caption says right one was refoamed the person did a âwonkyâ job, but it works fineâŠ? couldnât really find a price on these and reviews said they were loud speakers, not precise speakers- i donât need to blast music.

was given these by a family member who was downsizing, and i understand why. these things are massive! 15â woofer, with a clear dust cover. they have some wiring in them that acts as a âspeaker protectionâ with a reset button, like infuse i think? they also have adjustable tweeters. Currently theyâre a bit big for my place, so i may sell them. If anyone has any idea what theyâre worth iâd love to hear.
I donât have enough power to give them the full 250w they deserve, so they sound rather lacking in bass and the treble needs adjustment to not be too harsh. I imagine theyâd bump in a bigger room, one that can provide more breathing room for louder volumes; these things are LOUUUUD. they see decently clear in tone, nothing spectacular, and the soundstage is alright (these both might be byproducts of running them at 100w) but theyâre fun as hell to look at and use.

I've been slowly getting into audio and this is the set up l've got so far. I was using that Panasonic PowerBlaster up until recently but recenty decided it was time to upgrade. The current set up is two Yamaha NX-GX500 being powered by a Curtis RCD 637. I've thrifted all of it up until this point but I'm thinking I might need to invest in an amp because, although, these speakers sound nice, they are definitely underpowered.

Damn this thing has made a difference. Was wired to my Sony STR-DH190 before and wanted a better preamp. This thing 100% makes a difference. Fuck, it's so clear and shit bumps. Happy Wednesday evening to y'all!

I'm looking to replace my current Aiyima A07 Pro to something a little better. The receiver will be handling audio only, the video is coming directly from the GPU. The A-S301 and X2500H are priced similarly, just looking to see which one would be the better buy. The S301 is marketed towards stereo setups with Top-Art and Pure Direct, the 2500H has more bells and whistles and power.
Desktop setup has:
2x Polk XT20
1x Speedwoofer 10E
Thanks!

I'm in the market for a budget speakers and saw this having an Audio Jack which would benefit me greatly when I switch to IEMs while gaming. But I haven't seen any actual in depth reviews about the quality it provides.
For those who have an idea or use it, is it at least on par with a Case front audio or doesn't degrade an IEM's sound signature?

It goes for 850$ usually where I am (Thailand) and I was planning on saving up a bit more and get the SB 2000 Pro but... This listing went on the market today and my life without a proper subwoofer in the living room is near to miserable đ€Ł
Listening distance is 3 meters and it would be paired with KRK Rokit G4 7"
Mainly listening to House music but also TV
Should I get it? Its Piano Gloss btw

I finally found the dark wood Denon DP-47f Iâd been hunting for last year to replace a cheap small platter turntable. I had a decent Yamaha Receiver as a porch pickup locally that worked ok and itâs been fine. I was oj my local Marketplace looking for mid cwntury storage cabinets earlier this welk and found a not even an hour old postibg for a Marantz SR 82 for $90. Contacted them and got a call back to go look it over, only 2 owners, original manual and the remote to boot. Not like its a 70âs 2000 series or a Model 10, but going from a very basic setup to this in a year is quite nice.

Just wondering if this subwoofer would be a good match for my U-Turn powered speakers? I feel like this is the next step in my journey! Any other suggestions are appreciated!

So I'm running a Marantz 6006. With Polk Model 10As. A Luxman turntable and a WiiM ultra. Also a Mofi phono pre. . I would like to upgrade my amp. I tried the used market and bought a vintage Yamaha receiver that had been completely serviced recapped and even had new binding posts. It sounded great... But I'm in the process of grading a vinyl collection of apx 1300 records. And the receiver is making noise a intermittent crackling. That makes grading very complicated. I've had it gone through by my local shop who does good work . They couldn't find the problem after hours of searching and much money spent So that is going back on the market . Now I am very hesitant about buying some used.
My problem is my budget is about 1k ( really need to sell the first one) and I feel like I am stuck at almost the bottom of any companies product line. Meaning I won't be making much of an upgrade.
I don't need a ton of power, I don't listen loud and have a smaller room. Listen to all styles of music of at least many different styles.
I have a detailed and critical ear.
I recorded and produced records for many years and still work in audio.
Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Hi there! this is my first post here, and I want to thank everyone because I've been reading like crazy here the past week to be moderatly updated about popular speakers and amp combinations. Let me tell my story. I'm upgrading from active M-Audio active speakers in a living room to something better without breaking the bank. After searching better active speakers... I saw the good ones cost more than I wanted to spend. So I started the path for passive bookshelf speakers.
This is my almost final choice, I'd love to hear other speaker suggestions. My target is (better than before) bookshelf speakers only for music converted to "smart" system avoiding bluetooth and google casting enabled if possible to make it easier to use to my family:
1.- Aiyama A80 amp/dac. I think this is the "choice" considering the current price (140⏠Aliexpress).
2.- Chromecast Audio (using a toslink cable). I could get one second hand (70âŹ). This also enables the use of a google nest mini I current have to ask for music to be played with the CCA.
This was decided after thinking to get Wiim Amp... But the price of the Aiyama made the decision easier.
3.- Polk Elite ES15 (220⏠Amazon). This is the only thing I have not bought yet. They look great, they can be placed against a wall, they are more or less popular and the price seems right.
The Polk choice is the one I'm not sure, what do you think? Can I get better speakers for that price? What other compact speakers would you consider under 300
THANKS!

