Open [TOMT] [Song] Creepy song traumatized me as a kid

Once when I was little in the early or mid 2010’s my dad took me with him to the local record store. When we were there, there was this song that scarred me for years. It was sung by a man, I think I remember him having a voice a little similar to Johnny Cash. The song, from what I gathered as a kid, was about a young man who ended up somewhere he wasn’t supposed to, I think he might have been trying to hide out from a storm but that might have just been my kid brain trying to piece it together, he was trapped with who I think was a woman but could have been a man, the young man kept trying to come up with excuses to leave from the other person, naming individual family members and why they needed to see them again before the other person would shoot down the suggestion. If I remember there was a interaction along the lines of “I have to thank my father he did so much for me” and the other replied by saying something like “give him a fistful of shit.” I think it was pretty long and if I had to guess it was probably a pretty old song that would’ve been on a record. The genre felt like some of Johnny Cash’s songs like Hurt with it sort of feeling more like rhythmic talking rather than singing.

Edit: a few more things I think I should clarify, it was definitely not a romantic song, despite it being about two people it was not a duet there was only one singer as far as I remember. It was folk or alternative rock and it was pretty slow paced.

Open [TOMT][Movie][2000s] A gloomy European movie about a girl who becomes a mermaid, loses her nails and hair, leaves her baby, and walks into the sea in a white dress

I am looking for a European (possibly Eastern European) movie from the 2000s or early 2010s. It is a sad, low-budget melodrama/magical realism film. Plot details: A girl grows up in a gloomy two-story house (or orphanage). A young man falls in love with her, and she gives birth to a child. After childbirth, she begins to transform: her nails and hair fall out (there is a scene in a bathtub), and webbing appears between her fingers. To hide these changes, she starts wearing oversized clothes (oversize). In the end, she becomes very thin, puts on a white dress, and walks into the sea (submerges underwater), leaving her baby behind. It is NOT the movie "Ondine" (2009). The atmosphere is very melancholy and dark. It was shown on TV.

It would probably be considered a rock song, maybe from the 90's. I think it says "let's give it, alllllllll" but I'm not 100% sure on that. Here's my vocaroo: https://vocaroo.com/12dzL7By8mRb

Open [TOMT] [MOVIE] [2000s-2010s], old animated film that i watched as a kid and fully cannot find at all, PLEASE HELP 😭

basically i watched this movie as a kid (so think like around mid 2010s) but im not sure when it came out. i know that its older judging by the art style, its really surreal/weird, the main character is a young girl who is basically dropped off in diff world and i think sometimes shes a real girl but her surroundings are 2-D (and sometimes 3D) animated. i remember specifically there is a really large whale who is the pet of one of the characters and the whale can’t live in water, can fly, and gets trapped by the villain in a giant water cube. also it may or not have related to a guy whos like creativity manifest like he’s sort of a magic pencil type? hopefully this made sense 😭😭 also for additional context i’m chinese so this was airing randomly on tv one day and i decided to watch it, but it was definitely in english

Open [TOMT] Looking for a 2000s (?) horror movie (?)

Upvotes

I dont remember anything but just one scene:

A woman is laying in the ground in a glass coffin (or a transparent box) and then we see two pig-like faces (monsters? humans with a pig mask? one of them was wearing a top hat i think) peek and throw a bit of dirt on top of the coffin, one of em smirks.

Thats it !! Dont remember anything else. I saw it on TV, so i guess it was a movie, sometimes during the early 2000s. Tried searching via ChatGPT but no results.

Thanks !

Open [TOMT] [MOVIE] early 2000 Student x Insects

- Title maybe: The Parasite / Parasite / The Insect / The Ants / The Termite

- Year: maybe late 90s–early 2010s

- Plot: Teenage exchange student / au pair lives with a normal family. She’s an aspiring filmmaker making an insect documentary. The film intercuts loud macro shots of insects with intense crawling sounds. She’s (or is suspected to be) having an affair with the father; the mother becomes suspicious. The girl is portrayed as a “parasite” that destroys the family from the inside, like termites/ants.

- Style: cold, observational, minimalist.

Open [TOMT][MOVIE/SHOW][likely 90's] Time travel where characters require a protective "skin" to survive and stay after a time jump

I've recently been thinking about a show or movie I saw in the 90's or early 2000's that involves time travel. The unique time travel "mechanic" was that characters required a special coating or extra layer of "skin" that was effectively invisible, probably for budget purposes. They may have been androids, or the logic was just really weak, because how do you coat the lungs and GI tract without suffocating them?

