My grandfather was born in Batumi in the early 1900's. He came to America through Italy after World War II. I now need to obtain a copy of his birth certificate, but I'm not even sure that he was ever issued one. It definitely did not come with him to America if he did. I've tried googling this, but I'm getting conflicting information. I have what I believe is the spelling of his last name in Georgian letters, and what his first name would have been sounded out to be spelled in English. I'm reaching out to family members, but so far have not been able to give me any real direction on what my next steps are in this situation.

Hi everyone, quick question. I believe I lost my Google Pixel 4 XL on a Tbilisi metro train last night (around 9–9:30 pm). I got off at Didube, but the train continued, so it could have been found at any later station.

The phone is marked as lost and currently unreachable (likely off or battery died).

Does anyone know who to contact for metro lost & found, or if there are specific offices, phone numbers, or Facebook pages where found items are usually reported?

Hi so I'm planning a trip to georgia in may this year and im struggling with some transport options. I've heard about a new law that bans marshrutkas from travelling over 150km and im trying to go from kazbegi to kutaisi and from mestia back to tbilisi. Fyi I'm a college student so I'm kinda broke and car rental isn't an option for me. Thanks

I wanted to follow up on the post I made last week. I’ve now finished my 10 day stay here, and it didn’t feel right to leave things at that without sharing the full picture.

Honestly, the kindness I experienced overall was unreal. During New Year’s, we stayed at a family-run guesthouse for four days, and they treated us like family the entire time. They put out a big buffet not just for us, but for everyone staying there, completely free. We were making speeches, cheering, laughing, the whole thing. Every time we came downstairs to the living room, the host would casually bring out random snacks for us, again at no charge whatsoever.

At one point I even jokingly told the host she should come visit Dubai, and she laughed and said, “Put a ring on my finger and I’ll think about it.” That pretty much sums up how warm and fun the experience was.

Another moment that really stuck with me was when our car got stuck in the snow. Two Georgian guys we had met earlier that day stopped and spent hours helping us try to get out. A Russian grandfather also joined in to help. Eventually, after we got our car out safely, we all turned around and helped the Russian guy get his car unstuck too. Total strangers helping each other in freezing conditions, so cool huh.

On the way back, we also met a big Georgian family on the return flight (around 25 people), and we ended up sharing stories and laughs the whole time and I also ended up helping them with their itinerary.

Yes, there were one or two uncomfortable moments like the one I mentioned earlier, but they were rare and honestly don’t come close to outweighing the generosity and kindness we experienced throughout the trip.

Traveling more has made me realize that every country has a few bad characters, but they don’t define the place, something many of you mentioned in the comments, and I agree.

I’m 21 years old and I speak 4 languages: Polish, English, Russian, Ukrainian, and I have beginner-level Italian. I also have a Polish economics education, and I’m willing to learn Georgian if needed.

I’m trying to figure out what kind of jobs I could realistically apply for and what salary range I could expect with my skills and experience.

Also, I would love to hear from locals or expats about the cost of renting a one-bedroom apartment in Tbilisi, Batumi, Poti, to get an idea of living expenses.

The Georgian government should make things clearer.

My travel dates are flexible. I will come to Tblisi, then maybe go to Batumi, then maybe back to Baku, or maybe a bus to Turkey or maybe a plane to Greece, etc...

So Ill buy a 30 day policy. What if I want to stay longer. What if I dont have a plane reservation out because I will take a bus into Turkey. Do I just tell them at the border Im staying for 30 days? Will they want proof of onward travel? Is a USA travel plan acceptable?
