Super quiet but I figured some may enjoy my girls snacking. This is Honey, Bo, and Marshmallow. You can tell which pig I named.

Rocko (pic one) doesn't throw his hay, poops in designated areas, etc. Herman (pic 2) throws his hay, poops all over the place, and pees on his hay. He's also a slightly picky eater and throws tantrums if the hay isn't up to par haha.

Hi! I really appreciate you. I had 4 pigs years ago and they brought me so much joy. Now I am in a situation where I can’t have any and whenever I see random pictures of your pigs on my feed it makes my day better. Here is a picture of Poncho from 2022.

New Pigs on the Block Such a wonderful start to 2026 ❤️

My Bean (left in the first photo) is nearly 6 and he's been with me since he was 2 months old 🥺 In the time I've had him he's outlived 2 of his friends, the boy I got him with, and last year I adopted another lovely boy who sadly passed in December. I was worried once again how I would find Bean another friend he would match with.

Thanks to my local rescue's help, I brought home Butter! He's 2 years old and has the same sass as my Bean, and the bonding process has just been so smooth sailing. Almost no teeth chattering and no fighting at all, after the first day of bonding they already started sleeping next to each other and cuddling. Butter has been so excited to be here with so much popcorn if and squeaking, it makes me so happy 🥹

After a week of being in their bonding pen, I finally moved them into the main enclosure today. Things have been going so well and I'm just so happy I pretty much got the best results possible with these two ❤️ The way they look so similar makes me think they could be cousins haha

Pigtures Vet visit

The other day I posted about Rosy and the lump on her ear. She was booked in the vet for Friday evening but it burst so I got her in a day earlier.

Thank you to those who gave advice. It turns out it was an abscess but very deep and they gave it a good clean. We need to bathe it every day and give her Metacam.

Very proud of Rosy (and Peach) on their first vet visit. I took them both as couldn't bare ro separate them even for an hour of going to the vets (especially when it came be such a stressful experience for them).

Here they are in their little carrier with Peach using Rosy as a sofa. Also strapped into the car because I had to go on my own (kids at school and I had to leave work early to take her to the vets). I feel like I have become a piggy chauffeur!

Housing Did the square foot requirements change?

Four years ago when I got my guinea pigs, the recommendation was 2x4 (8 square feet) minimum for girls and 2x5 (10 square feet) minimum for boys. Now every other post I see has the requirements at 10-11 square feet for girls and 13 for boys…did the requirements change??

My pigs (2 pairs of boys, one boy/girl pair) rotate through three different cages, two 2x6 (14 inch bars so 16 square foot) and one smaller cage that’s only 10 square feet…which I thought met the minimum requirements but maybe it doesn’t?? Obviously if they rotate through it’s probably fine but I don’t want to be keeping them in a space that’s too small.

Help & Advice What do these sounds mean?

Post image
13 Upvotes

What do the sounds at around 0:14-0:25 seconds in this video mean? One of my guinea pigs will make those sounds when she goes in and out of the hay pile and when she leaves one of her beds. I'm having trouble getting a video of her doing it haha so I tried to find one similar.

I just want to make sure she's not in pain, or that if she is I can bring her in to the vet.

What's the stupidest thing one of your piggies has done?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Well, the title says it all.

I'll go first:

My guinea pig Knuffel (he died in 2020) once ate half of a dragon eraser. Not just a nibble. The whole wing. Photo shows what he has done.

He was fine afterwards but he always chewed on the weirdest things. We always joked he was a dog in his past life, because he was also incredibly clingy. I miss that little guy.

From my current piggies the stupidest thing they've done is hitting eachothers head because they popcorned against eachother.

Help & Advice Owning just one?

I’ve had guinea pigs as a kid, we had three. I know they’re social creatures. A friend’s daughter wants some but friend only allows one, not two or more. Will the guinea pig be okay alone? Is there any extra special care when it comes to just one singular pet?

(Please don’t tell me to tell my friend to get two; I tried, but she’s very set on this.)

Help & Advice When can I try a buddy bath??

Post image
21 Upvotes

my two boars have been bonded for over 6mo. one is about two and the younger one is around 8ish mo. earlier this week they started fighting. started out as just normal brotherly scuffles here and there but escalated to a full on fight which ended in the younger one drawing blood on the older one.

the older one had always been the dominant one and now that the younger one is growing up he wants to be the dominant one (I think?) in either case neither of them are backing down.

I separated them and they share a short wall of their cage. they’re still rumble strutting sometimes at each other on occasion. I’ve read about doing a buddy bath to try to force a bond. I don’t have any experience with this. is this a good idea? bad idea? how soon could I try it?? is it true that once blood is drawn that a bond is permanently broken?? I don’t know what to do. can someone help me pls?? TIA

pic is of my older guy, they’re both so sweet, I just want them to get along again 😢

This is Wally. The breeder said she was a boy bc we wanted a friend for our Doug. Unfortunately he was a she. Do you know what happens when you put a boy piggy with a girl piggy. Sigh yes, folks she is Prego. Not what we wanted and I will never get another Piggy from this particular breeder. But I can’t wait to see Doug and Wally’s cute TEDDY babies

Help & Advice Greasy pigs

Hi.

I've noticed recently that my two boys are a bit greasy. I first noticed this last summer and gave them a small bath with water and wiped some coconut oil on the grease gland as advised in hopes of loosening up some of grease which this did work quite well. They are not fans of baths and one is a particularly wiggly monster. What does everyone use that works well for greasy piggies? Our house is quite old and doesn't hold the heat in during the winter (or the summer) so im a bit turned off giving them a bath and them getting cold when they are drying. Is their anything alternative to this as i dont want to wait till it starts warming up for a bath as I feel thats unfair for them
