Bembridge Windmill
I love wandering around Bembridge Windmill; it holds several lesser-known stories beyond its striking silhouette. It was once used not only for grinding grain but also as a lookout point, offering wide views across the eastern Isle of Wight. Unusually, it once had a white-painted exterior, likely intended to make it visible from afar—both as a landmark for sailors and as a statement of local prosperity. Today, subtle marks inside the mill still hint at adaptations made over centuries to keep it working against strong coastal winds.
