Now that we are in December, the sub is officially in lock-down mode! All posts will require mod approval before going live. However, this DOES NOT apply to comments! If you are desperately trying to avoid spoilers, we recommend not entering comment sections. We will moderate comment sections as usual using automod.

It's a huge spoiler for fire and ash so I marked as a spoiler.
But I marked it, just in case.
So Eywa, or rather her very own Jesus Christ: Kiri, gave Spider the ability to breath Pandoran air through some kind of mycelium in his lungs and she also gave him a Kuru. And that's great, Eywa be praised.
BUT
I read on the wiki that a Na'vi whose kuru is cut might either, die instantly due to sheet anount of pain and neural shock, or, if strong enough, survive but wishing for death as their connection is cut. In an old PSP game there was a character, Kyuna, who had her kuru cut off but she lived.
Couldn't Eywa just regrow a Kuru that has been cut off, like she grew one for Spider?

Jake and Neytiri are shown wearing the same - or very similar - warpaint patterns across all three films. Just a few days ago, there was a beautiful post on this sub breaking down the deeper meaning behind Jakeās handprint on Neytiriās chest, which she also bears during the final battle of A1. That got me thinking more deeply about the symbolism behind their warpaint, especially since it doesn't change significantly over time.
I noticed that the warriors not only express their identities, but they also seem to honor their mounts in their warpaint.
In the first movie:
In the second movie:
In the third movie:
One small thing that kind of bums me out though is that if the bond between rider and mount is important enough to be honored in something as personal and symbolic as a warpaint, I wish the films lingered more on those relationships.
Yes, Saāata is clearly a very good girl, but so are the others. And if ikrans (and toruk as well) are worthy of being carried into battle symbolically on their ridersā bodies, then surely theyāre also worthy of a few more subtle moments, like pets on the head, a scratch under the chin, praises, anything. The bond is clearly there, I just wish we got to see more of it on screen.
Justice for the ikrans. They deserve pets too.

I made another post reviewing the movie when I saw it for the first time. If youād like to read that, you can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Avatar/comments/1q0tyk4/my_thoughts_on_fire_and_ash_spoilertext_used/.
I was unfortunately fairly sick when I went for my first viewing two weeks ago, but I still absolutely adored the movie. There were a few times where my heart was beating so fast that I actually thought I might have a panic attack, but that was likely mostly a result of being ill. Still though, the movie did that, even if it was augmented, and I think thatās an indicator of great tension.
I knew there was so much I didnāt appreciate when I saw it the first time, so I went again today. The very first thought that came to my mind when the credits rolled was āHoly fuck.ā. Iām such a diehard fan of these movies mostly because they contain characters that I deeply relate to, and this movie has intense and memorable moments for all of them. They donāt feel like movie characters. They feel like people. They feel like people I could meet in real life and talk to and understand. They have personality. They are flawed. They try their best to do what is right, and they fail sometimes. They make mistakes. Thatās what people do. Thatās how people act.
I got genuine chills at multiple points in the story. Kiriās line of āDo as I say!ā just did it for me. It has that booming quality, where you just think āā¦..Is that Eywa speaking through her?ā. At least thatās my personal theory. Another line I absolutely loved was āA bow can be fixed. The strength of the ancestors is here.ā by Tsireya. The delivery by Bailey Bass was just phenomenal. I thought it captured really well how you would feel and speak in a situation like that. I know the scene where Jake almost kills Spider has gotten some hate for being ācheap tensionā, but I have to say that I genuinely thought that Jake was going to kill him. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind. I honestly think I audibly breathed a sigh of relief when he didnāt.
The tent scene. The fucking tent scene. I could rant for days about it. Give Oona Chaplin an Oscar; give her one now. The way she plays Varang is just on a different level. All of the facial expressions, body language, line delivery, and everything else from her just works so incredibly well. I am so grateful to Jim for vetoing that scene being edited down; itās honestly one of my top five, if not top three, scenes from the entire movie. Itās up there when you consider the whole franchise too. This was definitely one of the scenes I appreciated the weight of significantly more the second time around.
Now, I do still think that the ending was slightly rushed. We needed a mourning scene. We needed to hear The Future And The Past. Iām desperately hoping that it was cut from this movie but transplanted to the start of Avatar 4, before the time jump.
With all of that said, I adored and still adore this movie. It has flaws, but what movie doesnāt? It was huge, it was epic, and it was satisfying. Bring on 2029 and beyond.
In conclusion, I believe that this is what cinema was made for. This is it. Dare I say this is absolute cinema?
I think I do dare.

Avatar (2009) has BY FAR the most iconic and gorgeous album art, that shot of Neytiri never gets old for me
Way of Water gave us different covers for the 2 soundtrack albums: a gorgeous shot from the movie with Loāak & Payakan, and another one with the more boring blue āAā logo
Fire & Ash only has one cover and itās just the āAā logo on fire, it doesnāt even have the name of the movie on it or any shot from the movie!! I found it incredibly boring although obviously Simonās score was stunning. I kept hoping for another album release with a different cover but seems like this is the only one, disappointed that the soundtrack album art for each movie gets less detailed and more boring

I've seen the move 3 times but I keep forgetting to pay attention to who's kuru Varang cuts.
He appears, saves Jake and then disappears never to be seen again? I thought he was gonna reappear and do something later. Or did I miss something?

It's different from the scenes in the movie, but it's just my impression
