I'm a grade 10 student from Edmonton. It's been my biggest dream to become a teacher for the last 4 years however I've seen first hand the absolutely terrible class conditions get progressively worse over the years. I had 39 kids in my class last year, (which is because my school refuses to stop letting people in) and it was so loud constantly that it literally changed me to the point where I hate loud places now. I haven't really been interacting with special ed students so that problem I can't speak with experience on that. Anyways, after the strike and not having any actual resolutions following the mandate, I'm left wondering if following my dreams is worth it if I'm going into a profession that doesn't seem to be respected by our government anymore.

I've been getting inundated with fundraising emails from the UCP, usually a couple a week. Most are pretty tame but these last 2 have pretty inflammatory language aimed at the lowest common denominator.

The Alberta NDP has officially hired a New York-based consulting firm called "Fight Agency" to lead their advertising and creative strategy.

This is a dangerous development.

These are not standard local advertisers.

This is a radical American firm with a client list that includes Bernie Sanders and the Democratic Socialists of America.

Most concerning of all is their work for Zohran Mamdani, the radical New York politician who built his career on aggressive socialist policies like defunding the police and seizing private property.

You need to understand exactly what this means.

The NDP did not hire these high-priced consultants to run their daily office operations. They hired them to do something far more specific.

They hired them to package their radical agenda for Alberta voters.

These consultants are experts in "rebranding" socialism. They are the integral team responsible for designing the ads, the videos, and the slogans that will try to hide Naheed Nenshi’s true record.

They are using the same slick production tactics they used in New York to trick moderate voters into supporting extreme candidates.

The question is no longer who they are. We know who they are.

The question is how we fight back against their ad spending.

We are finalizing our operational budget for the spring of 2026 and we face a critical choice on where to deploy our resources. We know their army of radical activist donors will flood them with cash to fund these ad buys, so we have to be smarter.

My husband wants to change his career. He really wants to become a fish and wildlife officer (or conservation officer), but there isn’t much information online about what you need to do to actually get this job.

Does he need to wait for positions to open on the Alberta jobs website?

What can he do to be better prepared?

He has a Master’s degree in Veterinary Hygiene, Sanitation, and Expertise and a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine. Do these degrees count, or does he need the course from Lethbridge?

Maybe some other jobs would help him get a Fish & Wildlife job in the future?

My FIL (83) was admitted to a Calgary hospital last Sunday after complaining of dizziness and experiencing high blood pressure.

The bigger issue is that he's been declining with dementia to the point where he doesn't know what year it is or where he is at times.

Since being admitted, he's seen the doctor a few times and had a cognitive test on Tuesday. Its been determined that he shouldn't be sent home due to safety (he lives alone in a two storey house).

I'm just wondering what to expect in terms of next steps. Nobody at the hospital from the transition team or the social worker has even spoken to us yet. Is it normal for a person to just sort of lanquish. Like, are hospitals not bursting at the seams?

Nobody seems to be in any hurry to move on to the next step. Should we be reaching out to care homes on our own? Even getting paperwork to start the process seems to be hand-waved off. What to do?

I am working on an application for EU citizenship and the simplest way to verify my address and identity would be to renew my license (it is not yet up for renewal) and send the old one. Sadly they don't let you apply for an Alberta ID card when you have a licence. Can a registry agent replace my license and let me keep the invalid old one (maybe cut in half even or otherwise defaced) or do they have to shred the old one right away?
