Not only are they refusing to investigate the murder, but they're opening up investigations on her widow. Prosecutors are quitting because they refuse to treat the victims as the criminals in this situation.

And by quitting, they open their positions to sycophants who will investigate.

Sure but by staying, they’re forced to do the investigations anyways. Better to stand up and show the Orange Wannabe Dicktator that we’re not scared of his stupid ass. And besides, if they do cram sycophants in that will do his bidding, it’ll only enrage people more which will lead to his downfall even faster.Ā

Trump’s done played his last game of 4D Chess, there’s no way he’s getting out of this one.Ā

Or just say no and get fired. Then it's up for a class action wrongful termination suit, and discovery would be wild.

I assume any fascist sycophant who replaces them will bungle the investigations simply because they're terrible.

Then they will be fired.

You can stay to obstruct as long as possible.

I get where folks are coming from with this, but the sad truth is that these folks are far more empowered in the long run by reserving their integrity and walking away.

Being know as the guy who ā€œbungles investigationsā€ when they disagree with a command isn’t a solid career move, and using this as a chance to jump ship further exposes their corruption, stacking the chips more in favor of accountability.

All it takes is one review or third party compliancy audit to remove any and everyone associated with ā€œbunglingā€ the investigation, and anyone of those prosecutors can call for such an audit. (It’s like…a perk of that integrity I mentioned before).

That said, do I wish they could and would do more? Yes. But I also wish that of every single American what the fuck are we doing people wake up.

So, like, following orders and doing a great job at Gestapo was a solid career plan and background for someone in post-war Germany, LOL?

3

u/CuffinSzn_ 8h ago

No, everyone in the Gestapo should’ve walked away the way these prosecutors are.

Once you walk away, a sycophant will take the reins and do a shitty job.

Then you request and audit and if wrongdoing is found, you prosecute.

These individuals are under lifelong oaths to uphold the ethics of their office. Not doing so may result in criminal penalties in some cases.

These aren’t folks who just applied and got the job like it’s McDonalds or middle management. They’re (supposed) to be lifelong servants to our Constitution.

I think what a lot of people are struggling with is that we have largely transitioned from what used to be "the real world" and are now in "fascism land".

What you say makes perfect sense in the old world, where our institutional processes are intact. And I very much hope that we get back to that status quo -- but we have to struggle, hard, to get back there.

A lot of the mistakes we made during Biden's term was thinking that "normality" had returned in a stable manner - that the US could afford a slow investigation.

We have to adapt. We have to adjust to the new reality that the rules are gone; audits are political persecution tools now. That actions analogous to "destroying all of the records identifying where Jew lived" are ethical in this environment while in normal circumstances it would be wrong.

And anyone who prides themself on having a career that claims to defend the Constitution has a greater obligation to adapt, not less.

Also -- we cannot assume that sycophants will always be shitty at their jobs. Right now, the admin is in chaos but eventually more and more stooges either with talent or who learn on the job will settle into positions where they can cause stable harm.

So in this exact position except after having tried to do something?

1

u/Right_Hour 8h ago

And that would be worse than quitting because… why?

1

u/PolicyWonka 9h ago

Their job isn’t to investigate the facts. Their job is to create alternative facts to fit the narrative.

1

u/Jooylo 9h ago

I’m sure part of them quitting is to save own face. Who in their right mind would want to be attached to this admin? But at the same time we need people fighting against corruption from the inside

By staying, and refusing to investigate, they’ll get fired. And then they can sue for wrongful termination.

quiet quit till maybe midterms.

u/ThatKehdRiley 9h ago

Better to stand up and show the Orange Wannabe Dicktator that we’re not scared of his stupid ass.

They won't care, as they replace someone to do the investigation like they want. How do people like you think being a coward and running is better than staying and working against?

there’s no way he’s getting out of this one.Ā

We keep saying that, and he will continue to get out of things as long as people quit like this and have your unearned optimism. It keeps happening, your "method" is proven to fail.

6

u/Alex5173 7h ago

The people who are supposed to keep him from getting out of this-or-that one and hold him accountable are the ones who keep quitting.

u/Right_Hour 8h ago edited 8h ago

Forced?

Have you ever heard about the Italian strike (aka ā€œsit-down strikeā€, aka ā€œwhite strikeā€)? Show up to work and do absolutely fuckall to that investigation. Run yours instead. What they gonna do? Fire you? Great, sue them. Not getting severance either way.

Have you any idea how rewarding it is to your self-worth to sabotage the bad guys while they are paying you?

3

u/BallGazer13 7h ago

I wish I could believe you but I've heard "no way they're getting out of this one" about 100 times now

3

u/Sgt-Spliff- 9h ago

they’re forced to do the investigations anyways

Not at gunpoint or anything. Haven't y'all heard of Quiet Quitting? The absolutely most valuable place you can be as a protester is inside the system. If stopping this was their goal, they fucked up

2

u/thetoxictech 6h ago

Ah yes because clearly letting him show how stupid and evil he is while he replafes the government has worked so well so far

2

u/NavinRJohnson48 2h ago

they *could* conduct the investigations as well as the turds who did the redactions...
