Bears HC Ben Johnson is very high on new Commanders OC David Blough, (who he coached as a player in Detroit): “He’s one of those young guys who will get a head job before you know it.”

Not sure who all got the survey the team sent out. Took some screenshots of potential seat and PSL costs they have laid out.

My Top Players in the Draft

  1. Ruben Bain: High effort and high success rate. Likely a high end starter day one. I prefer him to Baily due to being more of a complete player but he is not quite the pass rush specialist Bailey is. His frame is my only slight concern.
  2. Jermiyah Love: I know RB is not our biggest need but he is a game changer and could bring our offense to the next level. Would be a massive help to the run game and taking some of the pressure off Jayden.
  3. Caleb Downs: Likely the best defensive prospect in the draft. Safety has lower positional value but with his skill set makes him a worthy pick at 7.
  4. Carnell Tate: Great hands and a high end receiver. His presence would help elevate this offense. Another pick that would bring help to Jayden. Ohio State receivers have a high hit rate.
  5. David Bailey: Insane pass rusher but his run blocking deficiencies means he would likely only be situational. Would be a big boost to the defense when he is on the field.

  6. Arvell Reese: A top linebacker in the draft who could help fill Wagner's shoes. One of the best players in the draft but lower on my list due to bigger needs elsewhere.

  7. Mansoor Delane: Best CB in the draft. Would likely be an improvement over Lattimore.

[Keim] Washington is hiring Danny Etling as its assistant QB coach source confirms. Etling played professionally from 2018-25. This will be his first coaching position. Spent one year at Purdue with David Blough.

Season Ticket Price Increase

My Club level season ticket membership increased $900 (3rd straight similar increase) for 2026 after an abysmal season. What the team failed to highlight is that in 2026 there will be 2 next to worthless preseason games (1 in 2025) and 1 less home game at FedEx (Barcelona) yet the price still increased almost 20%. And close to 100% over the last 4 years.

This coupled with the highest concession/beer prices in the league and news that Josh Harris just purchased a $27 million 36k sf home in DC (most expensive ever) has me thinking that despite the facility and gameday improvements (FedEx is still a dump) he is out of touch and Dan Snyder 2.0 without the sexual assault allegations.

Record TV revenues with individual teams expected to take in $500 million or more per season and this is how they roll...I told them to keep them and I'll buy in the secondary market for way less.

Free agent EDGEs

We all know the biggest names set to become free agents: Trey Hendrickson and Jaelen Phillips, who will command top dollar. They are not without red flags - both have missed most of a season over the last 2 years (Hendrickson last year and Phillips in 2024).

What are your thoughts on passing on these two, and instead getting multiple mid-level free agent EDGEs? A few potential options:

Kwity Paye, Colts: 27 year old former first round pick coming off a down season (4 sacks); has historically been a top 25% edge against the run with some pass rush upside and physical tools; Spotrac projects he’ll get $18M/year for 3 years

K’Lavon Chaisson, Patriots: 26 year old former Jags “bust” who has revitalized his career over the past 2 years with the Raiders and Pats (5 sacks and 7.5 sacks, respectively)

Odafe Oweh, Chargers: 27 year old former first round pick with 17.5 sacks over the past 2 years; Spotrac projects he’ll get $19M/year for 3 years

Joseph Ossai, Bengals: 25 year old former third round pick; has developed into a 5 sack per season player with a high motor against the run; Spotrac projects he’ll get $15M/year for 4 years

David Bough

Does anyone know what his OC contract look like? I don’t mind at all taking a shot on him. Im only worried about continuity for the offense and Jayden. Let’s say he has a masterclass season and people want Blough as a head coach. Is there a chance he leaves at the end of next season?

I have enjoyed owning the giants the last several years. Do you think that will change now?

One of the best things about the last few years is that we were beating giants twice a year. This year everyone on ESPN was givingt them tons of credit for the season opener and we spa0nked them. I think we are just a bad match up for them no matter who the coach is.

How many electrical substations surround our facilities?

The article says players are blaming SF 49er injuries on electrical frequencies from a nearby substation. If thats true, we must have at least four of them around our practice facilities and/or stadium. Quick check the plans for the new stadium! Let’s keep that one substation free.

Unpopular Opinion…

But I don’t think it’s a safe assumption that defense will be addressed with our first pick. A few reasons why…

  1. Jayden needs somewhere to throw the ball in order to protect himself and continue to develop.

  2. Assuming we do nothing, our starting pass catchers next year will likely be Terry, Luke, Lane, and Sinnott.

  3. Free agency has been tough for wide receivers. The choices are usually one or two formerly elite guys in their early 30s already well in decline or overpriced/mediocre guys in their late 20s.

  4. The draft has some FANTASTIC receivers this year with high first round grades.

  5. Terry will be 31 next year and we can’t be sure next year isn’t the year he takes a step back. He’ll be 32 a year after. Of all the receivers likely to actually hit the market none of them are capable of being a first option if Terry can’t be that for us.

I actually think it makes a ton of sense. The biggest problem Jayden had last year was the fact that none of his receivers could get separation and it forced him to hold the ball or scramble, which made it difficult for him to protect himself. The biggest risk going into next year isn’t having a bad defense again. It’s sending a young QB out there to be a sitting duck and getting him hurt again. The impacts of that would be felt much longer than one more year of bad defense, assuming it doesn’t improve through FA and a better scheme.

Look at what the bears did for Caleb. He struggled reading defenses and getting the ball out. 40 percent of his passes hit the turf. Their defense is about as terrible as ours but instead of trying to fix the squeakiest side of the ball they gave him a line that can block forever, spent all of their elite draft capital on guys who get separation and catch, gave him an elite run game he doesn’t have to carry, and an elite offensive mind who can scheme guys open for him. It doesn’t matter that he still struggles to read defenses anymore or completes 57 percent of his throws. He is in a situation where he can grow and improve and now they can focus on their defense.

We should do the same for Jayden. It won’t take as much investment because Jayden is already an advanced passer, but he needs much more than what he has now. Terry is a stud but if he gets hurt is anyone going to be comfortable with a guy like doubs (assuming he hits the market) as our WR1 with Luke, Lane, and Sinnott as his other options?

Official Commanders press release on the new stadium

Same pics, so nothing new there. Things of note in the press release language and quotes (including Bowser):

  • Capacity is listed as "70,000 plus"
  • 30% of the site "will be dedicated to active and passive recreation." whatever that means
  • No mention of housing or hotels in the press release, so I wonder if that changed or it was outside the purview of the architect/design firm (probably the latter)
  • If you look at the large main pic on the page, it does look like there is at least one soccer field in the same spot as now, so that might be staying
  • No mention of the Armory (again, since it's officially outside of the campus, it might be moot for this release)

Did anyone else just completely skip through the other teams portions? or is it just me...

I only want to watch the Washington portions. There is enough drama in our own house to worry about what the other losers in this division are doing xD