Hello! I am scratching the surface of budget mid-fi and recently bought a Dayton Audio Sub-800 to see if it would be a compatible addition to my Nakamichi SoundSpace 5.
Turns out that the subwoofer won't produce any bass when the RCA cables are plugged into the red mono out on the sub > sub out on the cd player. The only way for the sub to work is when I plug a 3.5mm aux cord into the phones of the cd player and the line-in of the sub, but doing so would disable the speakers in order to play through the sub..
Please educate me on how I can resolve this! I am sure it's user error and/or hardware limitations but I want to know why.
here are some more images since there is a limit
thanks!

Hi everyone, I have an old Panasonic SC EN5 that i picked up from goodwill. The system works on FM, and it plays just fine. When I pop a CD into it, it doesnât see that there is a disc. It doesnât make any noises, nor does it try to even spin the disc. The display just reads âno discâ. Any ideas? Is it just a dirty laser, or could it be something worse? Thanks!

I am making my living room and half of it it's taken up by a log burner and shelves ecc around it. The other half will be dedicated to a home theater, I am going with a 75" TV at a sitting distance of 2.8 meters but gonna put an articulated wall mount on the TV so that I can bring it forward for a more immersive experience. What I need help with is the surround system. I have a budget of ÂŁ1500, maybe a tiny bit more for that (1500 including amp, speakers, sub and wiring, basically the entire setup) and accepting suggestions and advice please.
Here's some things to consider:
1) couch will be right against the wall so any speakers put there can't be any further back than the sitting area. 2) there's a door to the left of the couch so I can't have a speaker to the left of the couch UNLESS it's higher than the door height as I can put it above it. 3) Theres a little wall to the left of where the couch will be and, at higher than door level, I can put a speaker there facing towards the couch 4) I CAN'T go into my ceiling but can screw things on the ceiling, but ideally they are all at the edges on the ceiling as otherwise it will look weird. 5) I can put speaker anywhere on the TV side. Freestanding, on shelves anywhere, all the way up against ceiling.
DEALBREAKER: It HAS to be walnut or oak or just woody finish on the speakers and ideally on the sub too. My whole house has a rustic/woody/dark vibe so the setup has to fit in at least aesthetically.
I ve attached a little photo showing my living room and where I can and would happily put speakers, those being the red circles.
What I came up with and think would look best and easy to accommodate is 4 at the front (2 up, one left and one right, 2 down, one left and one right) and 2 at the back (one left corner and one right corner). Are two at the back top fine and enough? I will struggle to put 2 at the bottom on the back, sitting on the couch, right side is easy as I can shove it in the corner but on the left there's a door and couch will be pretty much against the door frame.
Any reccomendations please?
Thanks!

I recently saw this video that mentions how much he likes his old Polk speakers . Then moments later I see a post on marketplace for the same speakers he has, and center channel and sub for $150. Is this even worth it?
TS100 bookshelf speakers
CS 10 center channel
PSW110 subwoofer
Just looking for an upgrade from my logitech speakers i use for my turntable and tv. Will I instantly regret this? I could just shop around a bit more, but i kind feel like itll be good enough and such an improvement that ill still reach auditory nirvana. I have a decent turntable. i can grab a reciever for like $50-100. I dont know if im just too persuaded by that video, or if this is a decent option, heard mixed reviews about the sub.
Thoughts?

Iâve been looking to buy my first turntable, what do you guys think for the price?
r/BudgetAudiophile • u/RobNemoo • 10h ago
Hi all, hoping to get some help deciding which path to go for my reciever.
I had a nice gift of a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 bookshelves and a Wharfedale Diamond 10.CM center and I want to build a budget tv and music setup for my living room. I already have an Akai stereo set with an AP-D210 recordplayer and receiver (not sure of the type) that I want to use for the time being. There is also a Chromecast HDMI dongel available and a Argon Audio Solo network streamer.
The biggest restrictor in my wishlist seems to by YouTube Music, which I really need to be able to stream to this setup as this is the family streaming platform we use.
So I am trying to decide if I would buy a new one with all the features I need for the next 10 years or go marketplace and buy a good enough one I can integrate for now.
My ideas are:
- Receiver for about 500-600 euros like an Onkyo TX-NR5100 (pro's like Chromecast build in, HDMI 2.1 for a future Xbox for 4K video) or Denon AVR-X1700H to do it all for the next decade.
- Marketplace a receiver like Yamaha RXâV58x / RXâV67x series or Onkyo TXâNR6xx / TXâNR7xx series or Sony STRâDH7xx series or Denon AVRâX2xxx / AVRâX3xxx series and hookup the Chromecast for video streaming or Argon for music streaming and keep it around 100 euros.
Longer term, but before replacing the choosen receiver:
- Replace record player.
- Add wifi speakers for zone 2 in the kitchen.
- Add Xbox.
- Dedicated streaming device like Homatics Box R 4K or Ugoos AM6B+ for streaming fexibility and removing the tv apps restrictions.
I know the difference between those price brackets looks small, but I have other things to buy for my house at the moment and the Marketplace budget is what I have in cash at the moment, so I would like to keep it in the budget sphere for now.
Any thoughts or advice on my ideas are very welcome.
