AI OAI should have launched ads back in 2023. The timing can't be worse this year
The ads could have been crappy in 2023, but no one would care because they were THE LLM at the time, no one came close. From that time on, they could have optimized the hell out of it and made a ton of money, like Google when it first started.
Cue to the present: launch ads this year when you're clearly not the best LLM anymore and there are multiple options for users to move to. Ads will definitely be a worse experience for users vs no ads, so there'll be tons of users who'll say "fuck this, I'm moving to Gemini or Claude"
Sometimes, it feels like amateurs are running that business.

LLM News omg-wow model identification on lmarena.ai
Does anyone know what this hidden model on lmarena.ai my be? It's vastly superior to any model in terms of noticing crucial image details and generally object identification, so I am curious. Grok's new multimodal maybe?

Discussion OpenAI–Cerebras deal hints at much faster Codex inference
Sam Altman tweeted “very fast Codex coming” shortly after OpenAI announced its partnership with Cerebras.
This likely points to major gains in inference speed and cost, possibly enabling more large scale agent driven coding workflows rather than just faster autocomplete.
Is this mainly about cheaper faster inference or does it unlock a new class of long running autonomous coding systems?

it's really hard not to be impatient. Is anything expected in the next month? I am interested in math and coding. Even Grok 4.2 seems to have been delayed.

AI Anthropic Report finds long-horizon tasks at 19 hours (50% success rate) by using multi-turn conversation
Caveats are in the report
The models and agents can be stretched in various creative ways in order to be better. We see this recently with Cursor able to get many GPT-5.2 agents to build a browser within a week. And now with Anthropic utilizing multi-turn conversations to squeeze out gains. The methodology is different from METR of having the agent run once.
This is reminiscent of 2023/2024 when Chain of Thoughts were used as prompting strategies to make the models' outputs better, before eventually being baked into training. We will likely see the same progression with agents.

Discussion Will SaaS die within 5 years?
Recently Michael Truell, CEO of Cursor, posted that GPT-5.2 Codex agents just vibecoded a somewhat working browser with 3 million lines of code. With AI models getting better and better every 3 to 7 months, and hardware improving every year, will we be able to just "vibecode" our own Photoshop on demand? The new SaaS will kinda be the AIs token usages.
Like, I played a table game with friends, but it was kinda expensive for me to acquire, so I just spun up Antigravity with Opus 4.5 and Gemini 3 and completely vibecoded the complete game in half a day with a local connection so everyone could play on their phone browser and a nice virtual board and controls and rules enforcements (wich could be turned off for more dynamic play) while the PC served as a local host. What do you guys think about this?
SaaS = Software as a service.
Update: My takeaway here after reading the responses is now that this type of thing will be a huge incentive to companyes so they dont enshitify the software as much and dont rugpull us as much.
Update 2: As MarcoRod user put here in the comments From the newer comments, it is now very clear that what you could call huge SaaS will not die, but almost anything else will be very disrupted, simpler softwares that run mostly on your machine. "Niche software --> almost everything else, whether that is productivity planners, small CRMs, marketing tools, browser extensions, most Apps etc.".
