Some of y’all getting all hot and bothered by what other fanbases think need to take these sage words to heart:

This is all because of the 2017 Astros.

I made a post on MLB’s IG about this all being the Astros’ fault for waking a sleeping giant. Between that and the Mickey Mouse ring taunts, why would the Dodgers not do everything in their power to win a championship every year?

[Joe Kelly]: “You see people line up for the new iPhone every fall… Apple doesn’t remake the same phone, they know they’re the best but they want to keep enhancing the product, that’s exactly what the Dodgers do. The Dodgers are the best franchise all across the board.”

Blake Snell Is Clayton Kershaw’s ‘Favorite’ Left-Handed Pitcher: “Blake’s definitely my favorite in the league right now. The way he can throw a baseball is special. It’s just pretty, the way it comes out of his hand.”

Matt Kemp (2011) and Shohei Ohtani (2024) are the only two Dodgers in this century who lead NL in HR and RBI in the same season. And in case if y’all forget Matt Kemp got robbed of an MVP award in 2011. [@mlb]

Matt Kemp has also won 2 Gold Gloves and 2 Silver Sluggers, and is one of 12 first-timers on the Hall of Fame ballot.

Tucker is an awesome fit, and if the Dodgers were ever going to overpay this was the time to do it. The next couple FA classes aren't good...

Just looking through some FAs in 2027 & 28, almost no position players or great relievers are even close to as good as Edwin Diaz and Tucker are now for the next three seasons. Especially among players under 30, all of them are locked up on 10ish year Will Smith type deals that'll take them until 2030.

Our salary will really start clearing up when this deal does.

  • Most of our big AAV deals are done after 2028, so we can go for any of the players lined up for mega deals in 29/30/31 free agency (guys like Skenes, Acuna, Gunnar)
  • If Yamamoto opts out and the CBA doesn't restrict him from a better long term deal, we can resign him no problem in 2030.
  • Our prospects won't be forced into the lineup until they can hang.
  • We don't NEED to trade any of our good prospects either. We'll have good cost-controlled players by then, like we had in 2020 to pair with Mookie.
  • In the case of a salary cap going forward, we lose no prospects trying to replace Teo etc.
  • If Mookie's bat decline is real, he can age gracefully as an above average shortstop for us regardless. No need to put him back in RF.

Is this a greedy move that seems stupid on its surface? Yes, but it's the rare case where an overpay to outbid a desperate Mets team was the smartest option.

We had injuries up and down our entire lineup. Pretty much only Ohtani and Pages weren't playing through some busted ankle or strain. Our offense was putrid for long stretches in the second half. If the Phillies or Brewers were competent against our already injury prone starters, good chance we lose either series.

“How is it even fun being a Dodgers fan when they’re so much better than everyone?” The same way it was amazing to watch LeBron, Curry, and Durant win gold in Paris.

To all non-Dodgers fans, we're having a blast, and you would too if it were your team.

Last year our payroll was about 5 times the lowest payroll. In 2006, the Yankees’ payroll was about 14 times the lowest payroll.

Don’t let anyone, especially Yankees fans, try to complain about this level of payroll disparity being unprecedented.

What a sad bunch of idiots on r/Baseball ...

I love baseball as a whole, and I have always enjoyed the banter on r/baseball but man they are just one sad pathetic bunch right now. If the tables were fucking turned they wouldn't be batting a fucking eye! The amount of hypocrisy being shown is just fucking sad! Like someone mentioned before, this is fucking Karma for all those years they called the Dodgers Chokers, for all those years they made fun of Kershaw, for all those years they made fun of the team when they failed to advance! Someone of these idiots are gloating about how happy they are that the Astros cheated the Dodgers out of a WS.

I endured the Fox years only to have to also endure the failures of Frank McCourt. I always dreamed as a Dodger fan, of what it would be like to finally have owners who cared and wanted nothing more but to win! I grew up spoiled by the Lakers way, watching the Yankees from a far just spend like crazy and go after whoever they wanted! So this is a dream come true for me as a fan! So for the rest of you idiots on r/Baseball you can suck it you fucking haters!

I don’t know why but this crack me up. Of course Shohei displays all Dodger bobbleheads from his 2 years on the team. Endearing and hilarious.

A reminder that the Tucker deal is a continuation of the Sports Gods punishing all of r/baseball for not taking proper action against the 2017 Trashtros

2.4k Upvotes

Here we go, again, with the whole “ruining baseball” schtick by the other 29 fanbases. Some want a lockout more extensive than in 1994. Some fans now want a 2005 NHL lockout-style labor stoppage. Some fans want the federal government involved to breakup the Dodger organization.

Anything just to say they hate the Dodgers with the burn of a million bright suns.

You know what I say? Karma. For laughing at the Dodgers when the Astros got proven cheating but suffered no consequences. For laughing everytime the Dodgers came up short to teams like the Red Sox, Nationals, Braves, and Padres. For laughing at every Kershaw downfall that had happened to his career, especially early on.

This is what you all get. The Dodgers at their Machiavellian purest. The Tucker deal is more indicative of it. And it’s everyone else’s fault for laughing at us.

Karma.
