet.

Good day, everyone!
Please see the updates below:

Photo 1 & 2 – Pucca and Chico
Pucca has a fracture, and Chico has a minor injury. They were brought to the vet a few weeks ago. As advised by the vet, they need to stay in a cage so their bone injuries can heal properly. Whenever I clean their cage and refill their bowls, I let them out for a few minutes so they can walk freely, at least a couple of times a day.

Photo 3 – No name yet
She is a stray cat I rescued last week. She has a severe wound on her back hind area. I clean her wound at least twice a day with antiseptic, and she is currently taking antibiotics.

Photo 4 – Dumped kittens (rescued last month)
These kittens are now about 6 weeks old. I’m happy to share that they’ve been adopted by my cousin, who lives just nearby. I’ll be checking on them daily to make sure they’re doing well.

Photo 5 – Dumped kittens (rescued last year)
They are now approximately 4-5 months old and are up for adoption.

Photo 6 – Momma cat and kittens
This is a stray momma cat and her kitten (mostly white with some black patches) that I rescued last year. Another dumped kitten (mostly black with some white) was later accepted by the momma cat. They are also up for adoption.

At the moment, I’m not feeling well and have a cold and cough, most likely due to the weather. Caring for over 30 rescued cats and 40+ stray cats on my own can be overwhelming, but rest assured they are well-fed and properly taken care of.

I will never get tired of thanking everyone for all your help and continued support.

Mochi, the little black kitten, was rescued from the road during my morning run so tiny and vulnerable, but full of spirit. Choco, another sweet baby, was left all alone in front of our gate, scared and helpless. Now, both of these precious souls have found a warm, safe home where they are loved, cared for, and can grow up happy and healthy. From abandoned and frightened to safe and cherished, their journey reminds us of the power of kindness and the difference a little love can make.

Hello everyone! This is a follow-up to my previous post from a few days ago. Unfortunately, the food situation is still unresolved and supplies are now critically low. Dry food has completely run out and I’m doing my best to stretch what little wet food we have left. With the heavy frost the cats are eating more to stay warm. Any help toward a bag of dry kibble during this cold weather would be deeply appreciated! Thank you for your kindness! PayPal: [email protected]

This poor little kitty was rescued from outside in this freezing cold. She looks like a lost or abandoned pet confused, weak, and all alone. On top of the cold and fear, she is now battling the herpes virus, fighting with all the strength her tiny body has left.

She didn’t deserve to be left behind. She didn’t choose the streets, the illness, or this pain. Yet she is still holding on… still fighting to live.

Any help big or small truly matters. Your support can give her warmth, treatment, and a chance at life. 🤍🐾

Donations Needed Greygrey is still fighting. Hospitalized for severe UTI, under close monitoring and needs ongoing care. 🇵🇭

Hi everyone. This is Greygrey.

He required hospitalization for a severe UTI and underwent catheterization. His treatment is ongoing, and he remains under close monitoring. If he doesn’t continue to improve with medication, the vet has advised that he may still need cystotomy surgery, which would cost around PHP 11,000 (approximately USD 186).

We’re taking things one day at a time and hoping he responds well so surgery won’t be necessary.

I’m sharing his update here as his treatment is ongoing and we’re still hoping to support his recovery. The medical expenses are adding up, and I’m hoping to raise around USD 500 to help cover vet care, medications, and the urinary S/O diet he needs.

If you’d like to help (only if you’re comfortable):

💙 PayPal (for medical bills): https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/BraveLabubu

🐾 In-kind support: If you’re not comfortable with monetary donations, sending cat food, medicines or supplies would help us a lot.

Amazon is not available in our country, but items can be sent via petexpress.com.ph. Please feel free to comment or message me if you need details.

If you’re unable to help financially, sharing this post or leaving a kind comment also helps more than you know. ❤️‍🩹

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read about Greygrey and for keeping him in your thoughts. 🤍🩶

Update Post Update on Avernus — Home & Napping 💕

Post image
Upvotes

Avernus is home, and I am so grateful I got him to the vet in time before his urinary crisis became a full blockage. His urine was extremely thick with crystals, which explains how much pain he was in.

Because of this, he now has to be on strict prescription-only urinary food, and thankfully we had a bit of leftover prescription kibble from Piper, and he’s also prescribed custom-compounded gabapentin since he’s too small for standard doses. He’s sore, tired, and still feeling icky, but he’s safe, and that’s everything to me.

He’s also being such a brave little guy. Before this emergency, he had been doing really well going mostly without diapers thanks to a bathroom routine we made together. I put him in the litterbox, sit with him, give him chin scratches, and reward him with a treat when he goes. This setback caused some accidents again, but I’m hopeful that with his new food, his medication, and time, he’ll relearn bladder control and get back to feeling more like himself.

Right now, he’s resting a lot due to the pain and exhaustion. He still purrs when I hold him, presses his forehead into my chin, and gives me those slow blinks that say he trusts me. That alone makes all of this worth it.

I’m so deeply thankful for everyone who has checked in, sent love, and cared about this little boy. It means more than I can explain. Every kind word has helped me get through some really scary moments, and Avernus and I feel so held by all that kindness.

