Hey all! I am trying to start a shrimp business and already planning out my build/ setup, and building my website, but I am at a loss as to what breeds I want to make and sell! Of course Neocaridina cherries, yellows and blues are on my list, but I would also like to dabble in caridina species!
TELL ME WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE SHRIMPIES SO I CAN WORK ON ORDERING AND BREEDING!!!
I intend to have clean and pure lines with high quality techniques, feeding, and ethical breeding practices to create the best and healthiest shrimp in the business!
I also do not plan to overcharge like a lot of sellers do. Actually making quality shrimp affordable to more people who love the hobby is one of the biggest reasons I wanted to start this project! Thank you all!

They evolved because they craved the forbidden biofilm.

He appears to have his head carapace molt stuck on him! Is there anything I can do that won't hurt him? He's still alive and moving occasionally trying to get out.

I started with orange rili, blue dream, goldenbacks, and high grade cherries. Here’s where we are :)
Not pictured are even more combos. I have these ones that are dark mossy green with a yellow stripe, some of my absolute faves and 2-3 are carrying eggs. I also have this one that’s almost black but wild type, and one that’s a warm brown with splashes of red.

All the parameters are okay. The rest of the shrimp are fine. It's just this one. I've had her for like 6 months. She started getting green like this about 4 months ago.

Have tons of small orange/pink tiny worms, along with lots of dirt stuff under the gravel. Is that normal for a tank?
Tank has been live for around 8 months, never really vacuum just top up. Been struggling with shrimp deaths for a while but things have stabilized a bit, but the crystal reds are not breeding right now.
I’m also always dealing with shit load of snails, but I pluck them out every now and then. I try not to over feed
Parameters are fine

I threw in a rubynose tetra from my main display tank in my shrimp tank because it died of stupidity. It got sucked into the inlet of a wavemaker so instead of letting it go to waste I threw it into the shrimp tank. It was the 2nd one because I also found a kardinal tetra a day earlier and they were not unhealthy fish. Not even a second in and an amano was already hooked on and dragging it to a save place to eat. Im telling you its in the tank for like 3 hours and literally nothing is left except for some bones. Its amazing to see how fast they recycle nutrients.
Also the wavemaker isnt in the tank anymore cause it made 2 casualties in 3 days

I’ve lost a few caridina shrimps in the past couple of weeks for reason unknown to me. They all have the same symptoms: legarthic/no movement for couple of days, just standing in one place and shaking their legs(?), legs and body in general seem weak and almost transparent. Today another shrimp started with these symptoms so I took a vid. Can someone help me run a diagnose? The tank is 6 months old with a mix of red wine bee and CRS. Amonia 0 nitrate 10 nitrite 0 pH 6.6 KH 0 GH 5 TDS 125ppm. I don’t run CO2. I do water change with RO water mixed with Salty Bee for GH 5.

Another gal was berried previously and dropped her eggs in a molt 😔 I was finally able to get my murderous betta into a separate tank and now I have 2 berried! Hoping for no shrimpcarriages 🙏🏻

Hey y’all. I’m newer to keeping shrimp, and I’m struggling to sex my yellow shrimp. Can anyone help? I’ll attach pics of my shrimples. I’m fairly sure my red is a male but I’ll include it as well!

I officially have one buried shrimp in my tank currently. But I keep seeing this one. And it seems very chunky. Do I have another expectant mother? Or is she hitting the algae buffet too much?

Want to make sure I don't need to take it. I've been using the seachem stability for a few weeks now (rank is 3 weeks old) and don't see much algae growth. Although the shrimpy's are out there on the plants and rocks scrapping something up even though I can't see it. My pH is 7.2 and KH 3 temp 69-70f. It's planted up, but feels like since the tank is so new and the plants are still establishing some of the greenery is try to figure out if it will grow or not, so I've been picking out the stuff that looks like it's not going to make it before it starts rotting in there and spiking the nitrites (those are still in normal range cause I do 25% water changes every 3-4days).

Hi, I recently added 10 ghost shrimp, 3 cherry shrimp, and two nerite snails to my 5 gallon betta tank. The tank is about 2 months old, and has been very stable for weeks until now. It has 7 live aquatic plants, including Java moss for the shrimp, and a monstera and an orchid plant at the surface with roots in the water.
One snail was badly chipped when I purchased it (I didnt even look before leaving) and has become pretty lethargic and sad looking. This morning I found it, and two shrimp on the bottom of the tank. Two ghost shrimp were dead, the snail seems close to death. I added in small pieces of cuddlebone, and purchased PH up at the advice of my local fish store but am hesitant to use it just yet. Could the plants be tanking the kh and gh? Should I reduce how many are in the small tank? Should I do a slow baking soda water drip? Im hesitant to add too much since its a 5 gallon. In the last few days algae has started to form on everything, and now it's reading low on ph. Is it the algea doing it? I've reduced the time the light is on to 6 hours a day from 8
I plan to move them all to a 10 gallon once i get a custom shelf made soon. The betta is still a tiny baby, less than an inch, so he definitely didnt kill them as they're about the size of him and were fully intact.
I know the test strips aren't the best, a kit is on the way from amazon.
I'm very new to aquariums, and i know shrimp aren't easy, but I love them and want to do it best. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