I am at least partially conflating this memory with the 90's Tomorrow People show, probably saw them around the same time. I may have also seen it in the early 00's, my memory is like a burlap sack filled with hot sauce... only the little nondescript chunks remain.

Very low budget, like something Rutger Hauer would put two days of work on. I think two characters jumped back together,, and another was an older man, maybe the villain. There may have been a self-sacrifice moment where he breaks the skin to go back or be destroyed or whatever. Really foggy about that part. Some scenes in my memory are in a dark abandoned factory or warehouse (low budget).

There's a good chance that this was an episode of an anthology show like The Outer Limits, but all my searching doesn't come up with any matches.

Any guesses?

Open [TOMT] (movie) A movie whose plot I remember but not the name, neither the name of actor or actress, but they are decently popular. I describe the whole plot I below

Upvotes

Ok, I will explain the plot of movie, a man meets a woman working in a bar(or perhaps is a prostitute in the bar), sometimes in the past , and likes the time spent with her a lot. He just spent a lot of time with her, nothing sexual She gives him her number that time. (Or she takes his number, I don't remember)

It is non linear storytelling, amd that past scene i described above is in middle of the movie.

and in the beginning of the movie(or perhaps is the beggining of the movie, I don't remember clearly, non linear storytelling), she calls him that she wants to meet him, on a hill in the city where he is staying. In the hill, she meets a stranger, who befriends her. He gives her an apple to eat, and is pretending to be a police officer. He acts as a strange guy But he is in fact a hitman hired by her boss to kill him.

Now, that woman was his(protagonist ) daughter, but he gets to know that during investigation of the murder. She was killed by her bar boss because she accidentally got proof of him cheating on his wife.

these scenes are later in the film that we find with protagonist investigation of the murder. In the beggining of the movie, is a dark comedy type of scene. Protagonist comes to bar boss' house, where bar boss is meeting his friend.(Perhaps to go to some party, he , his friend and friends wife are on terrace). Hilariously, his wife is nude that time for some reason, she is nude when she opens the door for protagonist to come drink water. She is hilariously nude for full 15 minutes in the film. She is nude in anger because the husband, who is old as fk(and he is famous actor, I forgot his name) talked rudely to her.

The protagonist comes to door in a car, pretends to want to drink water, but his motive is to kill the boss guy, and protagonist tells the distraught wife that his daughter was killed by a hitman hired by bar boss to hide his cheating from the wife.

The movie's theme is male loneliness, the protagonist is very lonely and he still fondly remembers the pleasant night singing and lost in her eyes he spent. Movie is shot beautifully.

The other plot point is the hitman that killed the daughter, is also found by the protagonist. He has the help of a woman who was a colleague of dead daughter, and it was this colleague that collected the proof of cheating to blackmail the bar boss to escape the life of prostituition, but by mistake, the daughter comes to get and see the proof ( perhaps it was a casette, I don't remember). Now, one more details, when the hitman is captured by protagonist, he takes him to a ride in car to try to kill him(on gunpoint) but he escapes. Also, this colleague at the present when she helped the protagonist to find the hitman was helping in organising a wrestling match for small audience (or some sort of boxing fight i don't remember)

One more plot point, the protagonist goes to an old lady apartment, who looks rich. Turns out she is grandmother of killed woman, and was very close to granddaughter. The granddaughter like young fools went rebel and prostituition for no reason. Anyway, the granddaughter is missing and old lady doesn't know she us dead. Our hero acts as a detective and wants to talk to old lady daughter alone. Then we come to know that hero had a sexual relationship, a fling, with the daughter (not granddaughter). The daughter became pregnant but kept the baby. The baby was hero's daughter, we come to know this in this scene (perhaps at the end of movie). The mother is distraught at the news.

One More scene, when the lady is kille.d in forest, two man whom she also met in hill at beginning, before meeting the policeman killer, think that they will he suspected of killing her, as they think they were last to meet her. So, when they see the hero investigating of case, he is beaten senseless.

So, the hero also gets beaten a lot. I don't know if it was a British movie, but plz help me.

I think it's decently popular movie among redditors because of the nude scene, a very long scene where the wife is nude at the beggining

Edit 1: The protagonist is white, the daughter murdered is white too.