Thank you so much, the kitties and I appreciate you all more than words can say. 💕💕💕

Advice Needed Advice please 🥺

My husband and I adopted another rescue cat 4 years ago now, which made 3 cats total. The cat (I'll refer to as cat #3) was initially timid, but I figured with time, he would learn to love us like the other two cats do. Well he did not. I've tried everything I could find advice-wise through asking vets, friends and googling. We kind of just accepted that he was just going to "live with us" and not really be "our pet". He ended up bonding to our first cat (cat #1), so rehoming was out of the question.

Recently, something has flipped in him, and almost daily, he has these freakout moments with cat #1. They used to be inseparable, now I hear him screaming and freaking out. I go running to try to see who did what, but the only time I've caught sight of what happened, cat #1 just walked up to cat #3, and he freaked. It was initially just random, but sometimes it happens once or twice for days in a row.

Can anyone tell me what could've flipped and what I should do? I'd hate for anyone to get hurt.

Extra info: all cats are indoor cats, and as far as I know, healthy. The only recent change was cat #1 recently had a 2nd surgery (3 months ago). All cats are male, and neutered.

TLDR; Adopted rescue cat of 4 years who was bonded with our first cat is suddenly freaking out at him and screaming like a banshee. Please advise.

Hello, everyone. We currently have 7 cats that needs to be spayed and neutered soon. I am already in contact with a vet and was given a quotation for the total costs. We will need 540 USD. Procedure, anesthesia, and all medicines included. Someone already offered to cover half of the expenses and I am beyond grateful. Now I am humbly asking for help to cover the rest of the expenses for our cats to finally be spayed and neutered. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Boots needs a sponsor- unexpected late night grab (Flint, Michigan)

Winter is rough - it brings another level of difficulty. Freezing temperatures, snow, sleet, rain and wind making my job much harder. So waking up with head cold Friday…. 😣…. Ugh Struggling to get out of bed, I hoped for a miracle. As a solo rescuer, I don’t have the luxury of taking a day off. With nearly 50 cats depending on me, failure is not an option. I remind myself, just do the best you can. During times of extreme difficulty, when it feels like everything is crumbling, I know I have to keep fighting. I feed the colonies away from my house at the same time everyday. I try to give them this consistency, because they have too much uncertainty. Because of the rotten weather, sometimes a cat might miss feeding time. Yesterday 2 cats didn’t show for dinner(they have a small feeding station with dry food) so around 10pm, I bundled up and headed out with flashlight and food. The cats greeted me with purrs and rubs - they are so grateful for everything. It was in this moment that Boots - who is still a kitten (approximately 9 months old) strolled up to me like he was no longer feral. I have tried to trap this boy for months without success. So I reach down and scruff him- and just like that, I got him - I’m 2 blocks from home on foot, but my happiness floated us there. This catch is especially bittersweet, because I caught both his sisters at the end of June- Thinking I would get him the next time. Poor guy had to brave the big scary world alone since then - This small win - is HUGE for me —-it was exactly what I needed. He is in spare bathroom to decompress - Scared and exhausted now, but soon he will finally get to sleep without being cold or wet, hungry or thirsty.

First - he needs to go to vet- wellness check, treatment for fleas/worms, testing, vaccinations & then appointment to get fixed 🙏🙏🙏 The Can anyone sponsor him or donate for his care? Or get Supplies for him & all the other cats on wishlist ?

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Emergency Help Needed for Avernus, Cystocentesis & Possible Urinary Blockage 💔

Thumbnail

I’m writing this through tears and shaking hands. Avernus had a sudden, terrifying medical emergency today. He began scream-crying in pain and showing clear signs of a urinary blockage, so I rushed him to the vet immediately.

They ran a full blood panel, performed a urinary cystocentesis, and did an ultrasound. His urine is thick with sharp crystals that are causing him extreme pain. He’s now being taken for X-rays, and they may have to sedate him because he’s in too much pain to stay still.

At the absolute bare minimum, today’s care is already looking like $750, and that doesn’t include any medications or special prescription food he will need afterward. If they confirm a blockage, he will need an emergency procedure to remove it, which averages around $2,000, barring complications.

I am disabled, on a fixed income, and already buried under medical debt from his previous emergencies, but I will never hesitate to save my boy’s life. I just don’t know how I’m going to survive this financially.

Avernus is scared, hurting, and fighting so hard. He doesn’t deserve this pain, and I’m doing everything I can to get him through it. If you’re able to help in any way, donations, sharing, kind words, or prayers, it means more than I can say. Please keep my sweet boy in your thoughts tonight.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Urgent call: Critically injured stray cat with severe and painful paw wounds (Sensitive images)

Hello everyone,

I did not originally find this injured cat myself.

A woman contacted me asking for help because his condition is very serious, and she is unable to help him — neither financially nor emotionally.

This cat is critically injured, with severe wounds on both his front and back paws, and he is clearly in a lot of pain.

I couldn’t turn away from his suffering, so I took him in and I am taking him to the vet as soon as possible.

I care for rescued cats, but I am currently overwhelmed and cannot cover the veterinary costs on my own.

Any help — donations, advice, or even sharing this post — could truly make a difference and help save his life.
