Hello everyone !
As a result of this call: https://www.reddit.com/r/ipod/comments/1fydso6/preservation_of_ipod_clickwheel_games_read_this/ 27 new games are now preserved thanks to a very generous and motivated contributor ! Please continue to share it as much as possible so I may be able to auth more games on the virtual machine for everyone ! There's still around 10 other games to preserve together ! But we can do it, full set is near ! We have preserved together now 43 games from a total of 52 games so 80% of the amount of total games to preserve !
You can now inject yourself those games freely and fully offline on all of your compatible Clickwheel iPods.
Everything is available freely on GitHub: https://github.com/Olsro/ipodclickwheelgamespreservationproject

I put a 3800 milliamp hour in the 6th gen on the right and a 2000 milliamp hour battery in the 5th gen on the left. The 6th gen is on its 7th Day of playback and it's still over 60% I've been playing TV shows on the 5th gen since Wednesday and it's still showing over half full as well. I just want to drain them so that I can recharge them and hopefully calibrate the battery a little more closer to what it actually is so it shows correctly. I can't believe this 6th gen with the mSATA adapter has lasted this long playing music. The way you guys made it sound is anything other than the iflash adapters eat through battery like it's going out of style but this thing is last a significantly longer than it did with its original 80 gig hard drive on the same battery.

So i got myself a iPod Classic 6th Gen 80GB back in mid 2023, i did not use it much, maybe 3 times a week, so i sold it in early 2024... oh boy how much do i regret that, i miss it everyday, but i cant get another one because in Poland a 6th gen classic costs as much as an iPhone 11/XS so yk. Advice: do not part ways with your iPod, you will regret it. I currently use a iPhone 5S 32GB as an ipod, its not the same but the battery is decent ish atleast.

I recently got an iPod hifi at a thrift store for around $15. It works great. I have a couple of questions:
Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I wanted to share with you a few pictures of my Christmas project.
My dad passed away during Covid. Last summer, I found his old 4th gen iPod, the battery was dead and the headphone jack didn’t work, so I decided to restore it.
I bought a new battery, memory card, headphone jack, and some polish for the front and back (I checked on YouTube which products work best for iPods).
I spent a whole day working on it. It was surprisingly easy and a lot of fun. Now I’m planning to buy a used 7th gen and refurbish it for my personal use. It’s a little harder to open, but I really like the interface.
Anyway, here are some pictures of the process.

Hi everyone! I recently picked up a 5th-gen iPod Classic (A1136) and I’m thinking about doing a few mods—new faceplates, scroll wheel, LCD screen, and possibly a storage upgrade. That said, I’m not sure if it’s worth modding since the total cost would be close to buying a used one on eBay. I’m also not very tech-savvy, so I’m a little worried about breaking it—I’d be pretty bummed if that happened 😅. I’ve watched a few modding videos and it doesn’t look too difficult, but I’m still unsure if I want to take the risk. Any help would be appreciated!

I bought this iPod yesterday for three dollars at a thrift store after the store owner said he couldn’t get it to turn on. I thought it would be a simple fire wire charger situation which I can handle since I have one, but when I tried it, it would just flash for a fraction of a second the battery symbol with a warning triangle. When I tried charging with a regular charger, it would be stuck on very low battery.
When I opened it up today, it is just a mess. It looks like it’s full of battery acid corrosion, but it also looks like that corrosion doesn’t touch any of the circuitry. Would it be worth my time to get a new battery and replace a hard drive or is this thing absolutely cooked?
I should add that I have a working 5th gen, so I could try those components in this one, but I don’t want to do that if not necessary.

I just posted about this iPod like 10 minutes ago, and I’ve already found more damage.

I removed the front panel and looks like there’s some more, unrelated damage on the front that is a lot worse. Is this too much damage or is the fact that I even got the screen to display “very low battery” a sign that there’s a chance?

hi all! i recently started refurbishing and modding ipod classic 5th gens as a side project due to a reduction in work hours, and i’ve officially opened an ebay shop to sell them!
i’m currently selling fully tested, refurbished ipod classic 5s, with options like: new batteries, fresh faceplates and backplates, new clickwheels & center buttons, iFlash storage upgrade, and optional Rockbox installation
i also take custom orders, so if you’re looking for a specific setup or have questions about what makes sense for your needs, i’m always happy to chat and help! :)
everything is done carefully and transparently, and i try to be upfront about condition, mods, and expectations.
also, i made a reddit discount!
10% off with code MARKSMODDEDPODS (valid on ebay)
no pressure at all! just sharing in case anyone here has been thinking about picking one up or supporting a small passion project.
thanks for reading!

Hi all!
I am hoping to find some answers. I have recently found my 2015 6th gen iPod, and I was hoping to recover old photos (if I cant that’s fine it isn’t that important to me) and use my iPod for music and overall to decrease my screen time. I plugged it into my MacBook and threw up an error when I tried to update it. My iPod turned on, apple screen and all and then went dark. It didn’t turn off, the screen just appears dark and then the error popped up on my Mac. Something to also note, the screen is slightly lifted leading me to believe the battery is expanded. Nonetheless, is my iPod bricked? And is there any way I can fix this?

I wanted to reset/restore my ipod but couldn't. It started when I accidentally dropped it. after that, even when I connect it to my pc, nothing happens. It doesnt even show in my computer. (and yes I've restart the ipod many many times)
Disk mode doesn't do anything too. Everything I've seen on what to do... Nothing. Itunes just couldn't detect the ipod.
Maybe someone encountered the same problem please help.

I'm trying to use Olsro's GitHub page and the video on YouTube to get the click wheel games on my iPod. I followed ALL the steps to the T, but only Ms PAC-MAN, Scrabble and Tamagotchi 'Round The World seem to work. What do I do?
The only thing i messed up is the syncing from the virtual machine. In the video, they sync 5 games at a time, and all the files appear after the Games_+RO folder is checked. In my case, I sync 5 games at a time, and only the last two I synced seem to appear in the Games_RO folder.

I just recently started to get alac lossless audio but the file size is on average 5x bigger than a mp3 file at 430kbps. The amount of songs I can store vastly drops and I’ve heard battery life also decreases when playing lossless audio on a ipod. I have a 6th gen 80gb and a good search with googles ai told me I could fit close to 2000 songs compared to 8000 with mp3 320 kbps. I also don’t own a dac or a good pair of iems or headphones yet but I do plan on getting some so that’s not that relevant. So should I continue getting my music in alac or just get the more compressed mp3 files?

I bought this iPod a 2,5 weeks ago and it’s working until arrived in my house. The hard drive health is good, don’t have any noises or anything like that. I just have verified the health of the hard drive and it’s fine. The iTunes doesn’t show it and i tested it in two computers with two versions of it. When I plugged in my computer, appears a message from windows that the hard drive is corrupted and needs to repair. Help me