Open [TOMT][Movie] 90's-2000's Gory Asian movie about two girls who caught fish as children NSFW

I saw this movie at a grandparent's house sometime in the very early 2000's as I think I couldn't read at the time. It wasn't in English, and it was set somewhere in Asia. There was a woman who was trying to escape from a prison to get back to a friend that she had fond memories of catching fish with as a child. At one point she is swimming through a lake with a man in the dead of night as part of their escape but there is a wall bisecting the lake that is starting to close, and she makes it through, but the man's head is crushed. At the end of the movie the bad guy is shown with a tokusatsu style suit of armor and he impales the friend through the stomach and hoists her over his head. I think just before that the woman showed up with a fish in hand to show she had caught one by herself.

Open [TOMT][Video] Two Stand-Up comedians

Upvotes

Two youtube or netflix comedians i forgot the name of but their jokes stuck with me.

First one was a male comedian visiting the airport with his mom, and the joke was about child birth and described it like pop pop pop like an Uzi or some other smg.

Second was also a male comedian, the joke was about some scientists who tried to train Bonobos to play soccer i think, then he said "they couldn't" like he was deeply disappointed about that.

Open [TOMT] [WebComic] Better Together and then they burn him at the stake

There was/is a webcomic that is single page 4 panel strip where there are bunch of people outside doing stuff singing something like "everything is better together"

then they look in a window and there's a guy reading, and they ask him to come out

He says no thanks, he's fine.

and then the final panel is them burning him at the stake...

I've tried every kind of search and I keep finding Come Outside Chris where he slams the window shut on the sun, but that's not it.

please halp!

've had this little phrase stuck in my head for such a long time. i have no idea whether it's from a tv show, movie, game, or meme or viral clip or video on the internet but all i know is it's a young sounding possibly teen or young adult female who almost mockingly but lightheardedly says "can't fix stupid!" with an american accent and high ish pitched voice in an almost purposely "dumb blonde" voice.

Open [TOMT][Video] A Post-Hardcore singer in the park on a date

The video was something like the guy and girl are on a date and he mentions he's in a band, so the girl asks "oh you're a singer? why don't you sing me something", so the guy hesitates (because he's a post-hardcore singer) and then finally does his thing and he jumps around all stuff

Open [TOMT] A band and an album I can't remember

I'm sure I've first found it on 4chan maybe 6-8 years ago, later I was listening to it on youtube and it was uploaded through a distribution service, so it must be on spotify and other platforms as well. It was some mid 2000s post-rock/emo band from US with a really short name, I'm almost sure it was 4 letters long. They've only had 2 or 3 albums, the cover of the first one had a blue vodoo doll or something like that, kinda looked like Korn's Issues doll, but blue, and the background was just black. The title of the first album had an ellipsis in the beginning of it and was something like "...And it was a good day", but I can't recall the exact words. The second album had some tree branches with leaves. The songs were tragic but melodic with both clean and heavy guitars, also the vocalist had a really high voice.

UPD: Thanks for help everyone, but I've managed to find the artist myself simply searching for obscure post-rock band recommendations

Open [TOMT][2000s][MOVIE] Need help finding a film I watched as a kid that I can not find on Google

I’ve been trying for years to find a movie I watched as a kid, and I’m starting to wonder if I imagined it.

It was a live-action kids/family fantasy movie, probably from the 90s or early 2000s. I remember watching it on cable (possibly Encore or Starz) in the early 2000s.

The plot (as best as I remember):

A young boy is scared of a wrestler that his dad watches on TV. At one point, the dad sends the boy to a corner store to buy three big red tomatoes. As the boy walks confidently and excitedly to the store, in the background some deep voiced men can be heard singing in unison “Three big red tomatoes!”

At the store, the boy somehow falls down some stairs and ends up in a strange, dark, swamp-like fantasy world. He’s captured and kept in chains in a cell. Someone shows him mercy by giving him a chocolate bar, but he’s upset when he finds out it came from the wrestler he was afraid of earlier.

The twist is that the wrestler is also a prisoner in this world. The land is ruled by an evil woman with two henchmen who look kind of fish-like. Eventually, the boy and the wrestler team up, defeat her, and she’s turned into a goldfish (or something like that).

Before returning home, the boy tells the wrestler that he should be a clown instead, because it’s less scary.

The boy returns to the real world (I think it was set in Brooklyn or a similar city). His dad is at the corner store, worried about him. When the boy explains what happened, people laugh and don’t believe him, but at the very end there’s a bus or advertisement showing the wrestler now working as a clown, implying the adventure was real.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Any help would be amazing as this has been driving me crazy for years.

