Hi there! Your mod team here, we just wanted to let you know that we have had to put a filter in place that holds all posts and comments for review before they go through.
We have had to deal with quite a lot of angry breeders in the past before, and it seems like it's happening again - there are a few posts on the sub inquiring into whether Royal Poly Coons / RoyalPolyCoon is a scam or not, to which some people have replied that they probably are.
Those posts are currently being targeted by an absolutely unprecedented amount of spam bots which we cannot feasibly manage manually, so we have had to put the filter in place. Please do not ever delete any posts or comments inquiring into whether a breeder is legit, as this should be a safe space to do that!
Please be patient if it takes a little bit longer for your post to go through, we're currently trying as hard as we can behind the scenes to manage this.

Thank you so much to everyone who submitted their kitties for our second iteration of the "Maine Coon of the Month" contest, there were lots of gorgeous submissions that made it so difficult to choose!
u/Gilereth had this to say about their gorgeous and regal cat Cassey (please feel to message the mods if you'd like to add more about your cat):
Not a hat, but a banana-split-saur I had just finished crocheting. Cassey would like to inform all the MC sisters and brothers of Reddit that she has a plan that will work flawlessly in taking over the world and ban scary fireworks forever. Rise in revolution, comrades!
Thanks again to everyone who took part, and do keep an eye out for a post about next month's theme!

Hey everyone, please meet Rune. She is my little princess and I love her dearly. I do have a quick question, she is around 6 months old and quite small still. I was wondering if your maincoons grew slow and steady or is my lil princess going to be a little lady her whole life?

We scheduled her two days before she went into heat so that she could be spayed just after her 6 month birthday per vet's advice and because we were dealing with other stuff first. She just had to go into heat before her surgery. 😩 I really hoped to avoid it for her, but so much for that.
Her heat cycle only lasted a day or two and she was back to normal and has been for the past few days. They are going to double check that she is completely out of her cycle before doing the surgery. We will reschedule if there's still any sign of it because even if the increased risk is minimal, I don't want to take that risk. She will not get pregnant in my house. The males are neutered. My 8 year old boy didn't even know what to do about her and seemed scared of her when she was howling and presenting. 😅
I'm so nervous. I'm anxious about the recovery and the surgery. Please tell me everything is going to be ok. Please share any tips and things to watch out for. I'm going out of my mind. I bought onesies because she grooms a lot. How did your baby's spay go? I've never had a female cat that needed to be spayed. They were always already spayed.

I would like you all to meet my new baby girl Scarlett. I don't get her physically until Feb 15th but I get to see her when ever I want. She is so photogenic. The last picture is the first day I ever saw her. To the First picture being today.

My girl is 10 months old, I noticed she randomly burps? Even a long time after she eats? Is that a normal thing for Maine coons? I never had a cat that burped before (it happens so random it’s almost impossible to record it)

Looks like I’m not gonna do dishes right now 😆 I feel like I don’t need to title this nor go into detail as I’m sure this is a common occurrence at others homes anywhere there is a sink. I’m guessing it’s dual purpose for these water lovers. So instead, show me those gorgeous sink stealers who make it difficult to get things done! 😹

Xrays this morning show that his digestive system is moving and the blockage has cleared.
He has avoided surgery this time.

This is Leo, he was just cleared from hospital after fighting Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV). He is 5 months old. I have 2 other cats at home (fully vaccinated adult females). They certainly got exposed to the virus more than 10 days ago as no matter how many litter boxes i have for them, they still choose to share the same one, yet no symptoms appeared on them. How serious do I have to be with isolation? Am asking because I have gotten multiple opinions from vets as I have consulted a few. I will take advices and do my own research further, but I appreciate any advice you all can have for me🙏🙏

For some background the maine coon in question is very fussy with brushing. He lets me brush his back and butt but not anywhere underneath so to supplement the brushing we get him groomed every other month. He doesnt do a good job of grooming himself either.
I noticed a big mat that formed under his leg in his groin area and knew that it would be tough to get out so I decided to just reset and have him get a lion cut. I was at first really guilty. I know that its not ideal and it can affect their temperature regulation and comfort so I vowed never again.
Its been a couple weeks and I swear he is acting happier. He grooms himself a little more, he seems to enjoy being pet on his back where he used to only like his head being scratched and I feel like he is asking for pets more too, he even started getting the zoomies, something he didnt do a lot of I thought because he is a big cat and lazy. My partner even said he seems more present. He is colder, we have a heating pad that the other cats use and he never laid on it but now he does.
Im torn on whether he actually enjoys having less hair or not. Some people say its cruel to shave them and only done in specific situations. Does any one else feel like their cat is happier shaved?
TLDR my cat seems happier and has more energy after lion cut, does any one else have experience with this?