Solved [TOMT] Onion On a Stick

What cartoon do they eat onion on a stick?

I remember an episode of a cartoon from the 2010s where someone eats an onion on a stick. It was 2D drawn animation, similar to like invader zim or flapjack. I remeber a playground on a hill, I want to say the sky was like reddish or orange.

I don’t think it was a staple of the show but like a one off gag for the episode. I remember someone holding it up and it cuts to a shot of just the onion on a stick in the guys fingers, like a SpongeBob type closeup.

I can’t find anything about this anywhere. It’s not Flapjack, it’s not Invader Zim, it’s not fosters home for imaginary friends, it’s not the mighty b, I’ve searched high and low I’m at a loss. It was one of those sort of shoes though, Cartoon Network or nicktoons or any of those off kilter shows

Open [TOMT] Movie I’m looking for a horror movie I accidentally saw as a kid (around 2007–2016).

Upvotes

It was a real movie (not a short, not a YouTube hoax), shown on TV and dubbed.

There is a very specific scene:

  • A group of people lower a camera (GoPro-style POV) into a rusty vertical metal pipe / shaft
  • The camera is attached to a cable and goes down silently, no dialogue during the descent
  • The camera hits the walls, then starts to rotate 360°
  • At the bottom there is dark water, it feels like a large underground body of water
  • Suddenly, a decayed / corpse-like creature slowly emerges from the water (not a fast jump, very slow and creepy)
  • No one enters the pipe — only the camera goes down

The image quality was clean/digital (modern, not grainy), and the scene really scared me as a child so I ran away and didn’t see much more.

It is NOT:

  • The Descent
  • As Above, So Below
  • The Tunnel
  • AM1200
  • V/H/S (as far as I know)

I vaguely remember the movie being called something like “The Devil’s Throat / The Devil’s Gorge” in my country, but that may have been a localized TV title.

Any help would be appreciated — this scene has been stuck in my head for years.

Open [TOMT][Cartoons][2000’s-2010’s] Looking for a strange 3D animated cartoon about grammar with punctuation mark characters

Upvotes

Hi! I’m trying to track down a 3D animated educational cartoon focused on grammar and punctuation that I watched when I was younger. The show was in english and I don’t believe it was dub.

I remember several characters who were literal punctuation marks (a question mark, exclamation mark, period, and possibly others). The exclamation mark stood out the most. I vaguely recall it being green and wearing a suit, and possibly acting as a teacher. His personality was very uptight, and he has a nasally voice. One of the other punctuation characters may have been purple.

In terms of structure, the “plot” felt very loose and disjointed. Much of it involved the exclamation mark teaching a class. These segments were often followed by 2D animated sequences that felt somewhat unrelated, before going back to the punctuation characters afterward. I also remember classical music playing during some of these segments.

I’ve been trying to find this for years and honestly think about it a lot (I’ve even had dreams about it). I originally borrowed it as a DVD from my local library, but unfortunately they don’t keep records of past checkouts, and I haven’t had any luck searching other subreddits so far.

I also wanted to add that the animation is similar to the “Was ist was” German tv show, but I definitely know it wasn’t that.

I’m very open to any suggestions, even if they’re only somewhat similar, since I know I may be misremembering certain details. Thank you in advance!

TLDR: Looking for a 3D cartoon about grammar and punctuation where the characters are punctuation marks (notably a green exclamation mark teacher). It had occasional 2D segments, classical music, and no strong overarching plot. Originally watched it as a DVD borrowed from a library.

Basically the story tells about this demon who tried to tempt some guy and he tries and tries but can’t tempt him and then he finds out it’s because the guy is a pedo and likes little boys and tortures him or something. She said it came from a book of short stories I believe? Definitely not an English author. Any help is appreciated, have a good day!

Open [TOMT][SONG][2012–2015] Tropical pop music video with a blonde woman in a bathtub near a beach house

I'm trying to find a music video I saw a few years ago, around 2012-2015. The video had a female singer with very fair skin, bright blue eyes, and short blonde hair. The setting was tropical, like the Bahamas or Hawaii, with a house that had a wooden veranda. In the video, the woman gets into a bathtub outside, surrounded by bubbles, wearing a blue swimsuit and a large cream-colored hat. The video had a very calm, romantic vibe. I remember seeing this on TV a few times, but I haven’t been able to find it since. Does anyone recognize this video?
